<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

In one of the kathas narrated on Ganapati pooja day, there is one in which the gods had asked Shiva who should get the primacy of worship between his two sons? So Shiva says one who makes a pligrimage to all the sacred palces and returns the earliest. So Kumara takes off on his vahana and Ganapati is dejected and asks for a solution as he is heavy and ponderous on his vahana. Then Shiva tells him to circumnambulate around both the parents with Bhakti and he would have the punya of visting all those sacred places. Ganapati does that and Kumara sees him leaving all the places he was visiting. He returns crest fallen and ask forgiveness for putting himslef as a candidate against his elder brother. The gods then offer the primacy to Ganapati since then. They feed him a lot of tsuff and you know the rest of the story....

Such tales have evolved throughout the trajectory of religious development to retro-justify the practice of their respective concurrent times. These narratives are not the <b>cause</b> of the phenomenon, but in reality an <b>effect</b> of it. Phenomenon itself does not take place instantly instead grows over an elongated period of time. Important deva-s of old are first reduced in importance as the other deva-s grow in importance, then slowly forgotten, sometimes incorporated in new practices and pantheon with modifications or reduced function/status.

However kumAra is not one of those deva-s. He is still very much a popular deva of shaiva-shAsana, even in the present day, even though in some regions worship of gaNapati became more popular.

My question was specific to ekali~Ngeshwara mahAdeva shrine, where I could not locate even one vigraha of kumAra...while all other deva-s are present.

<b>Gorakhpur's Sun Temple facing neglect</b>
Tue, Nov 25 03:35 PM

http://in.news.yahoo.com/139/20081125/824/...ing-neglec.html

Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Nov.25 (ANI): A temple dedicated to the Sun
God and having a number of old idols here, is close to losing its
grandeur because of continued official apathy.

Located in Turkpatti Village, the Sun Temple is about 18 kilometres
from Kushinagar. It was built by the local villagers after a huge and
exquisitively carved idol of Surya (the Sun God) made of black
stone, was discovered while tilling a piece of land.

The temple has idols belonging to the 4th, 5th, 8th and 9th centuries
and is visited by villagers and tourists with deep respect and
revernce.

"I had heard a lot about this temple, as it is some years old. Such an
idol was not even found in the sun temple in Konark as I visited that
as well. I am more than happy to see this historical monument," said
Manish Mishra, a devotee.

Villagers today look after the temple. At times they collect funds for
repair work.

Villagers are, however, annoyed with the tourism and the
archaeological department of the state, as the authorities have hardly
made any efforts towards the development of the temple.

Local residents also complain that despite the temple being a draw
among tourists from different parts of the country, there is no
provision for them to stay here. Neither there is any sitting
arrangement nor for drinking water in the temple premises.

All these arrangement prove a major discouragement for tourists arriving here.

"It is sad that the entire authorities talk about tourism but do
nothing. If we try and develop this temple people from all over the
world would visit this temple. The entire money has been raised by
villagers; the government has not given any funds except the money
that the government gave to construct the four walls of the temple,"
said Sudama Vishvakarma, the temple priest.

The absence of any security measures at the temple is also a major
concern for all the local residents. As a result of which the Surya
idol of the temple that holds a great historical value had been lost
lost but later recoverd by the authorities.

The local authorities have perhaps learnt no lesson and done previous
little for the temple. Perhaps, they are waiting for anything
unexpected to take place. (ANI)

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->Hindus careless about historic temples - Naroshankar mandir in Nasik
Buzz up!  ShareThisJun 15 2009  | Views 18 |

Vasai (Bassein), a historic town in North Konkan, was ruled (along with the neighbouring territories) by the Portuguese during the early 18th century. Destruction of Hindu temples, forced conversions and tortures through promulgation of Inquisition and general curbing of Hindu culture was practiced by the Portuguese. Chimanaji Appa, brother of Peshwa Baji Rao I, captured Vasai in 1739 (after a campaign of 2 years) and ended the Portuguese terror in North Konkan. He brought the bell of Vasai’s Church and got it installed in the Naroshankar Mandir in Nasik. Even today, the bell can be seen above the entrance of the said temple. It is a symbol of Hindu resurgence and strength. It stands witness to the sort of religious persecution indulged by the Catholics and the way the Hindus responded to it.

Last, I went to Nasik and found the sad state of the temple. It is in a dilapidated condition. Very few devotees visit the temple. There seems to be some disinterest towards the temple as far its renovation is concerned.

Also, the famous ‘Hindu historical memory loss’ is found even here. Even the pundit of the temple did not know anything about the significance of the bell. This was despite the fact that there is a board above the bell claiming it to be the ‘famous bell’ of Naroshankar Mandir.

It seems we really do not care about our history, heritage, pride etc. Nasik is supposed to be the fort of Shiv Sena. Everywhere one can find Shiv Sena’s posters, boards etc. I did not find the name of any other party near the area where this temple lies. There is a board above Kapaleshwar Mandir which states ‘Be proud to say that we are Hindu’. But a temple which should occupy the ‘pride of place’ is in such a sad condition. They celebrate Shivaji’s Rajyabhishek but forget about those symbols of Maratha Empire which identifies its Hindu character. Will we ever come out of this ‘short term memory loss’ and learn to understand and appreciate our history? Unless we learn from history, we will repeat the same mistakes. But it seems Hindus don’t even care to know about their history let alone ‘learn’ from it. A very sad state indeed

<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->Christians come and harrass Hindus outside every known Temple.
In front of one they made their convert women toss the sacred Mangalasutras into a fire - which they got from before they were converted - just to show off to Hindus passing them to the temple how worthless sacred Hindu Dharma is to the terrorists and to make Hindus have hard thoughts rather than the peaceful ones they get after seeing Bhagavan.
IIRC it was Kapaleeshwarar Kovil that had christian terrorists forcing typically christoterrorist pamphlets against our Gods onto the victimised Hindu temple-goers. Other christians come and gather to pray around Hindu Temple goers, or to pray around our Temples that the walls of our Temple will collapse and let jeebus-the-non-existent-terrorist in. (There are even online prayers to this effect at western christian sites teaching missionaries what to do in Bharatam.) We don't need all that sad/bad christian negativity - I appreciate that their gawd is empty (non-existent) and its conception is evil. But that gives them no right to spew their emptiness and evil thoughts on others. They can choke on their own venom if that is what they want, we want to be left alone with thoughts of our Gods. We go to our Temples to see our Gods, not to see their sick christian depravity and their hatred on our way in.

I can't imagine an instance where I'd choose to list Hindu temples in public.

<!--QuoteBegin--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->But religious expansionism is just one part of the zealots' dark work. More disturbingly, despite repeated warnings from the law enforcers, the bigots have been gathering up at Periamalai (a small hillock) regularly and shout out taunting remarks at Hindus and openly deride Hindu Gods.
(Rather like what early christians did to the Ancient Romans.)

Locals say the Christians bring in women, who are purportedly Hindus, and then ask them to throw their mettis and thalis into a fire. This is how the conversions happen. 'This is a very offensive show,' says Ramakrishnan a local.
(Thalis are Mangalasutras.)

These gatherings become more voluble when the locals come to worship at the nearby Murugan temple.

'Their (Christians) activities have a sinister touch. They have been systematic in their approach. They choose to increase their numbers on Hindu religious days. They have gone to the extent of damaging some of the sculptures in the Murugan temple,' says Vedachalam, another resident of the area.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->The original excerpted above continues:

After the locals took up the issue with the police, a check-post on the entry road to the hillock was put up to prevent any meeting in the night. But some time later, the check-post was damaged by some miscreants and the night show of evangelism continued.

However, the locals applied pressure with the authorities and got another check-post in the area. Long-time residents of the locality also got a court order some time back restraining the Christians from 'encroaching' into the land belonging to the Murugan temple. The evangelical Christians have put up a wooden cross atop the hill overlooking the GST Road. The locals also see this as a brazen show of religious fanaticism.

All the Christian group has been saying is that what is wrong if 'we worship peacefully'.

Residents say that 'after some concerted action from us, they have stopped coming in the nights. But they have started showing up in the afternoons. Quite simply, they have a strong action plan which they have been carrying out under the convenient garb of minorities' rights,' says Ramakrishnan.

'It is minorities wrongs', he adds pungently.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin--><b>Blasphemous distortions</b>
By: B R HARAN letters@newstodaynet.com

ATamil weekly magazine has reported the following in its latest issue (dated 14 November): (<- that's obviously a typo meant to be 4 November).
Active Image

Book titled ‘Light in Darkness’

<b>‘On Friday 24 October, the devotees of the world famous ‘Sri Kapalishwarar Temple’ Mylapore, Chennai were literally shocked when they were given five booklets each containing defamatory write-ups about Hinduism, Vedas, Vedic heritage, Hindu Shastras, Hindu culture & tradition, Sabarimala Ayyappan and denigrating articles on Sage Thirumoolar, Nayanmars and others, by a bunch of mean-minded Christian evangelists just in front of the Temple entrance!</b> For example, in the book titled ‘Light in darkness’, it is written that, the word ‘Sadhaa’ in the verse ‘Sadhaa Shivaaya’ means ‘forever’ and there is only one God, who blesses and takes care of this world forever, and he is ‘Jesus’ and the verse ‘Sadhaa Shivaaya’ denotes only him! All the five books are said to have contained more defamatory stories about Hindu Gods and Religious Gurus. Many people have called up this magazine and sent mails to it giving complete details about what happened in front of the temple that day’.

<b>Incidentally, the Santhome Cathedral stands on the ruins of the original Kapalishvarar Temple, which was destroyed by the Portuguese invaders and now the evangelical invaders are trying to destroy the Hindu culture and religion in front of this reconstructed Kapalishvarar Temple.</b>

This outrageous incident has brought out the following facts:

<b>The evangelists have made bold to distribute blasphemous literatures and conduct a hate-campaign against Hinduism, that too in front of a very famous historic temple.</b>

The minority appeasement policies of a ‘minority’ government, which openly said that it is committed to the welfare of minorities, and its anti-majority stand have emboldened these evangelists to indulge in this kind of illegal activity.

The policemen who have been posted near the temple for security (Mylapore temple is under terror threat) have turned a blind eye to this venomous act, probably due to fear motivation from the ‘minority’ government or money motivation from the evangelists.

The Hindus have just exposed their ‘dhimmitude’ by remaining passive without acting against those evangelists. Sadly, not even one devotee has exhibited the courage to lodge a police complaint against them. The traders near the temple have not bothered to drive away those Christian rapscallions. Certainly the number of devotees must have easily outnumbered those evangelists and they must have caught them with their collars and taken them to the Mylapore police station. Instead of doing all this, some people have written to this particular weekly magazine.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
This is what christians do. It's christianism after all. The cannibal sheep can't help it (and use cannibal infiltrati contacts in the govt and police to protect them in their 'rights' to terrorise Hindus - the 'right' to convert-or-kill us). But we don't want to be terrorised by cannibal sheep.

There's a German site that collects, scans and digitises Samskrita manuscripts and mines it for "alchemy" data. They are such criminal thieves that they don't even want to admit they are searching for <i>chemistry</i>. They want to pretend to the outside world that such Hindu Samskrita literature contains "hocus pocus" (alchemy) rather than science, even as they hope to steal from (and plagiarise and patent) the contents.

For people so 100% sure that they are Oryans, the Indo-Europod west seems to be curiously bent on <i>stealing</i> from supposedly 'Oryan' Hindu literature and hoping not to get caught. Sounds like doubt on their part. Am not a psychologist, but: while they make no public admission, this thievery seems to rather indicate how they are owning to their private selves that their oryan fable and claims to oryanism are invention or at least on shaky ground.

Thank you shamu. There is something in the SriYantra that people in West are researching.

Somebody once showed me(two -three years ago) a sonogram (using ~32 lasers to draw a hologram) of the recital of OM and it drew up the SriYantram! Need to trust me on this and not demand proof though there were some esteemed members who also saw the presentation.

So stay with it.

Deva!! Deva!!!

The person didnt give us his primary source but in this very website there is an article about it.

Is the Sri Yantra derived from OM?

Temple in Thirucharapalli

What an awesome sight!

Quote:Hundreds of devotees offered worship to the gold car made at an outlay of Rs.3 crore for Sri Vekkali Amman temple in Woraiyur. A special shed has been constructed at the temple for the gold car.

Special ‘yagasalai’ had been set up for performing the naalu-kaala puja.

The preliminary pujas, including Anugnai Vinayagar pujai, Punyahavasanam and Ganapathy Homam, were performed on Tuesday morning and the first kaala puja was performed in the evening on Tuesday.

The temple authorities made special arrangements for installing a small idol of Sri Vekkali Amman for use in the gold car.

The panchaloka idol, measuring about 1.75 feet in height, will be used whenever the gold car is pulled by devotees in fulfilment of their vows, S. Krishnan, Executive Officer of the temple, said.

The car, 9.75 feet in height, has been made using 10.5 kg of gold and 25 kg of silver.

Apart from utilising 7 kg of gold belonging to the temple, the authorities purchased 3.5 kg of the metal from the Samayapuram Sri Mariamman temple for making the gold car according to S. Krishnan.

The scheme, which was sanctioned a couple of years ago, comprised converting the gold into ribbons.

The gold foils were fixed on the 303 racks and the work was nearing completion, he said.

The total value of the gold car was about Rs.3 crore, he said.

Special pujas for the new small idol -- Jalathivasam kann thirathal; and Sayanathi vasam, were performed on Wednesday during the course of the second kaala pujai.

Devotees offered paddy to the idol praying for prosperity and development.

The fourth kaala pujai will be performed on Thursday. The ‘gadams’ will be taken from the ‘yagasalai’ at about 7.45 a.m.

The ‘kumbabhishekam’ will be performed at 8.15 a.m. for the gold car and at 8.45 a.m. for the new idol of Sri Vekkali Amman.

The rituals will be performed during the holy transit of the Revathy Nakshatram (star) in the Meena lagnam.

The maiden run of the gold car will commence at 6 p.m.

Arrangements for parking of vehicles

Mr. Krishnan said that special arrangements have been made for parking four-wheelers and other VIP vehicles during the maiden run of the gold car. With Woraiyur accounting for a number of lanes and by-lanes criss-crossing each other, the smooth flow of cars will facilitate the devotees to have the darshan of the gold car.

To ensure this, all four-wheelers will be diverted and parked on the road beyond the Office of the Executive Officer.

The maiden run of the temple car will last for about an hour till 7 p.m.
