Denmark funding unrest in India
#4
The NGO has been in existence both during the time of the NDA and UPA. Some of these outfits are politically close to the NDA leaders and some close to UPA leaders. Many of the wiser ones change their affiliation depending upon who is in power at a given point of time.

It may be recalled that in the early 1960s a particular NGO played a leading role in creating trouble in NAGALAND. It was headed by a foreigner, if I remember correctly. With considerable difficulty the situation was brought under control and certain foreign nationals were deported.

There is no denying of the fact that some of the NGOs have done remarkable work amongst the poor of this country and have also contributed significantly in social upliftment and in the spread of loitracy. At the same time, a few of the NGOs have deviated from their agenda of social and community development and have entered the arena of local politics. A few have instigated undesirable elements to cause public unrest. It is also true that with the financial backing from aborad , a few of the NGOs have turned themselves into political oufits, These trends need to be checked immediately.
