Two arrested for consuming alcohol, eating meat in gurdwara

The local police raided the Gurdwara Masit Wala located at Loha Mandi on Sunday and arrested two persons [color="#FF0000"]— Mangal Singh, the head of the gurdwara [/color]and one of his accomplices for [color="#FF0000"]consuming alcohol and meat inside the holy place[/color], while the third accused escaped from the spot.



According to the information available, the visitors to the Gurdwara Masit Wala frequently complained about the consumption of meat and use of alcohol inside the gurdwara[color="#FF0000"] by the nihangs[/color] living there. The people informed the members of Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee, a local NGO, who in turn lodged a complaint in the police station.



“Acting on the information from the members of Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee, the premises of the gurdwara was raided on Sunday, and there they found the accused eating meat and consuming alcohol. Mangal Singh and an accomplice were arrested, while the third accused fled from the scene,” said DSP, Gurmeet Singh.



President of committee Dalbir Singh said, “Nihang Mangal Singh and his accomplices have spoilt the sanctity of the gurdwara. The holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib has been shifted to another gurdwara. If the committee will receive such complaints from the public in future, we will strive to expose such wrongdoings.”



“A case under Section 295A of IPC has been lodged against the accused for hurting the religious sentiments and sanctity of the religious place,” said Tejinder Pal Singh, station house officer, Batala city.

No riots or Karpan coming out. Surprising people were watching this and no/delayed action.
