<span style='color:red'>BJP is not a temple building company: Naqvi</span>
<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin--> New Delhi, March 21 (IANS) Going totally against what Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh had promised last month, senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that his party is not a temple construction company.
âBJP is not a construction company to build a temple, mosque, church and gurudwara. We support the cause that there should be a Ram temple in Ayodhya, but it has to be done with consensus of the religious groups and organisations through negotiations and talks. Or according to the courtâs verdict,â said Naqvi, who is vice president of the BJP, in an interview to Gulf News Friday.
<b>(=> If BJP holds that Hindu-Moslem negotiation and court verdict are the only two ways out, and not a legislation in parliament, then BJP's stand is exactly the same as Congress stand.)</b>
Naqvi, who is the most prominent Muslim leader in the saffron party, is contesting Lok Sabha elections from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh.
During the BJPâs national council meeting at Nagpur last month, Rajnath Singh had said: âBuilding a temple to Lord Ram was the partyâs nishtha and aastha (vow and aspiration). We will build the Ram temple.â
He had said that the BJP was waiting for an opportunity and would make a law when they come to power at the centre with a majority.

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->BJP spokesperson <b>Prakash Javadekar</b> agreed with Naqvi's views saying the BJP and the Rashtriya Swamsewak Sangh (RSS) have no political interest in building the Ram temple in Ayodhya. <b>"Never in the history have we said that BJP will construct the Ram mandir. It is the Ram Janma Bhoomi Trust which has taken upon itself the responsibility of constructing the Ram mandir. RSS never expected the BJP to construct the mandir and take the contract of constructing it. Temple is a religious thing. The government doesnât do that, the government solves the problem and it will ensure that there are no hurdles. So what we had started was a dialogue between two communities that will be carried forward and will come to conclusion and mutual understanding is the best solution or it is the court direction which will come," said Javadekar.</b>
<b>(=> Mr Javed-Kar, you are ignorant. Even before BJP, and much more than BJP, it is to the credit of Chandra Shekhar and then PVN to have started a daily hearing on the issue, and an organized debated between the two parties. Not sure you ever heard the name of Koenraad Elst but pls ask for a copy of Ayodhya and After. In comparision to Chandra Shekhar and PV Narasimha Rao, NDA regime did not see any progress on these two things during 6 years of their rule.)</b>

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->Amid the controversy, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad clarified the matter while defending Naqvi.
<b>"What he (Naqvi) has stated is essentially correct because we have never in the past said that BJP will personally construct the temple. The responsibility of constructing the temple is with the Ramjanambhoomi Trust which has undertaken it upon itself," Prasad said.
"BJP will only facilitate construction of the temple," he said.</b>
(Facilitate, as in...? What about the legislation in parliament?)

Radha Rajan
Good evening all of you. I am happy to see such a large turnout today. there is coffee, icecream and garmagarm samosas for you all at the end. So i hope you will all stay until the end.
Naqvi sahib, your leaders have not condemned your statement that the BJP is not a construction company to build temples, churches, mosques and gurdwaras. Does this mean that Advaniji, Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley also support your view?
Jaitley? Is he around? I thought he had crawled into a hole and pulled the hole behind him. This is off-the-record of course. Hahahahaha. But seriously, yes, our tallest leader Advaniji and one foot shorter Rajnath Singhji are fully behind me on this issue.
Mr. Naqvi, are you saying that the BJP has abandoned Ayodhya altogether?
Yes, you all probably know that the then spokesperson Sushree Sushma Swaraj ji has already called Ramjanmabhumi an encashed cheque. Kashi and Mathura of course were dud cheques which bounced even earlier.
Mr. Naqvi, please can you repeat it again for our viewers? Has the BJO finally distanced itself from the Ramjanmabhumi imbroglio?
Imbroglio? Woh kya hota hai? (This as an aside to his aide hovering anxiously behind Mukhatar Abbas Naqvi). Yes. Please look at it this way and look at the positive side. I was instructed by the party high command...
You mean Sonia Gandhi?
Yeh kya bakwas hai? No, our party high command instructed me to say we are not a construction company which builds temples, mosques, churches and gurdwaras.
What is the positive side here Naqvi sahib?
If the BJP will not build the temple in Ayodhya, the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board also cannot ask us to re-build the Babri Masjid.
And what about cow slaughter?
Arre baba, if we are not a construction company, we also have no stake in the meat industry one way or the other. The BJP thinks cow slaughter must be taken up only by the Vegetarian Congress. Of course we will support it from the outside.
And article 370? Will you give up demand for article 370 also?
Of course. Our tallest leader has already made the official BJP position clear that the geography of Pakistan is already a fact of history. So how can there be any inconsistency here? The BJP beleives that only Article 370 can enable J&K also to become a fact of history like Pakistan.
Mr. Naqvi, Mr. Naqvi you havent said anything about uniform civil code.
If the BJP is not in the construction business or in the meat indistry, how can it be a marriage bureau or a marriage counselling centre? Thank you all, pl enjoy your samosas. Namaskar.
Mr. Naqvi, one last question Sir. How do you think the change of guard in the RSS is going to affect the BJP.
It has de-moralised some of us, especially the BJP's minority morcha. The RSS has been claiming that it has several Muslims in its ranks. It is time for the RSS also to change significantly. We hope the next sarsanghachalak will be a Muslim. Now that will be the end please. Enjoy your icecream with your coffee.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
