Attack in Mumbai

According to a couple of eyewitnesses, the actual toll of the blasts could be as high as 1000, though it is unconfirmed. It appears that 50 karmacharis and officials were killed in the station alone, and that their names have been put up.
<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Do you have any source for this? I too suspect death toll will reach at least 500. But Indian govt will try to shoosh that up.

Cant say the source (petty trader, newspaper delivery man) is very reliable. In his words, "khoon ki nadi bah rahi hai, hazaar se kam nahi ho sakta". Maybe some exaggeration is there, but the other factors do not make this value impossible.

Again, for the first ever time, our leaders appeared to display some real sense of shock instead of the usual parroting. This is the strong evidence for me.

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->The entire day has been spent in front of the TV and watching in anguish and in anger the proceedings on the streets of Mumbai. I have been riveted to Times Now and to the <b>incredible anchoring of Arnab</b>. He has been at it non stop for almost 24 hrs; reporting, discussing, interviewing, taking opinion, tirelessly.

My pain has been the sight and plight of my innocent and vulnerable and completely insecure countrymen, facing the wrath of this terror attack. And my anger has been at the ineptitude of the authorities that have been ordained to look after us. I have simply loved and endorsed the sentiments expressed by one of those that came on for comments on the Arnab reportage, Suhel Seth. They were strong, precise and most apt. And of course I have had the greatest pride in those from the forces that have and continue to fight for our freedom. Brilliant officers and police personnel have laid down their lives for us. I can only but salute them and respect their sincerity in the call of duty.

I have been at the receiving end of a million calls and an equal number of sms’s the whole day to come live on TV or on the print media to express my views on the current situation and am being lured by words such as  ’we need you to speak to express solidarity and for the people to maintain their calm’.

<b>This is disgusting !! I will NOT do that. TELL ME AND ORDER ME INSTEAD THAT WE REQUIRE FOR EVERY INDIAN TO GET UP AND WALK INTO THE FACILITIES WHERE THE ACTION IS ON AND I WILL BE THE FIRST TO WALK</b>. But, please do not ask me to come and make sloppy statements that will do nothing more than create viewer interest in said particular channel ! I respect what the media is doing in serving the nation with its continuous information bulletins and I admire the brave and diligent manner in which they have devoted themselves to the cause. But what they expect me do I find against my ethics and want to be excused from it.

<b>And for God’s sake, let us stop reiterating that cliched  ”Sprit of Mumbai” retort. Yes Mumbai is strong and resilient and shall not be cowed down by any such occurrence. But let us not conveniently use it as our cover sheet, pull it over our heads and go off to sleep. Because that is what has been happening every time. Incidents of grave disaster have continued to be camouflaged with ‘oh, this is Mumbai, we have a great spirit, we will spring back’. Fine, we will, of course. But who is assuring us that the disaster will not !!

As an Indian, I need to live in my own land, on my own soil with dignity and without fear. And I need an  assurance on that.

I am ashamed to say this and not afraid to share this now with the rest of the cyber world, that last night, as the events of the terror attack unfolded in front of me I did something for the first time and one that I had hoped never ever to be in a situation to do.

Before retiring for the night, I pulled out my licensed .32 revolver, loaded it and put it under my pillow. For a very disturbed sleep.</b>

<b>No hostages alive at Taj Hotel: NSG</b><!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->The siege at Taj Hotel may have ended, but unfortunately none of the hostages in the building have managed to survive.

An NSG source told rediff.com that by the time siege ended the NSG had managed to kill the terrorists holed up in the hotel, but could not save the hostages.

The senior NSG official said they were still not sure as to how many hostages were inside the hotel. It could be around 20 to 25, he added.

<b>The terrorists had used the hostages as a human shield and were killing them one by one.</b>

<b>The last of the hostages was killed on Saturday morning, </b>he said.

Meanwhile, the sanitation process is still on at the Taj. Search for bodies and possible survivors, if any, continues to take place. A message picked up from the wireless frequency indicated that some of the doors in the hotel were jammed.

<b>Mudy Ji :</b>

Many thanks your assessment which is astute, clinical and sagacious as well as full of insight.

As such we cannot just wait and see what happens. I am sure things will pan out the way you have assessed but it is time that we, as Indians, start thinking of taking the initial step towards attacking and solving the problem of the Islamic Terrorism perpetrated by the Followers f the World’s Only Religion of Peace.

I wish I had the capability to “Start the Movement” and as such suggest that you or one of our more sagacious Fellow Members of this Esteemed Forum start the ball rolling.

<b>FT Alleges Terrorists Were Hindus</b>
The Financial Times of UK insists that this terrorist atrocity might have been a "false flag" attack staged by local Hindus to frame Muslims. Read their article:

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/b77572d0-bcbc-11...00779fd18c.html

I was totally stunned and horrified by their blatant fabrication. Talk about tinfoil hats! This is just like those idiots who insist that the Israeli embassy warned all Jews to stay home on 9/11, or that CIA timer-chargers brought the Twin Towers down. But this is the Financial Times peddling this crap! What slimy journalism from those with an Atlanticist bent.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->No, this is calculated on the part of western media which gets issued its orders to print in a certain way on certain countries from higher ups (particularly US government, but often many assorted European govts too).
<b>ADDED:</b> For instance, see NYT's use of the legitimising term "militants" instead of the factually applicable "terrorists". Precisely how international christomedia lied and lied and then lied again about Yugoslavia.

If terrorism is a targeted act of violence against civilians designed to have a random and multiplying effect, then the attackers in Mumbai have learnt the formula well. These savage, co-ordinated assaults will probably do more damage to India and its commercial capital than a string of previous atrocities.

Just over two years ago, Mumbai paid a (for now) higher cost in lives after its suburban train system was bombed, but picked itself up and moved on. This time, the targeting of two landmark luxury hotels, the Taj and the Oberoi, has given the terrorists an international mutiplier – as does their apparent singling out of Americans, Britons and Jews.

It is far from clear who is behind the 10-pronged assault, the most devastating in a series of attacks over a miserable year for India. The ostensible emergence of the previously unknown Deccan Mujahideen clarifies absolutely nothing.

India’s normal reflex action is to point the finger at Pakistan, the arch-rival with whom it has fought three major wars and tussled over the future of predominantly Muslim Kashmir, where Pakistani-backed insurgents tie down almost half India’s army. Manmohan Singh, India’s prime minister, has called for calm and communal harmony. But he is already sourcing the attacks outside the country.

“We will take up strongly with our neighbours that the use of their territory for launching attacks on us will not be tolerated,” he said, warning of “a cost” unless they acted decisively. Yet the murk in this instance is unusually thick.

<b>Both Islamist and Hindu extremists have been bombing their way across India in an attempt to polarise opinion, especially ahead of general elections next year. Some of these appear to have been “false flag” attacks, including by Hindu supremacists masquerading as jihadis. One of the Mumbai attackers, presumed to be Islamists, was photographed wearing a sacred Hindu thread around his wrist.</b>
(Look how they now equate the islamists - who have long been bombing places in India - with their newly and specifically invented, utterly unproven idea that Hindus have been "doing so all along too".
This entire set up was planned. They should have done a narc test on Kenneth Haywood when they caught him.
In future, see more of TSP/SIMI/Kenneth Haywood's christoterrorist colleagues leaving behind "sacred threads" or other Hindu symbols in order to blame Hindus for "suiciding" themselves - same as what the christoterrorist media the world over keeps saying about how Godhra train victims spontaneously combusted/set themselves on fire.)

Some security sources are fingering Lashkar-e-Taiba, a vicious, Pakistan-based, Kashmiri jihadi group. Equally, this could be part of subcontinent-wide reprisals against Pakistan’s rapprochement with India and retreat from dabbling in jihad. Only recently the landmark Marriott hotel in Islamabad was attacked and destroyed by jihadis.

<b>However long it takes to uncover the roots of this assault on Indian pluralism and regional détente, what matters now is that the Indian government does not overreact.</b> The temptation to crack down indiscriminately must be resisted. Otherwise, the attackers really will have got the terror formula right.

Copyright The Financial Times Limited 2008<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->This entire thing looks very much like it was set up - they needed end October to 25 Nov to prepare the ground in India and abroad on "Hindu Terrier", so that they can specifically blame India. Shame that Sharad Pawar started talking prematurely about Hindu Terror - before other minions of west's christoterrorism in India could actually play at having arrived at the pre-decided conclusion 'fairly' through 'investigation'.
Very much western christoterrorism at work. And that is why the christomedia in India has been carefully reporting only falsehoods: because they are not in it on their own, but are part of a bigger global anti-Indian, anti-Hindu network.

I am not waiting, I educate people where I live, I think I am doing pretty good job here. We should help God.

Till die-nasty is in power, nothing will change. Elite class should be thrown out of power in India. We have to fix our house first.

The "slapjanus" or weak Mad Napumsak Singh and the silence of the foreign Black Widow and her nest is remarkable. And where is that teethless Thug-eray?

Security is at stage, but these amateurs of Mumbai did allow so much press and camera's near the locations of terrorist attacks that the whole world could fully see how terrorism is dealt with. Amidst the chaos probably terrorist helpers may have escaped in the turmoil. Nice advertisement for future terrorists: send comando-trained terror units to local helpers or unis in advance, create havoc and probably get killed and let the helpers escape, needed for future attacks.
Amongst the anti-India Muslims these terrorists are heroes. Seeing this kind of action being pretty successful, it will stimulate more terrorist actions.

There are many damages:
1. people are being killed
2. security system's total failure
3. fear enters the minds because of this
4. reputation internationally (tourism, financial, security)
5. mouselman terrorists feel India is cheese with many wholes.
etc.

There should be a code of conduct for media, especially with these situations. Police and the army should get the mandate to disallow non-security personnel to come near the locations.

But, then India needs a government that allows good coordinated, disciplined anti-terror policy and action from top to bottom.
It needs to punish terrorists without mercy (hanging Afzal and others without delay). Even when needed, it must send units to hunt them down and eliminiate across borders. Whoever opposes the punishment of terrorists must be branded as such and get due punishment (high treason).
It needs to fire immediately Napumsaka politicians when matters of national security are at stake.
It means for now that people who have failed now, should not be allowed to enter politics again.
etc.

At CST, police with guns were hiding they refused to shot. I think they thought this was gang related, may be confused whether boss who give them Hafta is having good time.

ATS guys were so unprofessional, unbelievable, did they check alcohol level in their blood stream.

In place of using police for household work or guarding Minister Khandan, they should put them in regular training.

Government had no will. No law. Only thing we hear we are united and we will fight.
