<b>A bomb blast at a mosque in a remote region of northwest Pakistan has killed around 40 people attending Friday prayers.</b>

Atif-ur-Rehman, a government spokesman in Upper Dir, said: "The death toll is 40.

We have no idea as yet how many have been wounded."

<b>2. Dir Bala blast kills 12, injures 40</b>

DIR : There are reports that several people have been killed and injured in a blast in Upper Dir area of Hayagai Sharqi, Geo News reported Friday.

The blast occurred in a mosque, where Friday prayers were being offered.

<b>The Geo News correspondent said at least 12 people have been killed and over 40 others injured in the blast.</b>

According to correspondent, a suicide bomber tried to enter the mosque; however, when he was stopped, he blew himself up.

SHO Dir Bala said death toll in the blast cannot be ascertained at present, as the communication system at the blast lies upset.

He said the police party has been dispatched towards the blast site.
