PTI | September 16, 2008 | 00:56 IST
Terming the defection of four Samajwadi Party Members of Legislative Assembly as 'betrayal' on the part of the Congress, party general secretary Amar Singh has said that the party has broken his heart.
"Congress party has betrayed us by engineering the defection of four MLAs of our party. They have not only broken my party, but also my heart," Singh said while addressing a tribal convention ahead of assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh.
"We wanted to fight against communal forces with the Congress, but now no alliance will be forged with it and the SP will field its candidates on its own in all the 230 seats in MP," Singh said.
However, he said that he is a 'Kshatriya' and will abide by the commitment his party has given to Congress president Sonia Gandhi to cooperate with her party in Uttar Pradesh.
"We don't have any complaint with Sonia or Rahul, but leaders of Madhya Pradesh roaming around them have cheated us," Singh said while referring to the defection.
Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party for its failure to fulfill promises, he said that the state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is a 'champion of announcements' as he had made announcements worth Rs 40,000 crore in the state against the total budget of Rs 21,000 crore of the state.

Sangh Parivar out to boost BJP's Hindutva agenda before pollsQUOTEWith the role of some saffron groups under the scanner, Sangh Parivar outfits have now decided to close ranks with BJP on the issue of Hindutva and boost the party's efforts at clinching the upcoming assembly elections in six states.
Sangh organisations including VHP will launch a two- month-long nationwide cycle and motorcycle rally to inform citizens about the "conspiracy mooted by the UPA and allies" against the majority community to win over minority votes.
"The UPA and allies are directing the Maharashtra ATS to work on the lines of a bad detective novel. This conspiracy has to be busted and citizens made aware as the UPA wants to encash on minority votes," VHP spokesman Surendra Jain said.

I hope Ram Janam Bhumi group who had joined hands with Congress will also quit Congress now. Since Congress came to power they never raised issue of Ram Janam Bhumi WHY????
More than half of VHP is Congress party.
They need to put right candidates and ensure they get elected. When are the elections? Also some of the BJP supported might get banned before that date. UPA is playing by the rule book after Mahatma was killed.
Current India is not same India. They can't ban VHP or arresting Sadhus can scare people. These Sadhus had big following. Compare this with 1857 when Sadhus started first war of Independence. Or Chankaya started his agitation. India need same now to kick out Anglo-Commie-Congress from India's Political system. Whole political system and moron Babus who had corrupted India to core. Daily attack on majority religion on the name of nonsense secularism.
What Congress is trying to pull fast one against Hindus will backfire. If VHP, and Sadhus join hands with BJP, they can bring victory. Congress is trying to fight election with Mullah Yadav(Anti India Muslim terrorist group)+ LaLoo Yadav(rustic belt) + Congress + Congress criminals + Commie Maoist +Commie WB (mamta Banerjee).
Togadia and Ashok Singhal who had joined hands with Congress is not working, They never demanded Ram Jana Bhumi and gave smooth sailing to Queen and her cronies. Lets see where they rolll now.

I think that Sadhus must start people's movement in various cities against the crooked actions of UPA. It has to start building momentum by the time elections come.
I also get a feeling that they are specifically targetting people who are connected with Jammu agitation.

I feel the same way. Appeasement of minorities-Maltreatment of Hindus issue will be a big talking point for sadhus.
I thought Chattisgarh goes to polls on Friday. The hounding of sadhus will have blowback effect in Hindi belt.
I thought shamu was speaking of general elections..
Yes, ChG goes to polls in a few hrs...
Yes, I was talking about the elections in general.

RICE POLITICS: In an election scarred by price rise, dole becomes a direct vote-catcher.
Simga (Chhattisgarh): In an election scarred by price rise, dole becomes a direct vote-catcher and the Chief Minister becomes the Santa Claus.
Exactly a year ago, Raman Singh understood that he would have to play the rice card. He offered rice at Rs 3 per kg to the poor. It's this price of rice which may buy BJP a victory in Chhattisgarh.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh said, âThis state is the rice bowl and our schemes will make an impact. Whether it is our rice procurement policy or our scheme of giving rice at Rs 3 per kg, it has had an impact and it will help us in the elections."
In Chhattisgarh, it is auction time and the lowest bidder is likely to win. So, Congress made the counter offer of rice at Rs 2 a kg.
It couldn't have hoped to draw votes only on an anti-incumbency drive. So, the BJP surprised the Congress yet again by coming up with a fresh deal.
Its election manifesto pledges rice at Re 1 a kg. The common man however, is weighing his options.
âThe BJP has given rice at Rs 3 per kilo, let us see what they do in future. As far as the Congress is concerned they are still to be tested. Let's see what they do,â a resident of Simga, Rati Ram, said.
Chhattisgarh is one of the largest producers of rice in the country and the politics of the state has almost always revolved around rice. So both the Congress and BJP are competing to prove who will give rice at a lower price.
This time around the BJP, however, is in a slightly advantageous position as it has already delivered on providing rice at Rs 3 per kg.
When INC is doing everything to destroy the Indian Armed forces and the Sadhu sangh samaj to get votes how come providing economic relief for people suffering from the bad economic policies(not controlling inflation) of the Center is called vote buying?
INC used MEA/diplomats to release "Q" a.k. Queen's BF.
Volcker finding where Sonia was directly involved, no investigation.
N-deal to collect money for election.
Appointing all varities of criminal donkeys (no intention to insult donkey) to run country.
Failed economy.
Destroyed Armed forces.
Destroyed CBI and ATS.
No trust on any investigation.
Fake Press release by Government.
Destroyed agriculture.
They had made India into Banana Republic. Only face saving is Private sector.
Mudy, this time there seem to be no election forecasts / opinion polls ?
GS, BJP is taking Chattisgarh. Star news opinion poll gave 55-62 seats to BJP.

PTI | Srinagar/Leh
Braving freezing temperatures and ignoring separatists' boycott call, Voters came out in large numbers in some towns with an average 55 per cent turnout recorded in the first phase of the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir held amid unprecedented security.
The turnout was moderate to heavy and voting passed off peacefully except for stray incidents of violence and protests amid threats of militants disrupting the polls which was held in a curfew-like situation in 10 constituencies spread over four districts of Bandipora, Poonch, Leh and Kargil. Polling in the border State has been staggered over seven phases lasting up to December 24.
Around 55 per cent polling was registered in the 10 constituencies, Chief electoral officer BR Sharma told reporters in Srinagar.
Sharma said that Gurez constituency in the once terrorist-infested Bandipora district recorded the highest voting -- 74 per cent -- followed by Mendhar (65), Poonch (64), Surankote (58), Kargil (57), Nobra (55), Leh (53), Zanskar (48) and Bandipora and Sonawari (42 each).
Srinagar, Bandipora and other towns were almost totally locked down, as thousands of troops were out in force to prevent anti-election rallies. An estimated six lakh voters were eligible to vote in the first phase.
At least seven persons including a woman were injured as police fired a few teargas shells and used batons to disperse people protesting against holding of assembly elections in Bandipora district, official sources said.
The separatist co-ordination committee had given a call for 'Jehan election waha challo' (March to where elections are). But the march to Bandipora, 65 km north of Srinagar town, was foiled by security forces.
