The Syrian Christians would soon come to grief for their treachery. The Portuguese regarded them as heretics and schismatics who were no better in True Religion than their Hindu neighbours. They had come with cannon and a papal mandate to instruct the inhabitants of the land in the Catholic faith and this included non-Roman Christians. Their arrival and that of the first Jesuit missionary Francis Xavier, in 1542, turned Christianity in India into a violent and destructive political force that continues to operate in the country till today.

After 1502, the Syrian Christians and Roman Catholic Church embarked on a confrontation. It went on for decades and was aggravated by the activities of the Jesuits. In 1653 a Syrian bishop was burned at the stake at Goa by the Inquisition—which had been invited into the country by Francis Xavier himself. The confrontation only began to subside with the decline of Portuguese power, as the Pope and the Jesuits were both dependant on Portuguese arms to enforce their will. A compromise was eventually reached between the Catholic Church and the Syrian Christians, and various oriental rite churches came into being. But whatever the arrangements or relationship with Rome, the Jesuits, true to their evil genius, had succeeded in destroying the Syrian Christian community in India. There is some justice in this fate, for had the Syrian Christians remained true to their country and king, they would have remained a happy, respected and united community.

The military regime in Burma is intent on wiping out Christianity in the country, according to claims in a secret document believed to have been leaked from a government ministry. Entitled "Programme to destroy the Christian religion in Burma", the incendiary memo contains point by point instructions on how to drive Christians out of the state.

The text, which opens with the line "There shall be no home where the Christian religion is practised", calls for anyone caught evangelising to be imprisoned. It advises: "The Christian religion is very gentle – identify and utilise its weakness."

Its discovery follows widespread reports of religious persecution, with churches burnt to the ground, Christians forced to convert to the state religion, Buddhism, and their children barred from school.

Human rights groups claim that the treatment meted out to Christians, who make up six per cent of the population, is part of a wider campaign by the regime, also targeted at ethnic minority tribes, to create a uniform society in which the race and language is Burmese and the only accepted religion is Buddhism.

In the past year, an estimated 27,000 members of the predominantly Christian Karen tribe were driven from their homes in eastern Burma.

In Koh Kyi village, in Arakan State, a monk backed by the military burnt down the local church. In another state, 300 monks were allegedly sent by the regime to forcibly convert the populace, all of whom belonged to the Chin ethnic group, which is mostly Christian.

The document, shown to The Sunday Telegraph by human rights groups, may have been produced by a state-sponsored Buddhist group, but with the tacit approval of the military junta. The regime has denied authorship of the document – which also calls for teenagers to be prevented from wearing Western clothes – but has made no public attempt to refute or repudiate its contents.

The dictatorship has long been accused of large-scale human rights abuses. In power since 1988, the generals annulled the National League for Democracy's sweeping 1990 election victory and jailed its leader, the Nobel peace prize-winner Aung San Suu Kyi. She remains under house arrest. Last week she was accused of tax evasion for failing to hand over any of her Nobel prize winnings to the authorities.

Eha Hsar Paw, a Karen Christian, who fled her village while heavily pregnant to a refugee camp near the border with Thailand, said: "The journey here was very difficult. It was hard to leave our village, but if we had stayed there we would all be dead."

This is a true account of my visit to Andhra Pradesh this week. On 7th jan
I took off to Mantralayam a famous pilgrimage centre in AP. Mantralayam is
in Adoni district and is surrounded by poor villages.It is the holy place
where the great saint Sri Raghvendra swami entered jeevanta (alive) Samadhi
after performing 12 years of penance. A large number of devotees from
various parts of the country visit this sacred place every year.

I reached Mantralayam on 8th afternoon. I visited the temple premises and
then rented a room in the temple. Then I took of to the sacred place
Panchamukhi where Swami performed .penance for 12 years and were blessed
with the darshan of Lord Hanuman.
Mantralayam is a well connected town with good mobile network and transport
facilities. I hired a Rickshaw to Panchamukhi. A small village at 21 Km from
Mantralayam.

As we reached the outskirts of Mantralayam I saw a hamlet full of Christian
houses and a small church freshly painted in white. All houses were
distinctly marked with huge Crosses on doors and an image of Christ on every
house. I dismissed it as the local Christian population. Then as we moved
some 5 Km I saw another huge church with many Christian houses surrounding
it. Now I grew curious and started closely observing all the houses aside
the road. Majority of the houses were freshly decorated with colorful frills
and Happy Christmas Slogans, a remainder of the Christmas celebratioins. Now
we were at the entrance of Panchamukhi village with a huge Gopuram greeting
us. But I grew nervous at the site of a huge Church under construction here
with a big Red Cross hung atop.

I looked inside the autorickshaw and saw a photo of Lord Krishna pasted on
the top. I found hope and asked the driver in hindi why were so many
churches being built in this area. He replied in typical Andhra tone
addressing me as "Sir", he said "Sir every village in this district has more
then one church. Some villages have 100% Christian population. Foreign se
bahut paisa aata hai( Lot of money flows from foreign). They (missionaries)
build new houses for poor and give them vehicles like jeeps and rickshas for
a living. Sir this region is very poor and farmers have gone bankrupt due to
scant rains". He became quiet and I felt frustrated and the silence
continued. I visited the Panchmukhi temple , a peaceful and serene place.
While returning by the same road I again came across the Christian areas.
The houses of the converts were newly and well built. The church was abuzz
with activity with a huge crowd gathered in the compound. A old temple , few
yards away was in a shabby and locked state.

The same night I took a train for Titupati , the abode of Lord
Venkateshwara. I intended to get down at Renigunta Junction ,10 Km away from
Tirupati. As My train neared the Renigunta station I was greeted by the
glimpse of a huge Red colored Cross atop a newly built church. I reached
Tirumala by Bus and completed the darshan by evening. Then I returned to
Tirupati and visited Padmavati temple. Since I had few hours still left for
my train back to Mumbai, I visited the still being built, magnificent
Krishna temple of ISKCON. While returning from the interiors of the Tirupati
town by auto rickshaw I was shocked to see a huge Church named JAGANMATHA
CHURCH, the same one which we saw in the conversion video.

I am sure that Andhra Pradesh has atleast 40% Christians in the interior
remote areas.
I prayed to Lord Venkateshwara to help us stop this menace which is
destroying sanatana dharma and sanatana culture.

This dissertation acknowledges the need for Church PlantingMovements among the unreached peoples of India. *Of particular concern to this study is the application of Church Planting Movement strategy to forward caste Hindus of India. * It traces the historical development of group or people movement strategy and then compares that strategy with traditional missionary approaches in India. It shows that evangelizing households is the primary strategy of the New Testament and the most appropriate strategy for initiating Church Planting Movements. The thesis carefully examines salvation understanding in the Hindu context and its relationship to the caste system. All of this lays a foundation for a proper approach to evangelization of forward caste Hindus in light of the fact that there have been no documented Church Planting Movements among forward caste Hindus in all of India.

*The paper concludes that the best approach to facilitating a Church Planting Movement among forward caste Hindus is by not planting churches.* As
contradictory as this sounds, the paper shows that Christian disciples remaining within Hindu culture and familial systems holds the potential for the most indigenous approach to establishing multiplying churches among forward caste Hindus.

<b>Try the Vatican. The small nation-city ruled by Pope Benedict XVI apparently sees more criminal cases per capita than any other part of the world, the German magazine Spiegel reports.</b>

That's according to statistics released by the Vatican's attorney general, Nicola Picardi.

In 2006, the tiny nation's justice department had to contend with 341 civil and 486 criminal cases. With a population of 492, that measures out to 1.5 cases per person — 20 times the corresponding rate in Italy.

Another surprising statistic about the rampant crime in the Vatican is that it exists despite a security force that would put a police state to shame. The <b>seat of the Catholic Church has one Swiss guard for every four citizens, plus museum guards and police assigned to the Vatican by the Italian government</b>.

<b>Picardi said most criminal cases were matters of purse-snatching or pickpocketing. The rest amounted to other petty crimes like fraud and forgery, committed by a handful of the 18 million pilgrims and tourists who visit St. Peter's Cathedral, St. Peter's Square and the Vatican museums every year.</b>

<b>According to the Vatican, about 90 percent of these crimes go unpunished because it is easy for the perpetrators to slip across the border into Italy, which is just a few yards away</b>.

Even if it were able to catch and prosecute every pickpocket, the Vatican would have to send them to Italy to serve out their sentences, since it has no prison system.

No one knows what is happening in Burma. I think it not improbable that christoterrorists working in the telegraph or whoever came up with this news article - seems like manufactured news, an advertisement to attract all those missionaries-on-fire-for-christ, who love nothing better than proselytising in countries where they think their lives will be in terrible danger. It's christoislamism's sado-masochistic fetish: many southern Baptist and other evangelicals in the US love the idea of christians being persecuted (they feel it vindicates their faith), and the worse this imagined persecution is, the more attractive it is to them.

More indication that this news is manufactured by a christoterrorist advertising Burma as a worthwhile challenge for the harvest:
'The Christian religion is very gentle' - ask Buddhists in Korea, Taiwan, Thailand or Japan whether they think this is remotely true. All those I know swear this is the most violent religion (the Thai think Islam is just the same). Methinks people in Buddhist Burma wouldn't believe this 'christianity is gentle' nonsense either, and the so-called document they found is probably one of the many christian forgeries: a cry of international colonial help to secure Burma for christ.
Buddhism is the very gentle religion in the comparison (the natural religions of southern and eastern parts of Asia are in general). Only a christian would pretend that 'the gentle christian religion' is being ruthlessly persecuted by the 'evil Buddhist religion'.

The Burmese army is purging Burma of many people, but I doubt they care enough about christianity to bother targetting them specifically on account of their 'gentle' religion. Christianity is often marked as an undesirable, but not exclusively so. Only christians feel especially selected for what they consider 'an honour'. Self-conceit.

In India, the various Hindu communities are 'ethnically distinct' and are not Hindu or related to the rest. Each 'caste' (I suppose they mean jati) is a separate ethnicity to the christosracists. In Vietnam, they identify numerous 'tribes' yet again - all 'animist' (actually part of a long-standing Vietnamese natural religion often with significant Hindu and Buddhist influences), meaning they can be converted separately. Then in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea - same thing. Nepal too: the 'upper castes' are the 'Hindoos'. Then there's some who are Buddist. And now in Burma: the christoterrorists tell the world that the Burmese want to create an ethnically and religiously homogeneous country. Yes there are many tribes all over the world, especially in ancient countries and continents, untouched by christoislamic terrorism (or those that survived this). But then, Europe is one and all tribes: Germany is wholly made up of tribes that only got together very, very recently. But they are all Germans aren't they? No one questions their religious or ethnic affiliation on account of their separate historic tribal affiliation?

Now all that is required is to forge some document to this effect, set up several human rights groups that will remain anonymous in news reports, and then send out a call for world Buddhists to descend on Texas to prevent the Buddhists there from being persecuted and to ensure further expansion of Buddhist Dharma. (Actually, this version is largely true. There is a significant Buddhist presence of locals in Texas and not all of them feel at home there anymore because of christoterrorism.)

The lovers and connoisseurs of Telugu language and literature are finally able to see one of their esteemed benefactor's face. For the first time the photograph of Charles Philip Brown, a prominent British civil servant who worked in Kadapa region and contributed immensely to the conservation of Telugu manuscripts and promote Telugu language and poetry, has been discovered by a Telugu scholar in a remote village of Chittoor district.
   
CP Brown, who died in 1884 and was popularly called Brown Dora among Telugus, won the hearts and respect of the people by his contributions like compilation of a Telugu dictionary called Brownayya Nighavantuvu. He had also played a significant role in the publication of the poetry of Vemana, the legendary Telugu poet.

But one thing which always rankled the hearts of the lovers of Telugu language and literature was the absence of any photograph of Brown and they knew him only through some imaginary sketches and paintings of the man drawn on the basis of some verbal records.

However after painstaking search of many years, a Telugu scholar, BS Reddy traced the black and white photo of Brown Dora at the house of Sanjivigari Subba Rao of Yellutla village under Gorrkaunda Mandal of Chittoor district.

BS Reddy said that he came to know from Saligrama Srinivascharyulu about the presence of the photograph of PC Brown along with the three other persons during one of his visits to Vayalapadu and procured with his help from Yellutla village. Five palm leaf manuscripts were also collected from the same village.

The Telugu scholars and literateurs are immensely happy that more than 122 years after his death, PC Brown has come back to 'life' for them. <!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

He was colonial administrator in Cuddapah region. He compiled Telugu-English dictionary. What ever his/colonial motivation may be, it is a good book. More importantly, he collated Vemana (Vema Reddy - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vemana) moral poems from various written and oral sources in and around Cuddapah region. That is his greatest contribution to Telugu literature.

I don't think there was any evangelical motivation surrounding his linguistic works. He learned Telugu as part of Colonial govt order to learn local languages.

I am no expert, but I think this is part of the ongoing conversion party by the Vatican. Move in and slowly displace their traditions is the MO. Now, I would love see people ask the following in the church:

Who was Yeshu praying to?

If converted father says Vishnu, Q is :why do we need him to pray for us when we pray direclty to Vishnu? And how come Yeshu is not mentioned in our scriptures?

If converted father says Gawd of the White Guys (or words to that effect), then Q is: that is wierd! Father, cast off your delusions and become Hindu instead of trying to legitimize a fictional b@stard child.

Part of the inculturation strategy to subvert dharma, this strategy pays great dividends among the illiterate because they think xtianity is just like other Indian religions by seeing all these outward display's.

The strategy is to slowly delink even 100% Hindu practices from Hinduism and appropriate them as their own, "xtian yoga" and "xtian bharatanatyam" are an example.

Take Onam in Kerala, it's a pukka Hindu regional festival based on the Mahabali story but today it's called "Kerala festival" or "Malayalee festival" and anyone trying to reassert the festivals true meaning is branded a "Hindu communalist".

This is nothing new, look at all the pagan festivals and also philosophy that the xtians appropriated and now claim as their own, they have the same fate in mind for Hinduism.

I have more respect for the tablighis because atleast they don't mince words and are honest when they say that all the Indian culture influenced by Hindus is repulsive and should be disowned, but the church on the other hand uses our culture to subvert dharma and foolish RSS applauds this nonsense in their mouthpieces as an example of "Indianisation".
