I just want to commend India forum admins and creators for the wonderful work they are doing and have done. I feel that as compared to Bharat-Rakshak this site gives you a sense of lot more freedom to discuss things. I have actually been spending a lot more time here then on bharat-rakshak, which used to be my most visited forum.

Hats off to Admins/moderators and creaters of India-forum for the good work.

Ditto.. Same here, I used to frequent BRF more on an hourly basis (but just to readonly.) I feel for some reason, IF is fits my interests and also is a whiff of fresh air w.r.t. moderation.)

To Improve the quality, I would try and invite ppl in the know (specially, from my perch Samskrit Experts and also History buffs.)

I shall send an email to Dr. Ashok Aklujkar and see if he can spend some time on the Samskrit thread.

Sunder.

Content is the key.
1)Improve quality of discussion .Send out invitations to people with domain knowledge, people who are passionate about things and want to share it with others, people who want change and are ready to do something about it,people who have opinion based on solid reasons.
2)Start a monthly newsletter/magazine.
Added later:
Define a mission statement for the site.It will help in staying focused with a sense of purpose.

For the geeky admins..

yahoo groups supports RSS now. I suppose we could actually link up india-forum with some of the groups. It will enhance the contents of india-forum and automatically provide more contents ? I am sure senior guroos visit various yahoogroups - it would be nice to just readup on it without actually joining the forums ?

On the same track, I am sure other sources provide RSS support and can be tapped into for more content ?

One more suggestion..

All of us know about various mailing lists - yahoogroups for instance - which are focused enough. Say the recepient of the email is an india-forum mailbox we can have content (focussed) all in one place . We can have special types of threads which show these email-contents but cannot be responded to and so on.

I think that will enhance the forum - atleast something we can try out ?

I for one, like the font/color of sites like BRF/Google etc, which IMO, is very plain and simple. Is there an option to change the blue color/font etc... here. A lot of screen space can be saved. I think this will also help to attract more traffic and participation. Thanks for this opportunity and your patience.

ragesh_g: RSS feed

Regarding RSS feed for new content, we are in the process of getting articles from likes of Arindam, Kaushal etc to add a new section to our site. <!--emo&Wink--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Congrats to triple century membership, a few points tho :

1) The amount of separate threads spawning with one question distracts from the other threads. There seem to be a couple of threads discussing the same issue. Can one question threads be moved into a micellanous questions and answer thread?

2)Can the moved threads be deleted from the main boards :

<b>Indian History :</b>

Moved: Mahabharata
General Info, Versions, FAQ, Opinions

Moved: Sat Sri Akaal
Saying Hello to old friends from BR

<b>Strategic security of India :</b>

Moved: Pakistan, The Terrorist State
Real War on Terrorism is in Pakistan

<b>Current affairs and news :</b>

Moved: NRI Corner
Unoffical ambassadors of India

<b>General Topics </b>

Moved: Islamism: ideology, problems and reformation
Islamic ideology and reformation

Moved: Do we want a new name for the forum?
New name

3) Trying to skim and read through some threads is getting extremely laborious when some members post articles in their entirity taking up pages and pages and huge volume of info that becomes difficult to skim, cutting the choice of deciding if the article is really valid to discussions going on the last page.
Members like me are spending hours skimming and reading but not having the time to type up any valued comments because they'd just get buried in another 10 page article that someone posts after, not to mention copyright issues...

Possible <b>Please</b> if members post links with small summaries of what they consider important points about the article should we choose to read it...compressing data into maneageable amounts...

4) Thanks admins for the work that you are putting in and glad to see the forum is growing but a lot of the boards are choking up cos of the reasons above...can we start some deletion or archiving of some of the main threads thanks????

Just a general (dumb) question. Why do we close threads after certain number of posts ? Why 10 pages ? Never figured that out..

TIA

PS : I agree with Praneet N. Lets try to limit the number of threads. Sometimes when we want to post article or look up something it gets hard to decide where ?

Suppressing the code generating this info shld save screen space & clutter.

Ppl looking for lite cache/proxy check out for "wwwoffle" it has both *nix as well as Windows version. Some good features like search of local cache ( at you end ) , ad blocking security etc etc only you shld be willing to play with it

Ppl who just want ad blocking try bfliter.sourceforge.net *nix/as well as installable windows.

Rytha Boss why session only cookies ??
