Reuters / London
An eccentric British millionairess marries a dolphin. Jean Di Marino reports. Though the bridegroom didn't offer a ring, Sharon Tendler wed the love of her life, Cindy the dolphin, at an Israeli resort.

Theirs is a long history. Tendler thought he was a good catch when they first met 15 years ago in Eilat. On the wedding day the 41-year-old rock concert promoter from London said she couldn't wait to begin the honeymoon so they could have a "private moment."

The bride Sharon Tendler said: "I came to the dolphin reef, when it first opened and the first dolphin that ever came to me was Cindy and at that moment, I fell in love with him. I have been coming back for 15 years.

"We've got a prenuptial agreement - that he's allowed to go off with all the other girls but when I come back it's only me," she told an applauding audience. <!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

MUMBAI: Ashish Goyal looks like a typical 25-year-old in a loose T-shirt, jeans and a jacket thrown over. He parties regularly, likes hanging out at pubs and discos and loves watching movies with friends.

The only difference is that he is one of the few Indians who have made it to Wharton, USA, for an MBA. And he's blind.

He wasn't born blind, but gradually began losing vision after the age of 15 due to a disease called retinitis pigmentosa.

By 18, he couldn't see at all. Through the trauma he went through during those painful years, he realised that he had an important choice to make.

<b>CLASH OF CIVILIZATION BEGINS</b>

Protests Over Muhammad Drawings Intensify By IBRAHIM BARZAK, Associated Press Writer

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Outrage over caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad erupted in a swell of protests across the Muslim world Friday, with demonstrators demanding revenge against Denmark and death for those they accuse of defaming Islam's holiest figure.

In Iraq, the leading Shiite cleric denounced the drawings first published in a Danish newspaper in September, one of which depicted the prophet wearing a turban shaped as a bomb. But the cleric also suggested militant Muslims were partly to blame for distorting the image of Islam.

Some European newspapers reprinted the caricatures this week, prompting protests Friday in Britain, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia and Palestinian areas. In Sudan, some even urged al-Qaida terrorists to target Denmark.

"Strike, strike, Bin Laden," shouted some in a crowd of about 50,000 who filled a Khartoum square.

The U.S. and British governments criticized publication of the caricatures as offensive to Muslims, raising questions about whether the line between free speech and incitement had been crossed.

The Danish government tried to contain the damage. Foreign Minister Per Stig Moeller called Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and said the Danish government "cannot accept an assault against Islam," according to Abbas' office.

On Monday, Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen said his government could not apologize on behalf of a newspaper, but that he personally "never would have depicted Muhammad, Jesus or any other religious character in a way that could offend other people."

Many Muslims consider the Danish government's reaction inadequate.

Clerics in Palestinian areas called in Friday prayers for a boycott of Danish and European goods and the severing of diplomatic ties. Tens of thousands of incensed Muslims marched through Palestinian cities, burning the Danish flag and calling for vengeance.

"Whoever defames our prophet should be executed," said Ismail Hassan, a tailor who marched in the pouring rain with hundreds of other Muslims in the West Bank city of Ramallah. "Bin Laden our beloved, Denmark must be blown up," the protesters chanted.

Foreign diplomats, aid workers and journalists began pulling out of Palestinian areas Thursday because of kidnapping threats against some Europeans.

In Iraq, about 4,500 people protested in the southern city of Basra, burning the Danish flag. Some 600 worshippers stomped on Danish flags before burning them outside Baghdad's Abu Hanifa Mosque, Sunni Islam's holiest shrine in Iraq. Demonstrators also burned Danish journalists in effigy and torched boxes of Danish cheese.

Iraq's leading Shiite cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, condemned the publications as a "horrific action."

But in remarks posted on his Web site, al-Sistani referred to "misguided and oppressive" segments of the Muslim community whose actions "projected a distorted and dark image of the faith of justice, love and brotherhood."

Islamic law, based on clerics' interpretation of the Quran and the sayings of the prophet, forbids any depictions of the Prophet Muhammad, even positive ones, to prevent idolatry.

British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw criticized European media for reprinting the caricatures. While free speech should be respected, Straw said "there is not any obligation to insult or to be gratuitously inflammatory."

The State Department called the drawings "offensive to the beliefs of Muslims" and said the right to freedom of speech must be coupled with press responsibility.

"Inciting religious or ethnic hatred in this manner is not acceptable," State Department press officer Janelle Hironimus said.

In Damascus, Syria, entrances to the Al-Murabit mosque were strewn with Danish, Israeli and American flags so worshippers could trample them as they entered. Banners outside called for a boycott of Danish, European and U.S. products "until Denmark is brought to its knees, regretting this farce of freedom of expression."

Some 1,500 worshippers in Jordan marched in the northeastern city of Zarqa, demanding that Denmark prosecute the cartoonist who drew the caricatures.

Pakistan's parliament unanimously passed a resolution condemning the cartoons as a "vicious, outrageous and provocative campaign."

And in Jakarta, Indonesia, more than 150 Muslims stormed a high-rise building housing the Danish Embassy and tore down and burned the country's flag.

What this Danish PM (and almost every non-muslim) don't know is that to draw any kind of picture-and kind, be it a stick figure of smiley face-of the prophet is forbidden in Islam. Just one of the many measures Islam has sought to protect its own barbaric kill the non-muslim, rape their women, destroy their culture type rituals sanctioned by the prophet. Any sort of inquiry into Islam is nipped at the bud.

Hello my hindu brothers, My name is Jørgen Jørgensen part danish part italian.

I like to show you people some pictures that may interest you, the pictures of Mohamed. Jyllands posten (a danish newspaper) published thise pictures because they want to defend the right of freedom of speech!

Denmark right now is experiencing the anger of the muslims around the world, and they started to boycot denmark's industrial produce like Arla (milk, cheese, butter) meanwhile in U.S.A some goodwilling people start a campaign buy Danish to support the freedom of speech in Denmark and in the world.

How about you Hindu start a campaign "buy danish" for solidarity to Denmark and Jylland posten?

I hope sincerely the hindus join the "war" for the freedom, we cant permit the moslems to silence our voice.

It’s worth remembering that Islamic fundamentalists have been publishing an endless stream of Nazi-style hate cartoons against Israel, United States and others, including the hindus. But that’s OK. Killing people is good, if they are infidels and condemned by Allah. Drawing satirical cartoons of Mohammed will get you a death warrant.

Remember that Denmark was the only Nazi-occuppied European country that came out of World War Two with its moral reputation intact. The Danes just didn’t put up with Jews being sent to concentration camps. They smuggled them out to neutral Sweden.

Maybe Denmark will have the honor of being the first European country to stand against today’s Islamic fascism.

Two sides can play at this boycott game. Buy Danish!

Sincerely yours

Jørgen Jørgensen

Domino's Pizza Founder Plans Catholic Only Town

'Pizza pope' builds a Catholic heaven

Tony Allen-Mills, New York

A FORMER marine who was raised by nuns and made a fortune selling pizza has embarked on a £230m plan to build the first town in America to be run according to strict Catholic principles.

Abortions, pornography and contraceptives will be banned in the new Florida town of Ave Maria, which has begun to take shape on former vegetable farms 90 miles northwest of Miami.

Tom Monaghan, the founder of the Domino’s Pizza chain, has stirred protests from civil rights activists by declaring that Ave Maria’s pharmacies will not be allowed to sell condoms or birth control pills. The town’s cable television network will carry no X-rated channels.

The town will be centred around a 100ft tall oratory and the first Catholic university to be built in America for 40 years. The university’s president, Nicholas J Healy, has said future students should “help rebuild the city of God” in a country suffering from “catastrophic cultural collapse”.

Monaghan, 68, sold his takeaway chain in 1998 for an estimated $1 billion (£573m). A devout Catholic who has ploughed millions into religious projects — including radio stations, primary schools and a Catholic law faculty in Michigan — Monaghan has bought about 5,000 acres previously used by migrant farmers.

The land on the western edge of the Everglades swamp will eventually house up to 30,000 people, with 5,000 students living on the university campus. Florida officials have declared the project a development bonanza for a depressed area, and Governor Jeb Bush attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the new university earlier this month.

Yet civil rights activists and other watchdogs concerned about the separation of church and state are threatening lawsuits if Ave Maria attempts to enforce Catholic dogma. Environmentalists have also complained the town will restrict the habitat of the Florida panther, an endangered species.

None of which has deterred Monaghan, who initially tried to build his new university in Michigan but could not get permission. Asked recently about possible lawsuits in Florida, he replied: “That’s great. That would be the best publicity we could get.”

The Florida developers managing the project claim more than 7,000 people have already expressed interest in buying homes in the town. Retailers and other businesses are reportedly close to leasing 60% of the intended commercial space.

Monaghan was sent to a Catholic orphanage with his brother James after the death of their father on Christmas Eve 1941. After serving with the US Marines and later dropping out of university, he founded Domino’s in 1960 with his brother, who sold back his share for a Volkswagen Beetle.

Monaghan then set about building what became America’s second-largest pizza chain. He collected antique cars, bought a yacht and became the owner of the Detroit Tigers baseball team.

About 15 years ago he read Mere Christianity by CS Lewis. “That was a big turnaround,” he said recently. “I decided to simplify my life. No more airplanes, no more yachts. It’s been a big relief.”

Sources close to the project said Monaghan was particularly disturbed by what he regards as the failure of western civilisation to resist Islamic fundamentalism. In a speech to students last year Healy warned that Islam “no longer faces a religiously dynamic West”.

Healy described the “virtual collapse of Europe” as “one of the most profound and unsettling developments of our new century”. He added: “If you consider the more telling signs, such as its plummeting birth rate, Europe does not even seem to believe in a future . . . children are a sign of hope and the fruit of obedience to God’s command to be fruitful and multiply.”

Monaghan has argued that the owners of the town’s commercial properties will be free to impose conditions in leases — notably the restriction on the sale of contraceptives. But that has been challenged by Howard Simon, executive director of the Florida branch of the American Civil Liberties Union.

Simon said the US Supreme Court had already ruled “ownership [of a town] does not always mean absolute dominion”. “If he wants to build a town and encourage like-minded people to come and live there, that’s fine. We get into problems where he tries to exercise governmental authority.”

Frances Kissling, president of a liberal Catholic group supporting women’s rights to contraception and abortion, said the idea of a Catholic town was “very disturbing”.

“We have to learn to tolerate the fact that there are other religions — as well as non-believers — and the interplay of cultures helps make each of us more productive members of society. A Catholic-only town goes totally against that.”

Lawsuits appear inevitable once the new town begins functioning in 2007, but Monaghan believes he has more than the law on his side. “I think it’s God’s will to do this,” he said.

Aghori Tantrik is Indian. It is a musical project in full force of existence. It is balanced and sometimes unbalanced. It is not Indian Classical Music.

This is a kind of music best categorised as Psychedelic Trance!
Aghori Tantrik is an alter ego musical representation of Siddharth Agrawal (22 yrs). Siddharth uses the latest cutting edge electronic musical synthesis technology to give an open minded psychedelic sound experience about the life of being an aghori tantrik.

While some may not understand this connection between technology and tantric philosophy..it goes back to ancient times and stories of Lord Shiva and his leftist followers. They danced as Bhoots and believed in ultimate liberation of the soul from worldly possesions. This is the subject of songs of the Aghori Tantrik.

Siddharth is also a professional DJ from the age of 16. Starting out playing techno, commercial hip-hop, drum n bass and hindi remixes. Discovered the sound of trance in 2001 and ever since decided to express art in this new age psychedelic form of music.

Believes in Giving the dancers and listeners a kaliedoscopic dancing environment with spiritual overtones for deep mental, psychological and spiritual healing.

You can find out more about this new form of madness gripping the open minded internet/hippie/dancer community at the following website:

Hello everyone.

I have always had an interest in World War 2 era history, with an emphasis on Axis history. What really caught my eye was the immense number of foreign troops in the German army. Over 1 million Russian soldiers fought under them, and interestingly enough, so did over 3000 Indian soldiers.
2 years ago, several of my friends introduced me to their hobby of World War 2 reenacting, which is kind of like a mobile museum exhibit, with different events scattered throughout the year that depicts to the visiting public what the life of a soldier was during the war. Whether they are American, German, Russian, British, Polish, most of the major players in the European Theater are represented. We get dressed up in authentic uniforms, carry real weapons, set up actual WW2 era camps, and give touring spectators presentations on what the equipment is and how it was used. Also, mock battles are put on for the public, using real tanks and vehicles and even WW2 aircraft. The 2 major events in the Midwest draw as many as 500 reenactors and thousands of spectators. It's all good fun. Something I've noticed though is the tiny amount of foreign soldiers represented in the Axis forces. So...

What I want to do is to change that. I'm looking for young Indian men in the Chicago/Midwest area who would have an interest in forming a reenacting unit portraying the 950th Indische Infantrie Regiment, also known as the Free India Legion of the German Army. Our goal would be to accurately represent the brave men who fought for the ideal of liberating their home country from the British.

If anyone is interested, you can send me an email at emojoerocks@hotmail.com, or just comment here. I'd really like to teach people about a lesser known part of world history, and not let the memory of the soldiers die.

To read about the Free India Legion, there is an excellent article dealing with its creator and its formation right on this very forum, located at:
http://www.india-forum.com/forums/index.ph...56&hl=azad+hind

To view some photos of some previous reenactments in Indiana and Illinois, here are some links from a group I am associated with:

Reenacting groups are entirely apolitical organizations, neither harboring, nor condoning, nor tolerating the beliefs of Nazi Germany, Fascism, or any other radical ideals. The organizations are for the education of the public, and to have a good time doing it <!--emo&Smile--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Well, the most I know about the unit is described in the above mentioned article. I haven't been able to find much specific information about them, other than just short reports or news articles readily available on the internet. The best source for information is always from veterans, but all of the German WW2 veterans I have personally spoken with know little or nothing about the Free India Legion, as they were assigned to different fronts of the war. I do have some pictures I've found in my searches, and I will post them in the morning because I have to transfer them off my old computer, which I am too tired to boot up right now <!--emo&Tongue--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' /><!--endemo--> . In Europe, from what I can tell, they were mostly used as a garrison force in German occupied France, haven their vehicles and heavy weapons taken away for use in the Eastern Front against the Russians. That is, although, initially, the plan was to use them to march to Indian via Russia and the Middle East before the German defeat at Stalingrad. Also, there are many reports that the unit was inducted into the elite SS divisions by the end of the war, with its own specific designation and insignia, although there is some contraversy over this subject. I will post more information tomorrow though, as it is already 1 A.M. here, and I'm very tired.
So, in review, I am still gathering as much information as I can on the subject, and if you or anyone you know may be interested in either helping with research or actually joining the reenacting unit, please don't hesitate to ask for more details at the email address above.
Until we speak again,
Shubha raatri.

China's Serious Pollution Problem

Are you going to China? Then I will tell you pollution in China is very serious. The Chinese and government official's environmental protection consciousness is very low. The Chinese industry economy increases quickly; pollution grows more serious more; and the great majority of Chinese are insensitive to the pollution. This is a Chinese, as well as, global disaster in the making. I request you help China.

Car and motorcycle traffic is increasing greatly. The population in China is multitudinous"1300000000".is five times as the population of the US. China is short of cultivated land. in spite of this case,The Chinese government is developing the private car industry greatly, new highway construction will take up large areas of land. Traffic accidents increased greatly. In 2003 200,000 people died in traffic accidents in China.

Building development is in mass confusion. Building technique is primitive and building in consuming large amounts of materials. In 2003 China poured 44% of the world's cement. Building a house will consume more amounts of cement brick and decorative colorful brick in China than The Western Nation. But these houses make little use of insulation letting heat flow out in the winter and letting the heat in during the hot summer months. House repairs are more difficult, too.chinese concerns beauty of own house very much, but chinese don't concern about environment round the house.they spend large money on their own house, but they are stingy in cost of the environment around their house.

Garbage removal is primitive.chinese don't know Garbage classification.waste plastic bags is visible everywhere. The Chinese people like to use plastic bags and batteries just once and then throw them away.china government pay great attention to beauty of city.they afford large money in images structure of city.but they pay little attention to garbage classification.large amounts of garbage is made by large consumption.

River is polluted by chemical fertilizer, pesticide, herbicides, chemical synthetic detergent(washing powders),industry waste water, human excrement and urine, garbage.waste water excrement and urine flow directly into river without any sanitation practices.the most river in china is unsuitable for drinking.many china people is harmed by drinking water in polluted river.

Education in protecting environment is blank. People's understanding and concept of protecting the environment is quite low. China's people are poor, but they are not frugal.Chinese are concerned the beauty of house but don't concerned the beauty of environment,Chinese are concerned about their own health but don't care about environmental health. They like to inject and swallow more medicines, eat more wild animals, but they don't realize that the polluted food, water and air is threatening their health greatly.

China is imitating the West's high pattern of consumerism. Chinese hope per a people owning private car and Motorcycle, living big and big house. Consuming large power source as Western nations do. The Chinese government is making effort to realize this aim. China is producing large cars and motorcycles, large cement and brick.Exploiting large coal mines and oil field, large ore mines. Building large multi-story buildings and huge highway construction patterns. Enlarging blindly more and more area of cities and towns land. Large areas of land are damaged by the exploitation of natural resources.

The population in China is multitudinous, 1.3 billion(perhaps 1.4or1.5 billion)people, five times the population of the US. China is short of cultivated land. The actual situation demands that China doesn't imitate the West's high consumption. China should develop electronic information consumption. Should develop economizing energy industries. If not, the Chinese would ruin their own environment,in further more, affect the global environment.

The Chinese don't realize that pollution is their most dangerous enemy.

<b>Reservation & Education : The inner story</b>

Mandal commission has revisited India in another name. The past is known to all of us. We all know the two brave son of nation set them on fire for the protest of it.

The GOI is set to make the law for the 49.5%(15%SC, 7.5%ST, 27%OBC) of reservation policy in education sector to all the levels. This also is the beginning of reservation in jobs in both public and private sector. There was some fee hike in IIMs and a lot of discussion was made on it. My this post will be a try to the inner angle of the story with different prospects.

<b>Angle 1</b>:The onle angle of the whole issue is to make social welfare engineering. In fact if there is a homogeneous representation of every class then there will be same representaion as per the reservation wagon wheel. The unprivileged has been denied of basic facility and discriminated for long times. Even in case of IIMs fee hike the poor and common student of the nation can not afford to pay the lacs fee of IIMs. So there should not be so high fee in these reputed institues.

<b>Angle2 </b> : The talent of the so called upper class students and people will go in vain. It leads to detoriation of talent pool and quality. Reservation if granted should be on the basis of the economical status. The flunked candiadates from the upper class feels frustrated and cheated. In IIMs fee hike the fee hike is geninune as it is required to keep the quality of the education. The fee is nothing to the handsome salary the IIM alumuni gets.

If both angles are studied without the pre concieved notions the all looks geniune on there parts.

<b><i>My Angle</i></b>: The money used in imparting education in IIM and IIT are much higher than the fee taken by the students. This infrastructure has been built by the money of the nation. This nation money has been the contribution or tax collection from the pooorest to the richest of the country. This leads to a moral boundage to these students. The private firms and company makes one to sign the bond to serve for certain tennure for money spend on the training. Should government takes steps to make use of these talents in there fields with legal bondings to work for in lieu of the well seduced education. I think the goverment has to be professional and strict on these issue. If students opt for MNC then the nation is in great loss and the whole sole of the money is wasted. There should be nothing free in this world. Already the scientific, defense science and manegerial skills are making us to lag behind the others. I think IITians and IIMians has to serve the nation than the MNC just for the sake of money. On the other hand I do not believe in the concept of reservation at all. Even if one select for the economic status for the reservation issues a new problem of dividing line and corruption. There is a just a need to provide equal oppourtunities by providing free and equal and mandatory education till 12. The equal and mandatory education will lead to development of vision among the students to look from open minded approah for the benifit of all and the nation. The students are the ultimate power for the nation and has to be guided to a correct path. Remember the freedom struggle, JP Movement, China's democaratic demand by students it shows the importance of us students and youth. In recent times the youth of France has compelled the French govt to take back anti-youth acts.

There is a need of coherence in thoughts among different masses of youth. The clashes and differences in thoughts is because of the different backgrounds and short term goals. The question of who is right and who is wrong cannot be answered in comprehensive manner. There is a need of talented work force in govt programmes and organization. Who will keep the flags of Nuclear development, Satellite programme, Green revolution etc. The MNC are here for the cost cutting and the dolar turn to 45-46 times in India. This is the reason why we are getting the huge amount in MNC and IT world. If we start with allegation both the sides will be found dirty. Lets do not run away from the problem and the RAVANA of our mind. If an electrical engineer from IIT opts for the IT markety the country looses one skilled and potential resource for power management of the country. The electrical grid system in the nation is the unique and the best of its kind. I do not blame much on the commom students as they have limited oppourtunities and choices. <b>"The more powerful you are the more responsible you should be."</b>.

The message is simple if you want to serve the nation the nation should serve you with priveliges otherwise be ready to pay as per the market and business rules.
