The visit by the U S President to India ( a second by any US President during his term ) and that also as Chief Guest at the Repubic Day Parade was indeed a very significant development as far as US â India relations is concerned. Apart from the photo opportunities, the visit has resulted in substantive results. The last hurdle on the Civil Nuclear Deal has finally been crossed, with President Obama using his executive powers. The other significant agreement is in the co production of high tech defence equipment. Lastly, a strong message has gone in the neighbourhood that India and USA has now become strategic partners. I would like to clarify at this point that India as a nation is peace loving and strongly believes is peaceful co existence. However. Given the ground realities a certain balance of power and regional equilibrium has to be maintained. In this regard the agreements reached between India and USA is a very positive development for both the countries.
