"Some crook will come and murder them," he said in an interview to the CNN-IBN programme Devil's Advocate. One of the consequences will be... we have paid the price of Maqbool Butt's hanging by the judge who was shot in Kashmir... let me be candid with you: Those judges will need to be protected like anything.
Last month a New Delhi court set October 20 as the date for the hanging of Kashmiri Mohammed Afzal, triggering violent protests in Indian Kashmir.
"You want to hang him? Go ahead and hang him ... this nation will go up in flames because the terrorists will do things which will destroy the relationship of the Hindus and Muslims here," Abdullah told CNN-IBN news channel.
"Kashmir will anyway go up in flames ... there will (also) be turmoil which India will have to face. I am telling you."
Abdullah, a senior Kashmiri politician whose pro-India National Conference party has often ruled the state, was speaking in an interview to be telecast on Sunday, excerpts of which were released by the channel on Saturday.
Afzal was sentenced to death for his role in the attack when five gunmen stormed the parliament complex.
The gunmen were all shot dead. Kashmiri leaders have said hanging Afzal would fuel a Muslim separatist revolt in Indian Kashmir that has killed more than 45,000 people since 1989.
"You will be making him a hero for centuries to come ...you are giving a massive weapon to the separatists in Jammu and Kashmir," Abdullah told CNN-IBN .
Abdullah said the hanging would damage the peace process and could result in Musharraf being thrown out of office by Pakistan Army.
Afzal's wife has asked President A P J Abdul Kalam for clemency for her husband.
It is not clear if the hanging will be carried out on the set date as the President considers the clemency plea.

BUXAR: Even as uncertainity looms over execution of Parliament attack convict Mohammed Afzal Guru with his clemency petition pending with the President, Tihar jail authorities have purchased the special 'Manila' rope to be used for his hanging from Buxar jail.
A team of Tihar jail took the hanging rope with them on Saturday, Superintendent of Buxar Jail I H Ansari said on Sunday.
Ansari said the hanging rope weighed 3.75 kg and is 60 feet long and its price was Rs 1,820 at the rate of Rs 180 per kg besides the additional sales tax and VAT.
The Buxar jail has expertise in manufacturing the wax-coated Manila rope which can easily withstand the tension caused by the fall of a man upto 80 kg of bodyweight sent to gallows.
Stating that a lot of care goes into manufacturing of Manila rope to ensure that hanging is a "smooth affair", Ansari said the jail also produces several kinds of ropes used with handcuffs and also for pitching tents.
The jail, probably the only one in the country manufacturing such ropes, supplies all kinds of ropes to different jails, he said, adding that the demand for its famed Manila rope has diminished as there are fewer executions now.
The last time a Manila rope was sent from Buxar jail was in year 2004 for the hanging of Dhananjay Chatterjee at Alipore jail, Kolkata, in the sensational rape-cum-murder case of a school girl.
Hanging is so expensive; they should give him lethal injection as they do in US.

Jammu: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir has demanded ex-chief minister Farooq Abdullah's arrest under the Public Safety Act, a law invoked for terrorists or their sympathisers in the state.
Angered by Abdullah's comment that India "will go up in flames" if Mohammed Afzal, the prime accused in a 2001 parliament attack, is hanged, the BJP censured him for "inciting communal passions and instigating terrorists to physically harm the judges who announced capital punishment for Afzal".
The BJP held an extraordinary meeting at its state party headquarters on Sunday to deliberate on Abdullah's comments to a TV channel wherein he defended Afzal and warned against his execution.
The leaders stated at the meeting, "The National Conference leader has crossed all limits of not only decency but also openly threatened the Indian judicial system, rule of law and democracy."
The meeting also took note of the statements issued by People's Democratic Party's (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti and former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed pleading for clemency for Afzal.
The BJP leaders said Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has joined them. "Be it separatists or these leaders, all have fallen in the same line and are certainly a threat to the territorial integrity of the country."
Afzal was arrested in December 2001, within days of the Dec 13 assault on the parliament, and handed over to the Delhi Police.
Abdullah, the then chief minister, had advocated severe punishment for the parliament attackers.
However, he later changed his stand because of "political compulsions in Kashmir".

The hanging of Mohammed Afzal, convicted for his role in the 2001 attack on the Parliament, has been put off until a decision on a mercy petition filed by his wife, an official said on Thursday.
Afzal was due to be hanged at 6 am on Friday.
"Since his petition is pending before the president, the hanging will not take place tomorrow," Home Ministry spokesman Onkarmal Kedia said.
Under the law, the president can pardon people sentenced to death. However, not many mercy petitions have been granted in the past.
Farooq Abdullah had even said in a TV interview that India would "go up in flames" if Afzal was hanged.
Separately, Afzal's lawyers said they would approach the Supreme Court in a final attempt to prevent the execution, arguing that his conviction was flawed.
"We will argue that he cannot be hung merely on the grounds that his execution will satisfy the collective conscience of the nation," Nandita Haksar said.

JAMMU, Oct 18: Demanding death sentence for Parliament attack plotter, Mohammed Afzal Guru, Nationalist Muslim Movement warned that clemency to this dreaded terrorist will weaken nationalist forces.
Addressing a press conference, national convenor of Movement Mohammed Afzal strongly condemned mainstream politicians as well as separatists for demanding mercy for dreaded terrorist who was involved in attacking Parliament-the highest institution of the worldâs largest democracy.
The Muslim leader was of the opinion that intellectuals, who have been demanding mercy for Mohammed Afzal, are raising this demand only to get publicity. He strongly condemned statement of former Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah who had aired apprehension that judges will be murdered if Mohammed Afzal will be hanged.
Calling upon all nationalist forces to launch joint struggle against those self-styled intellectuals, who have been demanding clemency for dreaded terrorists, the Muslim leader said that Indian Government should not succumb before the threats and warning of anti-national forces.
Drawing attention of the self-styled intellectuals towards evil designs of terrorists, Mr Afzal pointed out that had attackers on Parliament managed to enter into the House what would happen then ? He asked the politicians to desist from demanding mercy for those terrorist who was conspirator to storm Indian Parliament.
As the hanging of Mohammed Afzal has been put off until a decision on a mercy petition, people sat down on dharna and paid their homage to the martyrs who had laid down their lives.

Delhi Home Department tells Union Govt
The Delhi Government's Home Department has recommended no clemency for Parliament attack case mastermind Mohammed Afzal Guru. According to sources, in a purely legal and administrative advice, the department in its note to the Union Home Ministry has said that 'religion and political appeasement could not be a ground for clemency.'
Law and order being a non-transferred subject in case of Delhi, the Home Department doesn't come under the purview of the Delhi Cabinet. Sources in the Home Department said the note stated that clemency to Afzal could have a long-term effect on the nation's internal security. The note said that the mercy petition filed by Afzal's wife clearly indicated his links with militant organisations active in Jammu & Kashmir and he doesn't deserve clemency, as he was the mastermind behind the attack on Parliament carried out on December 13, 2001.
Sources said that the Home Department has clearly noted that all courts, including the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court had found Afzal guilty and convicted him in the case on merit, and therefore, he did not deserve any clemency.
Giving para-wise reply to the Union Home Ministry query, the Home Department also warned that the entire nation was shaken when Lashkar-e-Tayyeba (LeT)'s militants attacked Parliament. During the attack, nine security personnel and a journalist on duty attained martyrdom
Afzal, who was to be executed on Friday morning at Tihar Jail, now gets a temporary reprieve as mercy petition filed by his wife is pending before President Abdul Kalam. The President has forwarded the clemency petition to the Home Ministry and it has initiated the process of consultation and sought comments from the Delhi Government as December 13, 2001 crime had occurred in its territory.
According to Indian laws, any mercy plea filed with the President is routed to the Home Ministry and then to the Union Cabinet, which then conveys its recommendations to the President. Although the President is not bound to follow the Cabinet's recommendations, he can act on the petition only after receiving them. Lawyers say a convict facing death sentence cannot be hanged till his or her mercy petition is rejected. Sir, ~ The debate over the question whether Afzal Guru should be hanged for proven complicity in the terrorist attack on Parliament is becoming more bizarre with the passing of each day, as the media gloats over the size and thickness of the hangman's noose said to be made in Buxar Central Jail!
It is time to examine the moral basis for death sentence. I am reminded of Alice in Wonderland wherein the Queen pronounces: "Sentence first ~ verdict afterwards." While the Kashmiri leaders, including a past and the present chief ministers, warn of a great conflagration in the valley in the event of the death sentence being carried out, it would be a civilised gesture for the government to have a fresh look at the capital punishment. In this context, I recall the fog-begrimed Friday of 6 January, 1989 when Satwant Singh, in the pink of youth, and a greying Kehar Singh were hanged in Delhi's Tihar Jail, for their alleged role in the assassination of Indira Gandhi. While Satwant had confessed, evidence against the elderly Kehar was purely circumstantial.
On the previous day, Ram Jethmalani had pleaded with a three-judge Bench of the Supreme Court, only to be turned down: "We see no reason to interfere with the rejection (of the mercy petition) by the President."
That same evening, India's sole representative on the International Commission of Jurists, Fali S Nariman telephoned the President, Mr R Venkataraman, to convey that the commission's secretary-general in Geneva had issued an appeal to the President of India for a reprieve for Kehar Singh. But Prem Kumar, secretary to the President, politely put off the caller: "Rashtrapatiji is sleeping and cannot be disturbed... At any rate, the President can only act on the advice of the council of ministers." The Prime Minister (Rajiv Gandhi) was holidaying with friends.
Kehar Singh's body, along with Satwant's, was hurriedly ~ almost surreptitiously ~ cremated in the jail premises. The whole episode was soon forgotten. There is a lesson to be learnt.

The nearly 1,000 persons gathered in Vigyan Bhawan on Friday to pay tributes to the victims of the triple blasts in Delhi on October 29, 2005 and Parliament attack case December 13, 2001 obviously agreed with this statement.
The front had organised an Anti-Terrorism Day for the adoption of the children orphaned in the aftermath of these blasts and providing financial aid for their career.
Among those who attended were BJP leader and former Bollywood actor Shatrughan Sinha, Shalini Dewan of UNIC, Manoj Raghuvanshi, a senior journalist, and some members of the UN security agencies and the Russian embassy. Families of victims of the Sarojini Nagar, Paharganj and Govindpuri blasts and Parliament attack were also present.
Cheques of Rs 1 lakh each were given to Manisha Michael (10), Keerti Mehra (9), and Ishika Sant (3), who lost their guardians during last year's Diwali blasts. Two other persons who received similar amounts were Vinod Poddar, who lost his right leg in the blast, and Kuldeep Singh, the DTC driver who saved many lives on that day and lost his eyes. The latter was also awarded the brave man award.
All these persons and other victims were given a memento and a shawl by the front. Every member in the hall was carrying a tricolour and joined little Manisha Michael, who sang the Aye mere Watan ke logo in her innocent voice.
<b>The guests on the dais were critical of the Government and all those politicians who favoured clemency for Afzal Guru. Manoj Raghuvanshi and Bihari Babu Shatrughan Sinha said that India needs crores of MS Bittas who are standing against terrorism like a wall.</b>
<b>"I am not in favour of killing anybody but fast track courts should be formed to try terrorist cases so that blast cases like Mumbai 1993 blasts that have taken more than 13 years in trial should not make our judiciary weak," said Shatrughan Sinha </b>in his speech.
Apologising on behalf of the whole media, Manoj Raghuvanshi said,<b> "We had given wrong information to the people that Delhi was targeted on the eve of Diwali or Eid but actually if we see the timings of the blast, which was 5.38 pm, it was one minute after the Iftar starts."</b>
On this, a person remarked that Raghuvanshi was targeting Muslims, creating a tense atmosphere in the hall for a few minutes. The gathering left the hall after singing the national anthem and remembering all the martyrs.
