Congress has reasons to be disappointed over the outcome of the meeting as it was hoping that political parties across the aisle would speak out against the inclusion of higher judiciary as well as the prime minister in the ambit of the Lokpal bill, thereby strengthening the government in its negotiations with Team Hazare. Even as the party spelt out its position, ally DMK did not provide any succour to the government as it sought the inclusion of the prime minister within Lokpal's ambit. After the meeting, Sushma Swaraj said BJP wanted a strong, effective and impartial Lokpal. "The government should bring the bill in the monsoon session and send it to the standing committee so that political parties, state governments and the public could give their views. After this, it can be discussed and passed in the winter session of Parliament." http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news...092623.cms
