S Indian haplotype diversity is given a separate genesis directly from China!
Underhill 2009 evaluated in one study the transcontinental populations of R1a1. They were able to resolve 70% of European occurences under one SNP and this SNP was missing from India. Once the SNP has been defined, STR analysis becomes moot. Even then the STR variance in India outpaced significantly that of other regions. Among these facts, they also cited that the phylogeny for R1a1 is supported upstream only in India. Basal R/R1 is of course there (in Gonds) but also P, joined at the root with the NOP and MNOPS of East Asia.

I read on wiki that the Madia Gond tribe in Maharashtra is 25% of Y-Haplogroup-P
Are you saying that R and R1 are also found in the Gond population ?
