IMO, if INC reduces to 2 digits or low 3 digits, I can only hope and pray that there will be a grassroots revolt, civil war and split within the party and that the die-nasty will be evicted following which the INC of pre-indira can slowly revive in ideals and spirit (long shot, I know).
But yes, anything that weakens the phoren influence at the head of the INC high-on-something command better for the country. The 3rd front sellouts are essentially sellouts and will sell to the highest bidder. Its time lalu, mulayam and paswan - mandal era fossils - lose their deposits and become totally marginalized.
Meanwhile, weakening BJD is crucial lest other NDA allies look to repeating Naveen's sordid example. There should be electoral consequences to betraying the nationalist forces in this country, IMHO.
BTW, word has it my SHQ's uncle is in the poll fray too this time. Chalo, at least i can say apun ka contact elexun lad raha hai....
After all is said and done INC was the vehicle to achieve Independence. From what I read under Gandhiji it was funded by Indian industrialists even till late 90s. The fund managers got bad name but were powerful entities- Atulya Ghosh in the sixties to Sitram kesari in the 90s. Bofors scam was an atempt by the Gandhii coterie to bypass local funding sources and break free. The eclipse of Sitram Kesari in late 90s ended the local funding component and the rise of outside support and reliance on Gandhi family fortunes.
The eclipse if it happens will allow the nationalists to emerge out of the pen-umbra of the Gandhi family. Such a group can assert itself nationally without the baggage of the carpet baggers. A pan nationlist group can help solve the problems of the region.
Lets see how it pans out.
