<!--QuoteBegin--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin--># In 2004, he declared total assets of Rs 22 lakh. In five years, the assets of the first-time MP have shot up 10 times to 2.25 crore.

# In 2004, he held bank deposits of Rs 11 lakh, £30,000 and $19,200; shares of Rs 3.9 lakh; LIC and other savings certificates in Rs 3.80 lakh; jewellery worth Rs 1.25 lakh; and a farm house worth Rs 9.8 lakh.

# In 2009, he holds bank deposits of about Rs 20 lakh, LIC and other savings certificates of Rs 10.2 lakh; land worth Rs 40 lakh, jewellery worth Rs 1.5 lakh; and two shops in a mall worth Rs 1.63 crore.
The richest candidate so far, going by assets declared, is Lagadapati Rajagopal, the owner of power generation and infrastructure company Lanco, and the Congress
candidate from Vijayawada. He has shown assets worth
Rs 299 crore. In 2004, he had declared assets worth just

Rs 9.6 crore. In other words, during the five-year UPA rule, his assets went up 30 times or by almost 3000%.
And Rajagopal isn't the only politician whose wealth has grown. It's a general trend. There are many more who have bigger assets than the Rs 67 crore declared by D K Adikesavulu, the richest MP in the last election.

Folks, I want to post this for any one who talks about Loksatta and greateness of Mr. Jaya prakash Narayan. I got sick of well to read and decent people who thinks great about this fellow. He is using the innocence to his actual hidden agenda. Next time if some one refers his we can refer to this post. I did research whole day to convince few folks on BR.
<b>Regarding JP and Loksatta, </b>it seems like a lot of folks have some concern due to my allegations. Well I am biased against him and hence no point in going over the same again and again. My view is mine and rest can have their views. I have provided the basis for my views in the previous pages of this thread.

However here is my research and please take what ever is worth taking.

This is the link from his web site

Particular interest is
<b>Foundation for Democratic reforms in India-FDRI (US-based support group and resource centre)</b>

This is an NGO based in US and no wrong in it. Most of the members are desi folks with India interests like many of us here. Nothing wrong so far.

The following is a link that has a lot of other unrelated information ( ignore). IE can crash because of the size of the text file. However, you can save it and read it.

I am copying here some interesting info/links to FDRI and what it does in association with Berkley University CA. <!--emo&Smile--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

<b>The FDRI/Berkeley Conference on Indian Democracy held at the University of California, Berkeley, on September 26 and 27, 2008, had a 2-hour session on the human rights situation in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh.</b> The panel consisted of Justice Srikrishna (former Justice of the Indian Supreme Court), Vishwa Ranjan (DGP of Chhattisgarh), Nandini Sundar (Professor of Sociology, University of Delhi), Sunil Kumar (Editor, Daily Chhattisgarh) and Dipti Bhatnagar (Students for Justice in Chhattisgarh).

Chhattisgarh is the site of an ongoing conflict between Naxalites (Maoist insurgents) and state security forces, including the state-backed "Salwa Judum" vigilante army. Counterinsurgency programs have displaced over 300,000 tribals from their villages. The state security forces, including the Salwa Judum, have been implicated in many instances of extrajudicial killings, rapes, extortion, torture and theft from adivasis, the main inhabitants of the mineral rich southern part of the state. <b>Human rights activists who have criticized state actions, journalists reporting on state atrocities, and tribals resisting forced dislocation have been aribitrarily detained, harassed and/or imprisoned under the draconian Chhattisgarh Special Public Security Act of 2005, and accused of working for the Naxalites.</b> <i>{Mytake: How to help Naxals is the remote agenda}</i>

The Demands

Apart from the unconditional release of Dr. Binayak Sen and other political prisoners, community members also demanded that the Salwa Judum be disarmed, the Black Law (Chhattisgarh Special Public Security Act of 2005) be repealed, and the use of child soldiers in counter-insurgency measures be prohibited.

A lot of folks have a good understanding about many of the orgs above. I rest my case regarding the links of JP to what kind of NGOs are these.

Now I want to take a little bit further regarding JPs statement after recent blasts in Hyderabad (inside the Lumbinpark and Gokul chat). <i>{please do not ask me for links and proof again <!--emo&Smile--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> as I don't want to dig them}. </i>He said on TV that he neither want to condemn who did these not want to condemn government. A great statement.

Next if there are any great admirers of JP please enlighten this forum about what he thinks of Nation, nation state, national security and importance of armed forces etc. I don't see any such references in his free flowing lectures.<i><b>{My Take: he belongs to candle kissers}</b></i>

In Kerala, where imperialism is a word that sells like hot cakes, the biggest international issue figuring in the campaigns for the 15th Lok Sabha election is not meltdown or the US attack on Iraq. It is: Who all are the ‘agents’ of Israel in Kerala?

In the eye of this storm are two Congress candidates — former UN Under-Secretary General Shashi Tharoor and former State Minister KV Thomas. Almost all Muslim organisations have declared that they will work against these two candidates.

But the issue of India’s growing interest in relationship with Israel does not end there. The CPM has wielded this as a sharp weapon against the UDF candidates. The CPM is doing it just for concealing its own frailties: The SNC Lavalin corruption case, in which party State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan is an accused, and the issue of poll pact with Abdul Nasser Madani.

But the UDF is worried. The first victim of such a campaign is the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a constituent of the Opposition UDF. They are contesting two seats, on which one of the candidates is none other than Union Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahmed.

The IUML has been on the defensive on international issues. Ahmed refused to resign as the Minister when the 123 Agreement issue came up. He voted for the UPA Government in the trust vote in July last.

<b>Brave Sikh Journalist flings shoe at Chidambaram</b><!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->April 7, 2009
A shoe was thrown at Home Minister P Chidambaram during a press conference in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The shoe was thrown by a journalist from the <b>Dainak Jagran daily </b>, Jarnail Singh, who was asking a question on the 1984 Sikh riots.

The man was immediately taken off the conference room and has been detained. While speaking to reporters, Jarnail Singh said that it is his way of protesting against the clean chit given to Congress leader and riots accused Jagdish Tytler.

If you watch background of Chidambaram, why Congress party election symbol and Sonia pictures? They are breaking rules.
<b>BJP promises to check illegal immigrants with ID cards</b><!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->"The introduction of ID card to every Indian will help the government identify illegal immigrants, especially from Bangladesh, and deport them," Advani said at an election meeting in central Karnataka, about 200 km from Bangalore.

The ID card will also help the government to prevent infiltration from across the borders and check the terror activities indulged by many of them, Advani told a gathering of about 15,000 people amidst tight security.

Accusing the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government of compromising on national security and failing to check infiltration or to deport illegal migrants from the north-east region, Advani said though the Supreme Court struck down the Illegal Migrants (Determination by Tribunals) Act (IMDTA) in July 2005, infiltration and influx of illegal migrants continued unabated from Bangladesh into north-eastern states.

"One of the root causes for escalating terrorism is unchecked infiltration and entry of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh in thousands. We need to find a permanent solution to end this menace," Advani asserted.

Highlighting the salient features of the party's manifesto and the IT vision document released for the general elections, Advani said besides computer literacy for all, the party's IT strategy would usher in e-governance across the country to infuse transparency across every layer of administration.

Karnataka is scheduled to go to polls April 23 and 30, with 17 constituencies in the first phase and 11 in the second phase.

Congress, Commies and low life corrupt babus will provide fake IDs to illegal for vote, money and other kind of favors from illegal immigrants.

"If the party leadership thinks that Azam Khan is essential for the party, I am willing to leave the party," he said tersely.

"There is a limit to my patience. I have always been asked by the party leadership to exercise restraint and not to retaliate. I may be small fry compared to Azam Khan but<b> I will not tolerate abusive language from anyone," </b>he said.
