His Holiness Sri Jagadguru Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam (note, this refers to the previous head of the peeTham) granted an audience to Professor Hajime Nakamura, Professor of Indian philosophy, Faculty of Letters, University of Tokyo, on Friday night, January 22, 1960, at His Holiness’ Camp at Numbai. At this stage, the Japanese Professor interrupted and said that Shintoism was the pre-Buddhist religion of Japan and that Shintoism was Brahminism.

(He means Sanatana Dharma* I think.)



And here I was thinking HindOOs' religion/HindOOs were sort of the Indian variant of Shinto. And of Daoism. (usw)

But maybe I shouldn't speak for others - we're told there's no "we", after all.

Personally, then: I identify.
