Terror kills cricket hopes in US
<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->The possibility that a high-profile Muslim player might be denied a visa also deterred cricket's officialdom from rewarding the growing band of cricket fans in the US, mainly due to burgeoning immigration from South Asia and the Caribbean.

Who exactly is this "high-profile Muslim player" - what's his nationality? As usual they'll weasel out by saying it could be a "South Asian"

The real reason why US cricket isn't being granted Test status is that I am on injured reserve this year.

HELLO!!!!!
I bet ye of little faith did not believe me when I told you why the US wasn't winning the World Cricket Cup.
NOW read this:
http://us.rediff.com/cricket/2004/sep/10nz.htm
<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->U.S. all-rounder Charles Reid, who nearly missed the game after being stuck in Florida because of Hurricane Frances, was the most economical of the U.S. bowlers with one for 37 from his 10 overs.
The United States, who qualified for the 12-nation tournament through the ICC Six Nations Challenge, are a collection of part-timers with 42-year-old <b>Lambert</b> their best-known player.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Ha! And who was it that stood at midwicket and stopped a sure boundary shot from Lambert with his knee - and still went on to complete the match, took one catch despite some idiot running into him at the last moment, and then batted brilliantly against the 7-foot 300lb fast bowler on Lambert's team, until being sneakily got out
st. Lambert's kid, b. Lambert just a few runs (99 to be precise) short of a century?
As I mentioned before, only reason why US ain't winning is that THE top player in the US is out (probably on permanent basis) - injured reserve.
<!--emo&:guitar--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/guitar.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='guitar.gif' /><!--endemo-->
P.S. Lambert that day scored over 200 - in less than 40 overs. Not one of our most successful matches, sad to say. <!--emo&:flush--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Flush.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='Flush.gif' /><!--endemo-->
N-cube <!--emo& --><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo--> that was a bouncer boss! You'll have to bowl it again - a bit slow underarm (a la Chappel) for us 1 year olds to comprende.
Details of that match and the TOP player in US awaited <!--emo& --><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

See the scoreboard:
Clayton Lambert scored 39 against the NZ attack, and bowled 10-0-66-0. The US team should have sent Lambert and Lambert Jr as the opening pair .... like his Atlanta League team did against team where urs truly was playing.... Lambert is former Windies opener - debut against England, scored century....
300+ for no loss in 35 overs is very depressing...
And Oh! the sneakiness of bowling well wide of the leg stump, inviting certain leaden-footed batsmen to attempt a lazy leg-swipe, miss - and Lambert Jr the wicketkeeper was standing two feet to the left of the leg stump waiting to sweep the bails off....
<!--emo&:mad--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Mon dieu! Even our TSPians opponents here up north aren't that sneaky.
Added later: The certain leaden-footed batsmen ought to have taken it up with the umpire. The rules on wide along the leg side are pretty strict if I'm not mistaken.
PS:
Lambert
Unphortunately, leg-umpire was from our team onlee - idiot was in a hurry to raise his finger. <!--emo&:flush--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Flush.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='Flush.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Hi-tech ticketing for India-Australia Test
<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->Bangalore: The first match of the India-Australia cricket Test series in Bangalore next month will witness hi-tech ticketing with the launch of "Mobile-Ticketing", a new service that enables cricket fans across the world to book the tickets online.
The tickets would be delivered directly to their mobile phones. At the venue, they only need to place their phones on the sensor installed at the gates for entering the stadium. Spice Telecom and Karnataka State Cricket Association, after their "successful" and ongoing joint venture of Future Strokes, have again come together to launch the Mobile Ticketing in association with ConvergeLabs, a Spice Telecom release said.
This was the first time in the world, tickets for a cricket match would be received through mobile phone, it claimed. To buy M-Tickets for the inaugural test of the Gavaskar- Border trophy one needs to log in through http://www.kscaonline.com or www.spicetele.com or dial 919844100777 from their mobile phones (Spice Karnataka customers can dial 777) or SMS "cric" to 777 for booking tickets. Spice WAP users can log on to http://wap spicetele.com.
On successful booking, the ticket will be delivered on the phone as a special barcode, which the user will have to save on the handset till the end of the match. To gain entry into the stadium, spectators will need to authorise their ticket by getting their moblie phone scanned on the electronic barcode scanner at the stadium entrance on the days of the match, it said.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
