According to sources, 1<b>5 Pakistani soldiers entered into the LoC in Kaiyan Bull in Nowgam. They approached the Forward Observation Post of the Indian Army and told them to vacate the post. Then they shot at one on the Indian sepoys on the post who fell down into the ravine</b>.
<b>India has asked for a flag meeting and ceasefire so as to recover the body of the dead sepoy.</b>
However, the Pakistani army denied Indian claims and said Indian troops ''resorted to unprovoked firing'.
Pakistani troops immediately returned fire and the shooting from the Indian side stopped, the Pakistani army said in a statement.
<b>This is the first violation of ceasefire between India and Pakistan in Nowgam sector.
Violations had been reported earlier in Tangdhar, Poonch and Rajouri sectors of the state earlier this year.</b>
India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire along the International Border and LoC in 2003, which had held good till the beginning of this year. On July 10, the two sides accused each other of violating a 2003 cease-fire.

Official sources said Pakistan's troops used small-arm fire to push militants into the Indian side. There were no casulaties.
âThey appeared to have engaged us so that infiltrators could be pushed through. But I can't confirm the infiltration,â an official said.
Pakistani forces had fired on Indian posts in Nowgam sector in Kupwara on July 28 and July 30. In the first, their soldiers had intruded into the Indian side and targeted a bunker that killed a jawan. In retaliatory fire, at least four Pak soldiers were killed. Pakistan had denied this, though.
The two armies held a flag meeting on July 29 after the firing on July 28 but there was mortar firinf by Pakistani troops the very next day.
The Pakistani army has violated the ceasefire agreement, which came into effect from 2003, at least 20 times this year.

As India celebrated its Independence Day, <b>Pakistani troops fired mortars and rockets at Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF) positions at two places in forward areas of Jammu region on Friday , marking yet another ceasefire violation</b>.
The two incidents took place within an hour of each other along the<b> international border at R S Pura in Jammu sector and the Line of Control at Mandi in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, according to Army sources in New Delhi.</b>
With the two incidents being reported, the number of violations of the November 2003 ceasefire agreement with India by Pakistan Army since January this year has reached 24. At R S Pura, Pakistani troops fired rockets at BSF positions at Dhulia, Katmadia and Sangrul for about 45 minutes starting at around 2.10 am.
"The firing of rockets did take place this morning and it is a major incident. But since the rockets were targeted at BSF positions, the Army is yet to ascertain the details of the incident," Defence PRO at Jammu Lt Col SD Goswami told PTI.
The Pakistani troops fired some five rounds of rockets at each of the three BSF posts, Army sources said.
An hour earlier, Pakistan Army also lobbed 60-mm mortar shells at Indian Army positions at Mandi area of Poonch sector in the state.
"There were a couple of rounds of mortar fire by Pakistani troops at our positions in Mandi of Poonch sector," a top Army officer said in New Delhi.
They also resorted to indiscriminate small arms fire in the area and the firing continued for a few minutes.
In both the incidents of ceasefire violations, no damage was caused or casualties were reported on the Indian side, the sources added.

Indian troops on Saturday foiled an infiltration bid by a group of armed militants, who tried to enter a border district in Jammu and Kashmir under the cover of firing by the Pakistani forces, a BSF spokesman said.
Pakistani Rangers opened fire on Chak Fagwari Border Out Post (BOP) along the International Border in Pargwal sub-sector of Jammu frontier in the wee hours of Saturday, the spokesman said.
He said a big group of militants tried to enter into Indian territory in Zeroline area under the cover of Pakistani firing.
The militants also fired and targeted troops with grenades, he said, adding that BSF troops and patrol parties retaliated the firing from the other side.
The exchange of fire continued for nearly an hour, he said, adding that BSF troops also fired mortar bombs on militants.
BSF troops beat back the infiltration bid as the militants later escaped to the Pakistani side.
There was no loss of life or injury in the cross-border firing and searches are being conducted in the area.
The Pakistani troops also committed ceasefire violation, he said.
Earlier on August 25, three militants had infiltrated along Kanachak area after cutting fencing under cover of Pakistani firing.
They were later killed in a gunbattle at Chinore area of Jammu which also left five civilians and three jawans dead.
