G. Devarajan, secretary, said at a press conference here on Monday that it was puzzling how Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was trying to push the nuclear treaty with the United States through. Mr. Devarajan also said that history would not forgive Dr. Singh for this and that the <span style='color:red'>latter would be the last Congress Prime Minister.</span>
The Forward Bloc leader said that the UPA government would fail to garner majority in the confidence vote slated for Tuesday.

Leader of the Opposition L K Advani's brief remark during his speech at the start of the keenly watched trust vote debate on Monday was read in political circles as a tacit admission that the government had the numbers to win the vote.
Advani, while ending his speech, said: "Even if the government survives tomorrow (Tuesday), they will have to go to people. And the people will give their verdict."
in his speech, Advani emphasised more on inflation, unequal growth and issues that are normally raised by the Left parties. He also indicated that unlike the Left and United National Progressive Alliance, who are anxious to bring down the government immediately, the Bharatiya Janata Party was prepared to wait.
An alliance in crisis
The BJP's approach has more to do with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's abrupt emergence at the centre-stage of pre-election politics. It seems clear that with Mayawati seizing the initiative and gaining momentum as a prime ministerial candidate, the BJP is not anxious to play into her hands and help in the toppling game for which the party would get little credit.
A senior MP from Tamil Nadu said that politics around the nuclear deal has taken an unexpected turn with Mayawati making an irreversible claim in the prime minister's race.
In the last few days, Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu [Images] and Communist Party of India-Marxist General Secretary Prakash Karat has given her the political spin that she lacked so far. It seems that Karat has been given the mandate by his party's Politburo to look for an enduring partnership with Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party.
While the key question of which side has the larger numbers will unfold only late on Tuesday, it is clear that there are clear cut dissensions within different parties, which will be revealed during the vote.
Unconfirmed reports say Congress leader Digvijay Singh's brother Laxman Singh, who is a BJP MP, is being pressured to abstain. It is learnt that three Rashtriya Janata Dal MPs had offered to cross over to Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal-United, but the Bihar chief minister declined the offer since the trio demanded that they be allowed to contest the the same constituency in the next election.
At the start of the debate there was much anticipation whether Speaker Somnath Chatterjee would pay heed to the reported demand from the CPI-M central committee to step down from the office. However, Chatterjee, whose wife, daughter and daughter-in-law watched the debate from the Speaker's gallery, presided over the proceedings and gave no indication that he would follow his party's diktat.
Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, Congress leader Rajiv Shukla, CPI-M Politburo member Brinda Karat and many other leaders were also present in the visitors' gallery.
<b>TDP chief meets Mayawati, Left leaders</b>
New Delhi (PTI): As the government seeks a trust motion in Lok Sabha today, Telegu Desam Party Chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday met BSP supremo Mayawati to discuss the future strategy of their political alliance.
The UNPA leader drove down to meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati at her Humayun Road residence this evening and left after an hour's discussion with her.
According to sources close to the UP Chief Minister, the two leaders had discussed their future strategy following the trust vote tomorrow.
During the day, Naidu also met CPI(M) general secretary Praksh Karat at the party headquarters here and then even caught up briefly with CPI leader A B Bardhan.
Rubbishing claims of the UPA government that they have the numbers to prove a majority at the house tomorrow, Naidu told PTI, "Government and the Congress party is desperate. They are indulging in horse trading, but it will not survive despite all their attempts."
Rejecting speculations that RLD chief Ajit Singh and JD(S)supremo H D Deve Gowda were considering to support the government, he said, "I am in touch with both Gowda and Singh they have entrusted their support to with us," he said.

Udupi: MP Manorama Madhwaraj said on Saturday that the nuclear deal with the U.S. will not guarantee energy security for the country. Instead, the country should harness the abundant solar, wind, geothermal, tidal wave and other renewable sources, which would guarantee energy security without affecting the environment.
In a press release issued here, Ms. Madhwaraj said that three top scientists such as former chairman of Atomic Energy Commission P.K. Iyengar, former chief of Atomic Energy Regulatory Board A. Gopalkrishnan and former director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre A.N. Prasad had written to the Members of Parliament that there were several loopholes in the nuclear agreement with the U.S. According to them, the deal would not be governed by the agreement but controlled by the U.S. domestic laws, including the Hyde Act.
âThe Union Government has been harping around the idea that the nuclear deal will provide energy security to the nation. When the agreement does not provide guarantee of fuel supplies, how could energy security be achieved?,â she asked.Scientists had confirmed that adequate solar energy fell on earthâs surface every 40 minutes to meet the entire energy needs of the world.
By tapping a portion of this energy, the country could meet all its electricity needs. There was abundant wind power, geothermal, tidal wave and other renewable sources which had been neglected in favour of large contracts, the MP said.
âFor us here, power outages have become the order of the day, not because we are short of generating capacity in the State, but because of vulnerable transmission lines, substations, and gross inefficiency of power sector, and problems related to supply of coal,â she said.
More than 3/4th pf BSP MPs are BJP men. THe BSP MPs always vote for the highest bidder and can be easily bought, since they themselves bought their candidateship from Mayawati after bidding. Actually there are total of 3 MPs. They were offerred a total of 9 crores to abstain. 1 crore was in advance. The rest was to be given after vote. 2 MPs from MP (Argal being one of them). The 3rd is from Rajasthan (Bhagoda) ?
Speaker has called for all party meeting in his chambers. It is not clear when house will resume. Its a free-faar-aaal.
Earlier Lalooji gave a really entertaining speech. He even had a couple of songs for commies. 4 saal pehle hamein tumse pyaar thaa. He also sang -> tum agar mujhko naa chaho to koi baat nahin, tum kisi aur ko chahogi to mushkil hogi.. The BJP, now, is caught between the Devil (Mayawati) and the Deep sea (UPA). It is increasingly becoming clear that now if the UPA Govt gets defeated the Third Front seem to be emerging much stronger to form a Govt-smaller parties both from the UPA and the NDA may leave them and join the Third Front! Only Shiv Sena may be left out alongwith the BJP!
After seeing this possibility, in order to keep NDA together and also please its Captitalists masters in the US, the BJP may actually give a breather to the UPA by opting to walkout tomorrow on the Confidence Motion!

These third fornt monkey politicians need to be sobered.Mayavathi, Gowda, muslim terrorist politicians have no clue what the deal is about, and they are trying to broker deals.

The Lok Sabha on Tuesday adjourned for third time over allegations of bribery. This time till 6 pm.
The House witnessed high drama when a Bharatiya Janata Party member shocked the House by walking into the well with a bag full of currency notes, which he claimed was given by a Samajwadi Party leader in return for his support in the trust vote.
Amidst a flutter, Deputy Speaker Charanjit Atwal adjourned the House briefly, leaving members surcharged.
Trouble broke out when Ashok Argal, a BJP member from Morena and some others took out wads after wads of currency notes to substantiate their claim that horsetrading had taken place and heavy cash was used to "purchase" MPs for the trial of strength.
Looking at the press gallery, the BJP members alleged that an SP leader promised three of them Rs 3 crores each, of which Rs 1 crore was paid in advance.
Meanwhile, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee met leaders of political parties on allegations of MPs being bribed for the trust vote.
Leader of the Oppposition Advani claimed that the three BJP MPs -- Ashok Argal, Faggan Singh Kulaste and Mahavir Bagora -- were offered Rs 3 crore each and were handed over Rs 1 crore each in advance.
Terming the incident as a breach of privilege, Advani said the MPs were given the money for abstaining from voting during the trust vote.
"In my own whole life I have not come across such a sad event. We had received information yesterday and today. This is shameful," he said.
Advani noted that he had hinted about horse-trading in his speech on Monday while some Left members openly spoke about such things in the House.
He said three BJP MPs came to him on Monday saying they were offered Rs 3 crore each for "only abstaining" during the voting. "Rs 1 crore was given in advance and the rest was to be given later," he claimed.
"They asked me whether they can produce the money in the House. I said it is normally not allowed. But the kind of scandal it is I thought the House will at least be adjourned," he said.
"But as the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha scandal, it is not a small thing and it is related to Parliament. It is a case of corruption. Whoever had given, whoever tells them to abstain, this is the breach of privilege," Advani said.
He said the incident should be taken "very seriously".
Advani also said he would not name anyone and "I would let them name themselves."

The Lok Sabha was brought to an abrupt halt on Tuesday afternoon when some Bharatiya Janata Party Members of Parliament waved bundles of currency, claiming the Samajwadi Party had tried to bribe them to vote in favour of the United Progressive Alliance government during the trust vote.
Rediff.com spoke to some legal experts to find out what Speaker Somnath Chatterjee can do in such a situation.
Senior counsel Harish Salve said that the role of the Speaker is limited in such cases. According to him, the MPs should have first lodged an FIR or informed the ppolice..
"Even if the MPs wanted to display the money in the Parliament, they should have approached the Speaker first. Moreover, these MPs have made an allegation against the party and not against an individual. Bribing a MP is a serious allegation and it should have been a serious complaint. But this seems like a farce," he said.
Salve said that the Speaker can't suspend the proceedings of the House and he cannot even order an inquiry in the matter before the trust vote..
Senior counsel Professor Ravi Varma Kumar, a constitutional expert, said that the trust vote cannot be postponed due to the allegations made by the BJP MPs.
"The MPs who claim that they had been bribed should approach the privileges committee. The Speaker cannot do anything in such a situation as the allegation is being made against a party. The MPs should reveal the name of the person who offered them the bribe and should be able to prove their case," Kumar said.
Speaking on the steps that the Speaker should take, Kumar said that Chatterjee should immediately confiscate the money and bring the House under order.
He can convene an all-party meeting to discuss the matter. He can even postpone the trust vote if all the parties agree with him. "The speaker on his own will not have suo motu power to put off a trust vote," Kumar said.
A political observer, who did not wish to be named, said, "Why do I get the feeling that the BJP is preparing for a walkout? By walking out, the government will sail through the trust vote and the BJP will not have to unintentionally support the third front and Mayawati."
<b>If UPA wins, Karat headed for trouble</b>

While the entire country awaits the result of the trust vote with bated breath, a split in the Communist Party of India-Marxist seems imminent should the United Progressive Alliance win the confidence motion.
If political analysts and party insiders are to be believed, the CPI-M would soon be divided into two easily identifiable groups: Pro-Prakash Karat and anti-Karat.
"Some veteran party members are only awaiting the trust vote result. Should the United Progressive Alliance government win, (CPI-M General Secretary) Prakash Karat and his team will be in for some rude shocks," say party insiders.
A series of events in the past few weeks have led to the rise of anti-Karat sentiment in the CPI-M, especially in West Bengal.
Karat's critics had two main issues: Voting against the UPA with the 'communal' Bharatiya Janata Party and putting pressure on Speaker Somnath Chatterjee to resign.
And in both these matters, Karat and his men's alleged 'highhandedness' has not been liked by some of his party men.
"The way he put Speaker Chatterjee's name in the list presented to the President while withdrawing support to the UPA government is not only unConstitutional but also uncalled for," says social activist and political analyst Sunanda Sanyal.
"None can deny that Chatterjee used to be a CPI-M MP once. But now, that he is the Speaker and the Constitution make him an independent entity, above any party line whatsoever," Sanyal adds. "No one believes that Karat was not aware of it when he wrote that letter to the President."
"Therefore, the Speaker's stand has not only made him a hero in Bengal CPI-M's anti-Karat lobby but also has ensured for him a place in an anti-Karat faction when it emerges," he says.
Sanyal's views are echoed by a section of CPI-M leaders in Kolkata who blame Karat for the "huge political mess" where the Left would have to vote along with the BJP to oust the government.
It goes without saying that the anti-Karat section of the CPI-M in Bengal shares close ties with party patriarch Jyoti Basu. The Basu faction has not forgiven Karat for leading the opposition to the Marxist veteran becoming prime minister in May 1996.
Should the UPA win the trust vote, Karat and his men will have to chalk out a strategy to face Basu loyalists led by Somnath Chatterjee and West Bengal minister Subhas Chakraborty.
