The official islamists from TSP who attacked Bharatam and mutilated and massacred Indian soldiers get recommended for an award (soon the secular 'Indian' christoGovt will host such ceremonies locally and thereafter start handing out the awards itself) while the native soldiers - no matter how faithful to the christian empire, sorry secularism, they were - will be badmouthed, forgotten and their families left to rot. Secularism/christianism is a treacherous ingrate.
Dharmic soldiers of the Indian army should serve Dharma alone. It alone can protect them from the treachery. In any case, it is a true and worthy cause - unlike the mirage that is secularism (a cover for christianism). Also, Dharma is actually what <i>Dharmics</i> in the Indian army ought to fight for: when earlier Nationalists defended the nation, they did so because the country has always been the embodiment of our Dharma. These days, the meaning of - and even the word - 'India' has been secularised to mean anything in India. So that "defending India" becomes "defending secularism". But it is not mere land the Hindu Nationalists of the recent past were defending, and it was certainly no alien ideology ('secularism') which they died for.
And all Hindus fighting alien invaders further back in the past fought and gave their lives for Hindu Dharma, which is housed in/in the form of Bharatam.
But then, that's the difference between being a Hindu Kshatriya and a mere secular clockwork soldier in Her Catholic Majesty's Secular Indian Army. The former's cause and motivations (Dharma) - being Sattvic - are the Right ones, and the latter's cause and motivations (secularism) are Tamasic and hence meaningless.

The launching of the nuclear submarine is indeed a landmark development. However, it has now to be ensured that it becomes operational on schedule and the other submarines of its class also do not get delayed. The delay and cost escalation of the aircraft carrier from Russia and the other adverse reports appearing in the press on the basis of CAG report are indeed disturbing.
It would perhaps be appropriate for the Ministry of Defense to issue certain clarifications on these press reports. Often there are circumstances beyond the control of MOD or the Government of India that results in these types of cost escalations and delays. It is a known fact world wide that defense deals almost always involves commissions, cuts and political compulsions in varying proportions. It is always not possible to get the best deal or the best available equipment. A powerful defense procurement machinery needs to be put into place, so that the delays are kept to a minimum and at the same time , there is less time available to the rival suppliers to plant stories in the press to generate a controversy and stall the procurement .

Passage of time will no doubt tell us who or who all were responsible for the disastrous joint statement this time. However, one is tempted to state that if ‘war is too important a matter to be left to the military’, as Georges Clemenceau had said, any discussion with Pakistan is also ‘too important to be left to our diplomats and pseudo security experts’, while the military is kept out of the loop. Indira Gandhi made the same mistake and before her that capable PM, Lal Bahadur Shastri at Tashkent and lost out to the wily Pakistanis’. Successive governments, irrespective of their political affiliations, have followed this, much to the disadvantage of the nation.

There are three obvious blunders in the joint statement......

BTW : If you do not know what India can or will do with an Aircraft Carrier then I suggest you "procure" a Book on Naval Warfare!

You have right about naval warfare. But all nuclear powers have land based long range nukes despite the fact they have also alot of nuclear subs. They are complementary in roles.

1-The problem is not in the war but in the fact that tropical people are geneticaly more religious then nordic people(chinese, european).African and middle eastern people make may childrens which are educated to be as fanatical as their parents. You cant make them to be non-religious because of their genes,
you cant make them to belive a peaceful religion because of the dictatorial religion in which they already are.
The tropicals will make more and more fanatical childrens which slowly override the non-religious nordics(which will be assimilated) while tropical people members of peacefull religions will be converted to dictatorial religion (thats because dictatorials have more power ).
Tropicals wil not have a reaction against religious dictatorship as europeans has in the 16 century.
So there is no hope.

2-Lets supose that a dictatorial form of hinduism will arise ,a form that will remove all the sects of hinduism. What will be the difference betwin this neo-hinduism and abrahamics? However even this dictatorial type of hinduism is preferable to abrahamism because his traditions dont impose force-converting others so it will contain the seeds for a future religious freedom.
This seeds you cant find it in the books of abrahamics.

3-Simplification of hinduism ,taoism and other oriental religions.Hinduism is reduced to non-iconism and smartism, taoism is reduced to non-idol and health regime. If you cant destroy them make the the simple and simple.More easy to manage ,more easy for dictatorial politicians to control them and the people.

PS-The 3 points above are speculations.

<b>First stage of sea trial of Nerpa N-sub for India completed</b>

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->First stage of sea trial of Nerpa N-sub for India completed

Moscow: <b>Russia has completed the first stage of pre-delivery trials of the Akula-II class 'Nerpa' nuclear-powered attack submarine, which is likely to be operational with the Indian Navy much before New Delhi's indigenous 'INS Arihant'.</b>

The 'Nerpa' submarine will join the Navy by the year-end with the first set of sea trials being completed successfully according to schedule, an official of the Amur Shipyard was quoted as saying by the 'RIA Novosti' Monday.

But top officials in both Moscow and New Delhi are tight-lipped about the armaments the submarine will carry.

<b>While 'INS Arihant' is being armed with 700-km range K-15 nuclear-tipped missiles, it is not known if Nerpa will have Indian or Russian nuclear missiles.</b>

<b>'Nerpa', the Akula-II class submarine, has a displacement of 12,000 tonnes and is far bigger than 'INS Arihant', which has just 6,000 tonnage capacity.</b>

India joined an elite club of nations, including the US, Russia, China, France and the UK to produce nuclear under-sea vessels with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur inaugurating the sub for extensive sea trials on Sunday.

The new trials for Nerpa are taking place as it was hit by a major mishap on November 8 in the Sea of Japan when accidental triggering of the fire suppression system led to release of highly toxic gas, killing 20 crew members and civilian technical staff. It resumed sea trials on July 10 following extensive repairs.

Nerpa is the latest nuclear submarine in the Russian Navy's armada. Though 'INS Arihant' has some features like the Russian sub, but according to NATO sources the Akula-class vessel is one of the most potent undersea weapons in the world, far superior than the Chinese subs.

After the sea trials, Indian Navy men would be trained on Nerpa, which can come in handy for personnel posted on board the 'Arihant'.

"The (Nerpa) sub is back at the in Bolshoi Kamen (port) in the Maritime Territory, and it is getting ready for the second stage of the scheduled trials," the shipyard official said.

Some special equipment for performance checking and adjustment work will be installed on board the submarine, before it begins the second and final stage of pre-delivery trials.

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin--><b>Army’s valiant bid to trace Brahma kamal, snow leopard</b>
pioneer.com
Durgesh Nandan Jha | New Delhi
For a month beginning next Thursday, a group of soldiers will make a rare attempt in the higher Himalayas to trace the legendary Brahma kamal and the supposedly extinct snow leopard.

<b>The Indian Army has set itself a new goal: To research flora and fauna on the high altitudes of Northern Himalayan region, which is practically out of human reach. A band of 15 soldiers from IV Garhwal Rifles, stationed in New Delhi, will undertake the trip to Gangotri glacier, Nandanvan, Vasuki Tal and the Satopanth peak, among other places, to identify and collect proof of rare species of animals and plants still available in the region</b>. According to Commanding Officer Ajay Kothiyal, the research material would be forwarded to the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) and its scientists.

“Due to the area’s inaccessibility and extreme weather conditions, there has been little research on the flora and fauna in the Himalayan region. Flowers like the Brahma kamal, blue poppy, snow lotus and some local medicinal plants find mention in books only (written years ago) and so do rare species like the Ibex (snow goat) and snow leopard. We want to make available some recent data on their availability,” said Kothiyal. He said a group of 15 officers and jawans, all of them Garhwalis born and brought up in the region, will start for Gaumukh - at an altitude of 14,000 ft — on Thursday and then climb from Gangotri glacier to Nandanvan to Vasuki Tal to Satopanth and Chaukhambha peaks. “During this expedition, they will photograph and videograph all the rare flora and fauna they come across,” he added.

<b>The rare species found in this region include the snow leopard (Uncia uncia), brown bear (Ursus arctos), musk deer (Moschus chrysogaster), blue sheep or bharal (Pseudois nayaur), Himalayan tahr (Hemitragus jemlahicus), Himalayan monal (Lophophorus impejanus), Koklass (Pucrasia macrolopha) and Himalayan snowcock (Tetraogallus himalayensis).</b>

“At the intermediate level, I was a student of biology. I even took admission in B Sc programme but left it midway after I got a call from the Army. The mountaineering expedition will give me a chance to learn first-hand about the flora and fauna. I am sure we will do some pioneering work and pave the way for further research,” Praveen Joshi, one of the expedition members excited with the idea, said.

The Indian Army doesn’t have any particular wing for environment-related research. This effort by the Garhwal Rifles, if successful, may give the nation a pioneering idea on researching areas that have got out of reach for the common man and specialists alike.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<b>Politics hurting military modernisation’</b><!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->Two days after he sparked a controversy with his remarks about women flying fighter aircraft, Air Force’s Vice Chief Air Marshal Pranab Kumar Barbora (59) on Thursday again raised eyebrows  by saying political squabbling was hurting the military’s modernisation.

<b>At a CII seminar, Barbora blamed successive Opposition parties for blocking critical military acquisitions for narrow political goals.</b>

<b>He said defence proposals cleared by one government were contested by the Opposition, while the same parties would change their position after coming to power.</b>

“This impinges very badly on our defence requirements,” said the second-in-command of the world’s fourth largest air force, which has been hamstrung with shortage of fighter jets. It is managing with 33 fighter squadrons against a sanctioned 39 and a half.

Top officers rarely make public comments on the political establishment, but this 38 year Air Force veteran from Assam, who has flown every single fighter aircraft the Indian Air Force possesses has always been a little different. “Please pardon me for saying things which must be said,” Barbora said.

He blasted the culture of referring everything (defence deals) to the Central Vigilance Commission. “Rumours of kickbacks affect purchase process as everyone looks at each other with suspicion.”

He said India was satisfied assembling tools and kits, while China had streaked ahead in the defence sector. “Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is pleased to produce doors and undercarriage for Airbus whereas China is producing the whole damn thing.”

<b>He said India should be bold enough to allow more foreign direct investment in the defence sector. At present, foreign firms are allowed to invest only 26 per cent in Indian companies</b>.

<b>Barbora asked private firms to emulate reverse engineering of technologies from China. “Forget about ethics. Has anyone ever had the courage to ask China why are you doing it? If you can’t do it yourself, you should know how to reverse engineer.”</b>

On Tuesday, Barbora had said that considering the large investment the government made on fighter pilots, women wishing to pursue the vocation should devote themselves entirely to it for a certain number of years and avoid having children during that period to prevent any disruptions

Quote:New Delhi, Jan. 1: The government has authorised an outright purchase of 145 ultra-light howitzers from the US, a highly-placed defence ministry source said today.

The ultra-light howitzers are for the mountain artillery divisions of the Indian Army to be used in high-altitude frontiers opposite Pakistan and China. They can be transported slung from some helicopters.

The defence acquisitions committee has decided to take the foreign military sales route. Foreign military sales is a US programme of government-to-government sales of military hardware bypassing a lengthy system of competitive bidding. But bidders who lose out to foreign military sales orders allege that the system lacks transparency.

“We will also look at other options,” defence secretary Pradeep Kumar said.

The Indian Air Force has taken the foreign military sales route to contract six Lockheed Martin-made Hercules C130J air lifters and the army did the same to buy artillery fire-finding radars.

Two brands of ultra-light howitzers were initially in contention for the Indian Army’s estimated $2.5-billion artillery modernisation programme — ST Kinetics’ Pegasus and BAE Land Systems’ M777 made in the US.

Major D. Sreeram Kumar, who killed 12 terrorists in counter-insurgency operations in the northeast, will also be honoured with Ashok Chakra.

Apart from the two Ashok Chakras, President Pratibha Patil has approved 146 gallantry medals, including four Kirti Chakras, 26 Shaurya Chakras, two Bar to Sena Medals, 100 Sena Medals, four Nao Sena Medals, five Vayu Sena Medals and three Tatrakshak Medals, a Defence Ministry release said here on Friday.

Major Mohit Sharma was born in Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh and was commissioned into 90 Medium Regiment (Artillery) in March 2004. His family is now settled in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

Major Sreeram Kumar is serving with 30 Assam Rifles, to which he was deputed in March 2007 in Arunachal Pradesh during ‘Operation Orchid’.

He receives the medal for creating an effective and vibrant intelligence network, delivering hard blows to activities of terrorists and making it difficult for them to operate in his area of responsibility during ‘Operation Hifazat’ in Manipur.

Among the four Kirti Chakra awardees is Major Amit Oscar Fernandes of 7 Maratha Light Infantry, at present posted in Kashmir for counter-insurgency operations. He has served with 27 Rashtriya Rifles there.

In an operation in Baramulla district in November last, Major Fernandes overpowered one of the terrorists, snatched his weapon which was directing fire at the Army, and shot him dead.

Joining him in the Kirti Chakra awardees’ list is Major Deepak Tewari of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers Corps serving with 14 Rashtriya Rifles in Kashmir.

Major Tewari came under fire from five Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists during a night operation in Jammu and Kashmir in November last. Braving the bullets, the Army officer eliminated three terrorists in a close-range battle and critically injured the fourth. The operation led to the killing of all five terrorists.

Paratrooper Shabir Ahmed Malik is being awarded Kirti Chakra posthumously, for rescuing an injured team member during an operation in Jammu and Kashmir.

The fourth Kirti Chakra awardee is Naik Rishikesh Gurjar of 10 Rashtriya Rifles (Rajput), who is now the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) in charge of a ghatak platoon in the unit. He made two LeT terrorists surrender before him in ‘Operation Rakshak’ in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Government of India has requested a possible sale of 145 M777 155mm Light-Weight Towed Howitzers with Laser Inertial Artillery Pointing Systems (LINAPS), warranty, spare and repair parts, support and test equipment, publications and technical documentation, maintenance, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. Government and contractor representatives’ technical assistance, engineering and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistics support.

The estimated cost is $647 million.

This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to strengthen the U.S.-India strategic relationship and to improve the security of an important partner which continues to be an important force for political stability, peace, and economic progress in South Asia.

India intends to use the howitzers to modernize its armed forces and enhance its ability to operate in hazardous conditions. Quote:15 Feb 2010

NEW DELHI: India is set to spend a whopping US$ 200 billion on defence acquisitions over the next 12 years to replace its outdated Soviet-vintage inventory.

According to a study by the India Strategic defence magazine, nearly half of this funding, or $100 billion, will go to the Indian Air Force (IAF) which would need to replace more than half of its combat jet fleet as well as the entire transport aircraft and helicopter fleet.

The army needs new guns, tanks, rocket launchers, multi-terrain vehicles while the navy needs ships, aircraft carriers, an entire new range of submarines including nuclear-propelled and nuclear-armed.

The army has the largest requirement of helicopters while the navy needs both combat jets, helicopters, and a fleet of nearly 100 carrier-borne combat jets.

The details of the study will be published in March but according to a brief report in India Strategic's DefExpo show daily being published Monday, it is not that India has military ambitions but just that more than 70 percent of the inventory of the Indian Armed Forces is 20-plus years old, and needs to be replaced as well as augmented with the sophistication of modern technology.

There have been few defence deals after the allegations over the acquisition of Bofors in the 1980s, and Russia, which inherited the Soviet military infrastructure, is unable to meet all the requirements.

According to official Russian reports, only 10 percent of the Russian weapons could be described as modern.

All the three services as well as the Coast Guard and paramilitary organisations also need satellites and net centricity.

Plans to acquire surveillance aircraft, lesser in capability though the IAF's Phalcon AWACs and the navy's P8-I Multi-mission Maritime Aircraft (MMA) are also being worked out.

Pilotless intelligence aircraft (drones) generally called UAVs, including those armed, are also on the top of the list of the three arms of the forces.

The report says that the Pakistani 26/11 terror attack on Mumbai, in which scores were brutally killed and wounded, has given a wake up call to India and that the authorities had realized that 24-hour, 360-degree eyes and ears and preparedness to meet any attack were a necessity.

That also meant increased diplomatic and security cooperation with other countries.

It may be noted that the only major aircraft to be acquired by the IAF is the Su-30 MKI, some 280 of which have already been ordered in successive follow-on deals that do not involve fresh tendering and are easy to go through procedurally.

IAF has a plan to build 45 combat squadrons (about 900 aircraft), up from its maximum effective strength of 39.5 squadrons a few years ago. Many of its aircraft have been phased out due to simple ageing.

India is not a 'war-mongering' country: Antony[/url]

Quote:Feb 15, 2010 at 1606 hrs IST

New Delhi Defence Minister A K Antony on Monday said the Army was raising two new mountain divisions in the North-East, along the borders with China, but dismissed suggestions that the move was against the neighbour. "We are raising two mountain divisions in the North-East. I must tell you it is not against China. But these are being raised under the overall policies to strengthen presence of the armed forces in the North-East," Antony told a press conference on the occasion of the Sixth DefExpo in New Delhi.

The Defence Minister asserted that India is not a "war-mongering" country and has "not invaded even an inch of soil of any other country ever" but added that "we will defend every inch of our territory."

"We have to be on guard. So we have to strengthen our armed forces to act as a deterrent. That is our policy. That is why we are modernising all their equipment," Antony said.

He said India had embarked on a modernisation programme for its armed forces that included securing the 7,500-km long coastline where the Navy and the Coast Guard were being strengthened.

For air defence, the IAF was being equipped with modern systems and for security of the land mass from Kutch in the West to North East, Jammu and Kashmir in the north to the southern most party of the country, the Army was being strengthened, he said.

CAE, the specialist training and simulation provider has teamed up with the Tata group to develop a tank simulator for the T90 and T72 tanks. This is in respose to an RFP from the Indian MoD for simulators for Russian origin tanks.

According to CAE executives at the Defexpo 2010 show in Delhi, the simulator has been delivered for trials to the Indian Army. India does not have simulators for tank training and most training now is done on live tanks.

This leads to waste of resources.

Tanks simulators has been a long standing demand of the Indian army.

CAE is also developing a simulator for the C130J transport aircraft which the Indian Air Force is scheduled to receive early next year.

The aircraft is configured for special forces operation and the simulator will reflect that to impart training to pilots for this purpose. The simulator will be similar to the one CAE is building for another C130J aircraft for the U.S. Air Forces Special operations command.

The simulator will likely be located at the Hindon Air Base near Delhi which will be the base for the C130J transport planes. In a related development, the Mahindra group has got a contract to run the simulator training facility.

CAE is also developing a fixed base training device for the MiG 21 fighter aircraft which is the mainstay of the Indian Air Force.
