keeping silence wouldnt preserve them
at contray ,they will pass silently in to non-existence
why Kajuraho or Meenakshi will not be destroied?because they are famous ;everybody will find out if anything will happend to them.
anyway ,the maniacs destroy the usual temples and didnt mind of architectural value of any building
anyway the unusual temples can be find by a simple google search
such list will popularize indian art ,like the 7 wonders of the world,like the 7 wonders of the modern world,like top ten best green buildngs etc

or may be we want to see now the lost temples like
