UPA's Survival On 22nd July? And Aftermath -2
#81
The three BJP MPS case appears to be an entrapment: Amar Singh and Ahmed Patel seem to have decided to give them the money and have it taped by CNN-IBN who are in league with them. After the votes they would have released the tapes and made them look like fools. The three turned the tables on the SP/INC duo and the news channel.

The major surprise here is that Amar Singh is the active money distributor & MC. That means they (SP) expect to have a big payoff once its all over. Wonder what it is?

I hope Singh doesnt quit or do something silly to pave the way for SP revival of their vote bank.

And what is Jaya Bachan doing now that SP and INC have become strange bed fellows with Amar Singh as the MC!

We have third rate parties which do not know what is the meaning of being elected.

<b>JD-S MP speaks: Why I cross-voted</b>

Krishnakumar P and Vicky Nanjappa in New Delhi | July 22, 2008 23:44 IST

As speculated, a lot of MPs cross-voted and a few abstained, leaving the United Progressive Alliance with an easy win in the crucial vote.

Merely hours after voting, one of the MPs who cross-voted, Shivanna of the Janata Dal-Secular told rediff.com that he changed his mind at the last minute and decided to vote for the UPA, defying his party, which only two days ago decided to vote against the government, and also issued a whip to that effect.

And -- hold your breath -- he is the JD-S whip, effectively meaning Shivanna the MP flouted an order issued by Shivanna the party leader!

"What our leader did yesterday was wrong. He shouldn't have made the decision to go against the UPA and side with the Bahujan Samaj Party, the Left and the Third Front. I felt it was not the correct decision and took a last minute decision according to my conscience," Shivanna said.

He said Deve Gowda's move to side with the Third Front and Mayawati would weaken the JD-S in the state and -- more important for him -- in his constituency. "The BSP and the Third Front are all non-existent powers in my state. And during the last elections, in the four to five new constituencies that were introduced (due to the delimitation process) we did not do well.
<b>
That is why I personally felt that it will be a problem if I remain with the JD-S. In the future if I wanted to contest from the same constituency on a JD-S ticket, my position would have been weakened. That is why I voted for the Congress and I will soon join that party," said Shivanna, a former Congress member who changed his loyalty to the JD-S in 2004.</b>

He also added he will go to his constituency and explain to his people by way of road shows why it is a good decision.

Shivanna also said he was very much for the nuclear deal and that was also one of the reasons he decided to move away from his party, which had opposed the deal.

"The nuclear deal is a very good thing for the country. Our party had only three minutes to speak and MP Veerendra Kumar spoke for all the three minutes. If I had the time I would have spoken in favour of the deal.

This deal is definitely is in the interest of the nation. The future generation will hugely benefit from this deal. If we had not voted in favour of the deal, it would have been a great injustice to the nation on the part of the politicians," he said.

BTW this is a monumental record....

Two things. The JDS MP was representing his group/self interests and not the party's interests. As long as this continues suitcase voting will continue. So this guy is afraid of the delimtation exercise and goes to the Congress for an electable seat along with who knows what. If Devagowda wants to retainhis party discipline he has to do whatever i necessary persuade him. Or else all his flock will desert him.

rajeshG, It shows their vote management skills. I think the SS MP got kidnapped or told to go into hiding else he is dead meat. I saw a similar case in college.
But that was goonda giri!

Reliance will make big money and Amar Singh son will be another Energy tycoon.

I think, apart from left, other loser is JD(S). The party leaders had showed its members that it is not ethics but self interest that matters. No wonder the chief whip himself decided to go to the safe haven of money and power.
#88
TDP's Naidu also faced cross voting which was unexpected. BSP will be more careful of future promises.

This is just the start but now the Indians have to make the Ambanis look after the national interest. This is the key since they will also own the whole sociology study setup built by the Rockefeller.
Right of the center policy is required to remove decades of socialist policies and also ability to create a dominant political group which looks after the civilizational heritage of India.
#92
Can you tell us more about the sociology centers setup by US pwer brokers/Rockefellers? I am interested in the period before the First world war. We need to take a look again. Maybe in another thread.

How the money changed hands!

Tue, Jul 22 07:55 PM

New Delhi, Jul 22 (PTI) The three BJP MPs who suprised everybody by tabling Rs one crore in the Lok Sabha today named <b>SP MP Reoti Raman Singh and SP General Secretary Amar Singh</b> for striking a deal with them and giving them the cash. "We were contacted on Monday and told the deal would be struck in Le Meridian hotel here but that could not take place.

Later, SP MP Reoti Raman Singh came to meet us at 12:30 am at 4, Ferozshah Road and said please come with me to Amar Singh's house where the deal would be finalised," Fagan Singh Kulaste told reporters. Kulaste, along with Mahavir Bhagore and Ashok Argal, emptied a bag with Rs one crore in cash in the Lok Sabha today and claimed this money was given as advance to them to abstain from voting.

The house on Ferozshah Road is occupied by Argal. <b>"In the morning today, Ahmed Patel (Cong) discussed the deal with us.</b>

Thereafter, we went with Reoti Raman Singh to Amar Singh's house where he offered us Rs three crore-- Rs one crore each as advance-- there and then. But, we refused to take the money and said it should be delivered at 4, Ferozshah Road," Kulaste said.

"About twenty minutes later a man came to the residence with two bags full of cash and put it on the table. I asked him to open the bags to show whether the cash was real or fake.

Then he took out Rs one crore in cash," said Mahavir Bhagora, another BJP MP who had displayed the wads in the House. "<b>A man telephoned Amar Singh who told me this money is an advance for the deal</b>," Argal said.

It is the stuff reality television is made of. And it had people all over the country glued to Lok Sabha Television like never before.

Data collected from cable and satellite homes by aMap shows that 9.5 lakh people tuned in to Lok Sabha Television on July 21. The average viewership for the channel, that runs talk shows, documentaries and biographies of political leaders, is about 6 lakh.

INC was quite clever to have Amar Singh as the bag man. So any dirt goes to the SP guy. And while the corruption was between INC and SP the TV channel 'sting' is aimed at the BJP. Looks like BJP trio were able to turn the tables. In US there are laws to charge folks for abetment of crimes and not informing police of impending crime. Wonder if there are similar laws to charge the network.
Gandhiji said that laws are made for the welfare of the people of the people and need to be broken if welfare is the casualty. Except for PN Lekhi, nobody else's opinion whom you have quoted is worth the paper on which it is written. The best thing under the circumstances was for speaker to investigate the corruption and hold the voting till truth was unearthed as this investigation would have been directly proportional to the outcome of voting. Now that has not happened, it can only be postmortem at it's best. Please convey my displeasure to legal experts for their unnatural expertise except PN Lekhi.
