Various Indian States on Friday showcased the development and growth that have changed their profile of their states, at the 7th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. But they had one common message for the Diaspora - recession has not affected the economy of the states in India.
Even states like Bihar and Haryana came up with lists of industrial and social growth that are changing the social and economic structure towards progress. But it was Naredra Modi's "vibrant Gujurat" concept that captivated the delegates. When separate state interactive sessions were conducted, it was Gujarat session that drew the crowd.
In his two speeches that kept the delegates applauding, Modi claimed that Gujurat has become a model state and symbol for growth and development because of his five basic thoughts - holistic, uniform and all-pervasive development; need for a quantum jump and total change, empowering people by making them active partners, public-private participation; and, application of technology to make governance easy. Most projects in the state are through public-private partnership. Chennai: "No one should preach us secularism and I don't want any certificate from any part of the world." This was the reply from Gujarat chief Minister Narendra Modi to a query about the United States' refusal to issue visa to him.
Interacting with investors at the state session at the seventh Pravasi Bhartiya Divas meet in Chennai, Modi said, "History says secularism is in our blood. We as a community never attack any one, any time, any where. We believe in harmony."
When a delegate queried about the Gujarat communal riots and the subsequent delay in their probe, Modi shot back saying: "Do you think the Centre would have left me like this if they had any proof against me? I have a government that is unfavourable at the Centre and their quietness says it all."
Highlighting Gujarat's progress, Modi said public-private partnership model, peopleâs involvement and friendly policies were the key factors for the success of his government.
On the judiciary front, there were only 22 lakh cases pending as on date against 45 lakh cases in 2005. By 2010, Gujarat's golden jubilee year, the state aims to achieve zero pendency of cases, he added.
Focussing on the connectivity aspect of the state, Modi said Gujarat was the first in Asia to achieve broadband connectivity in all its 80,000 villages."

Ignoring the usability, presentation, color themes ithyadi. The focus from BJP seems to be the 3 leaders (all aging). I have nothing against old people, one day I am going to be old too. And I have old parents.
The USA parties' websites seem to be screaming why one should be a liberal or a democrat. It appears that they portray themselves nationally & locally.
I understand Indian politics is quite different from American politics, the issues are different; the people are different. But BJP has to reinvent itself if it wants to be something meaningful down the years.
BJP might realize, just like the INC or other parties, that people vote on caste, religious and local reasons. What appears in the domestic or foreign media does not matter for gaining power. But left unchecked, the domestic media's onslaught against BJP can tarnish the image of the party.
If BJP wins in the general elections, I will bet money that there will be many reports/headlines in the foreign media that will definitely use the words "right wing". Like "Hindu right wing party gains power" or something to that nature. When the Republicans win in USA, it would be just conservatives - not right wing.
By attacking BJP, Shekawat is making sure he has the support of the Congress for his election to LS just in case he does not get a BJP ticket. He might probably contest as an Independent. He might also set up his friends against BJP. This he would do even if he gets BJP ticket for himself.

Let me not start my rant on Indian websites and their quality and theme. There will be no end to it.
I was reading Advani's blog, and it was interesting to read about the literature he created, when he was 25 years old, and was going to distribute in the Gujjar dominated areas. The story yet again throws what is important in our elections.
And maybe that is why they do not focus on things that we think are important. I am sure for a few thousands rupees the website can be tidied up. But do they think it is important? For some reason they thought having a website was important.
I am sure they use in India too. Also they must be getting paid too. But these folks are pressed into different kinds of service - they are more foot soldiers. I bet the website designers in USA are paid to do what they do.
I often say, in India it is called bribe; in USA it is called fees. I hope they open up for the NRIs to vote in the General Elections.

Sangh sources say <b>the seers feel the BJP is diluting Hindutva to appear moderate and that its sole purpose is to win power, not to protect the religious interests of the majority community.</b>
The sources say the <b>top Sangh leadership has expressed inability to stop the seers from turning against the BJP at a time parliamentary polls are near.</b>
<b>The sadhus feel that Hindus are being insulted by the so-called secular forces, which have created an impression that pampering religious minorities is a legitimate socio-political exercise,</b> Sangh leaders have told the BJP.
<b>BJP leaders have tried to explain their compulsions in a coalition era but have convinced neither the Sangh nor the larger community of Hindu seers,</b> who help mobilise public opinion in favour of the party during elections.
The dilemma on an ideological issue has created confusion within the BJP too: some leaders fear the âmoderate projectâ will end up reducing the party to a Congress copycat.
<b>These leaders rubbish the argument of coalition compulsions and recall that the BJP had managed to draw allies and form its first government at the Centre because of the Ram temple movement. There is no denying that the BJP is the only national-level option for Hindutva forces.

Togadia and Ashok Singhal are Congress Party supporters; they will try to sabotage BJP.
Have you heard any call for to build Ram temple since Congress came into power? But just one year before last General election, Togadia and Ashok Singhal's everyday news conference against BJP and call for Ram temple etc. What happened to those bricks if they remain unused will be curse? Togadia brother joined Congress Party and tried his luck in last Gujarat state election.
We should watch these two guys before election. Last week Ashok Singhal gave his signal , when he attacked BJP. We know Puri Seer is Congress supporter.
