In India, there seems to be 2 main evolutionary pressures for higher IQ
1. The bania route ( same as jewish route )
2. The brahmin route ( memorization which indirectly increases IQ )
In North India, the bania route was not affected by the muslim invasion. The bania kept on being a bania, and many were hired by muslim sultans to be their bankers
whereas the brahmin route was disrupted. Many brahmins survived, but most of them had to take up other skills, and the IQ sharpening effect was removed for 500 years
Whereas in South India , there was no disruption to the brahmin route
