Hailing the ââ¬Ëgreat contributionââ¬â¢ made by the Indian diaspora in changing Indiaââ¬â¢s image abroad, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today announced that his government was taking steps to see that overseas Indians were able to cast ballots in the next Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2014.
ââ¬ÅI recognise the legitimate desire of Indians living abroad to exercise their franchise and to have a say in who governs India. We are working on this issue and I sincerely hope that they will get a chance to vote by the time of the next regular general elections,ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ he said formally inaugurating the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas at the Vigyan Bhavan here.
