Shows how the braggart west consisted of a bunch of wusses when push came to shove. (Still wusses compared to Asian heathens.)
But on another matter:
If Indians only died in others' wars back then, that would have been understandable, as it was ultimately necessary for independence and served that purpose. (Well, whatever degree of 'independence' Indians ultimately obtained.)
But Indian soldiers dying for others' ideologies is ongoing. E.g. the current army is "secular" to the core. It will fight TSP and tomorrow it will be infiltrated by the christoislamic quota. The end of secularism. And a significant number of Gurkhas have set themselves up in industry as mercenaries - hiring themselves out to the Brits, and even American celebrities. At one point in time - perhaps too long ago now to even matter hereafter - their reason for being warriors was to fight for their Hindoo-dom. Sigh.
And every time I hear of any of it - including of such Indian deaths - I always, still hear that old song running through my head "King George commands and we obey, over the hills and far away". Indian soldiery today will die for anything but the heathen cause.* And their valour too is only for the service of anything but. (* The heathen cause of their ancestors, should say: since it's not their own any more and its relevance has therefore expired for them).
The irony is that Hindu-origin soldiers and fighters of Nepal and India keep the wheels of the enemies in motion.
Colonialism -> secularism -> cryptochristianism has totally defanged - and hence destroyed - Hindoo heathenism. No sword. But that which is for others to hire.
"Darkness unescapable?"
"I dream of it often."
