Regarding the posts that Hyderabad is changing and its character is changing - I belive when India is becoming a huge modern empire of the future it has to change. I think changes to Hyd is the glimple of changes that are happening to India due to massive economic change. This is unstoppable. The question is will we be able to bring back pre-mughal non-mental-slavery based glory back or not.

I would argue that Hyd character is still unique. May be the old uniqueness is replaced by the new uniqueness. I disagree that it has become a big Vijayawada. There are some pockets in the new city that look like Vijayawada. People of coastal AP are with lots of money and enterprenueral and they invested heavily in Chennai before 80s.(During the combined Madras state, majority of Madras are Telugus). After 85 this enterprenural class shifted gears towards Hyderbad and the result is what we are seeing now.

There is still a strong Shia Muslim community in Hyderabad, especially in the "Old City" (area of Hyderabad south of the river Musi). Many of them claim their roots to Iran and Persia. After Lucknow, Hyderabad is one of the most prominent Shia Muslim strongholds in the Indian Subcontinent.</i>
My recent observations of Hyd Muslims:
Rich Muslims consists of muslims with blood lines to Turkey, Iran and other middle eastern countries. These are truly like the rape classes of TSP. The lower srtata of muslims are exploited and brainwashed a lot and this is the problem area.
These days you see a lot of Bangladeshis and pakistanis in hyd muslim areas. There are some crazy folks in Hyd who followed like a cult and married people from Pakistan deliberately. Using these relatives there are many legal and illegal Pakistanis. The economic conditions of the city is too good for these folks to be drivers and cleaners of vehicles in the city. They form the low level intel for ISI and are part of the active sleeper cells of the city. This is the bombshell that is exploding these days in the form of international islamism.
Regaridng neutralizing these sleeper cells, there needs to be a will like Narendra Modi to take head on. Police in Hyd is very efficient and they know all these cells.
-I lived briefly as an intern during my BS in Hyd in the first half of 1990s and remember that there was always some tension and fear of riots. But in my conservations I was informed that there would be clear Hindu retaliation. Riots are typically initiated by Moslems (as GS has demonstrated) but perhaps having learned the possibility of huge Hindu retaliation they Moslems are thinking of alternatives -- one of which may be this style of bombing.
-The ancestors of the Nizam were of the Turco-Mongol nobility originally from Uzbekistan. The Qutbshahis who ruled before Awrangzeb's conquest of the land were actually far more tolerant in their last years. Though they too employed many from the Moslem world outside India, they did employed many Hindus in their administration. They were allies of Shivaji and Brahmana ministers conducted most day to day administration in during the reign of the last two Shahs and were also prime ministers of the last Shah. The Qutb Shah was a Shia belonging to the family of Qara Qoyunulu Turks and not strongly aligned to the other Sunni potentates occupying Hindustan. They had enmity with the Timurids right from Central Asia as Timur had smashed them in the campaign of 1400. The Qutbs also allowed the use of Telugu rather than forcing Urdu on the population. After the fall of the Qutb Shahs to the Mogols a more virulent breed of Sunnis were brought it to shore up the Nizam's rule, including many from Iraq, Samarqand and the like. The Nizam always had his elite force of foreign Moslems and thought little of the Deccanis. The virulence of the Moslems might have actually increased during the reign of the Nizams with many of the elite having little to do with the Telugu population.

Sources tell CNN-IBN the police are searching for a man called named Mujibur Rahman but authorities refused to comment if he is a suspect in their investigation.
The police have asked madrassas to supply information on their students and teachers and their source of funding. Police teams, since August 25, have visited at least 10 madrassas including the Jamia Islamia Darul Uloom in Shivrampalli and Jami Anwar Ul Huda in Kishanbagh.
The police investigation has upset the Deeni Madrasa Board, the top organ of all madrassas in Andhra Pradesh. The board has objected to the police visits, and is meeting Chief Minister Y S Rajashekhar Reddy in the evening to register its protest.
âMadrassas is an educational institution; it is open to all. Raiding a madrassas in the dead of night will send wrong signals and create communal frenzy,â Moulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, general secretary of the Deeni Madarsa Board, told the Deccan Chronicle newspaper.

After Mohammed Shadab, another youth, who was allegedly pressurised by the police to turn informer has been taken into custody for questioning in connection with the twin blasts of last to last Saturday.
Mohammed Rayees was taken into custody by the Special Task Force personnel in Secunderabad on Friday night when he was returning home from work.
Shadab and Rayees had had told a Press conference in June last year that police were constantly harassing them to turn informers and help them in nabbing those involved in the Mecca Masjid blast.
<b>Shadab has been taken into custody and now Rayees has also been picked up, creating tension in Saeedabad and Malakpet areas of the old city.</b>
<b>Rayees was an eyewitness to the killing of Mujahid Saleem by Gujarat police officer Narender Amin in October 2004 in Hyderabad. </b>
His family claimed that due to the constant pressure from the police, Rayees had lost his previous job and his engagement to a girl was also broken.
Police picked up many other people from different parts of old city for questioning.

HYDERABAD/NEW DELHI, Sept 3: Top Harkat-ul-Jamaat-e-Islami functionary and mastermind behind the recent Hyderabad twin blasts, Abdul Bari alias Abu Hamza, was arrested over the weekend in Bangladesh, police said. Hamza hails from Hyderabad.
Hamza is the second-in-command of HuJI after its self-styled south India commander, Shahid alias Bilal. Hamza, on directions from Bilal, executed the twin blasts with the help of other HuJI operatives and extended logistical support.
He is suspected to have sent 10 kg of RDX to Hyderabad. <b>Hamza is said to be involved in the assassination of Gujarat home minister Haren Pandya. Hamzaâs name figures in the list of 15 accused in the conspiracy case</b>.
Officials of the Special Investigation Cell, which is investigating the blasts, have left for Delhi to meet Intelligence Bureau officials to ensure Hamzaâs extradition. India and Bangladesh recently decided to have a joint mechanism for action against terror and sharing of Intelligence. India and Bangladesh do not have an extradition treaty.

*Hyderabad:* Three major bomb blasts within a span of few months and 'Brand
Hyderabad' has already taken a beating.
The industries and information technology departments have reported a
decrease in investment-related queries since the terror attacks.
The state government is now planning a publicity campaign highlighting
security measures taken to combat terror.
The government wants to showcase its latest initiative, the 'Octopus', an
anti-terror cell of 13,000 policemen with an annual budget of Rs 300 crore.
The campaign will cost the state exchequer Rs 30 crore.
"We'll definitely be able to take care of all these multi-nationals through
the governmental agencies by way of providing all the needful information to
them and through their own private security by way of giving training to
them," says Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S R Reddy.
An RBI study says Andhra Pradesh got investment of Rs 25,173 crore in
2006-2007, second only to Gujarat.
Officials maintain that the Mecca Masjid blasts hardly had any impact on the
investments and that between then and last month's twin blasts, Hyderabad
received investments of over Rs 380 crore in the IT sector.
"Leaving apart on such stray incident that has happened unfortunately, the
industry has matured enough to absorb this kind of situations in the long
run, which I'm sure is not going to leave any kind of a serious impact,"
says Director, STPI, E.Manoj Kumar.
A recent World-Bank-IFC study showed Hyderabad as the most business-friendly
city in India. In the wake of the recent terror attacks, it is this image of
the city that may keep investments flowing in, at least for now.

A West Bengal and NOIDA link has emerged to not just Thursday's blast at the Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Dargah in Ajmer, but also the one at Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad.
Top officials in Kolkata said on Saturday that the SIM card used in the Ajmer and Mecca Masjid blasts were bought in the fictitious name of one Babulal Yadav from Uma Telecom in Balanpur in Bengal.
<b>Terrorists had used the fictitious Yadav name but the photograph on the registration form has been traced to Taraknath, a doctor from Noida.</b>
<b>Who is Taraknath? The CBI is interrogating him though reports suggest he approached the sleuths after his photo was shown on TV and linked to the blasts. </b>He is Head of Department of Physical Education in Noida College of Physical Education.
<b>Sleuths say the terrorists had forged a driving licence with Nath's photo and subsequently used it to buy the SIM cards.</b>
<b>Taraknath joined the college in 1999 as a guest lecturer and rose to become HOD. "The CBI quizzed him on Saturday. He has been co-operating and will hopefully come clean," said SK Rajput, college chairman. </b>
Nath, however, refused to comment on the development. He is an alumnus of the Luxmi Bai National Institute of Sports, Gwalior. He has been asked not to leave NCR without permission of the investigation officer.
<b>"I have no information about today's development. But yes, we have been keeping a watch on him since he is under suspicion," said S P city Paresh Pandey.
Meanwhile, cops in Kolkata said that the terrorists bought several sim cards using the Yadav name. The sim cards for the Hyderabad blasts as well as the one in Ajmer could have been bought at the same time, </b>they said.
<b>"We are awaiting inputs from the Rajasthan Police and would look into all aspects of the blast and its Bengal or Bangladesh links," </b>an officer said.
The assembling of the bomb, which had been kept in a tin box with a packing of iron pipes to be used as splinters, was similar to that used in the Mecca Masjid blast. The explosive material TNT with a mix of RDX, had been connected to the alarm of the mobile phone.

The cinema hall was evacuated. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Chandra Shekhar said that the theatre was being searched for any other explosives.

The serial blasts on Friday in the civil court premises of three cities in which 14 people died come close on the heels of the roughing up of the three JeM militants, who has planned to kidnap Rahul Gandhi, in the session court premises in Lucknow last Saturday.
The JeM terrorists were roughed up by the agitated lawyers who almost succeeded in snatching them from the security personnel accompanying them in the court.
shouting slogans that the militants be hanged, the lawyers surrounded them and the police and PAC personnel had a tough time in taking them to safety.
<b>Five militants, who were arrested in connection with the July 2005 attack on the Ram Janambhoomi complex at Ayodhya, had also failed to secure a lawyer as the Faizabad Bar Association had barred the lawyers to represent them. </b>
Unavailability of a legal representative resulted in repeated adjournments of the matter and things had come to such a pass that the authorities had approached the district and High Court to shift the trial to some other place.
All aspects of the blasts are being investigated, including this angle, said a top police official on being asked whether courts might have been targeted as retaliation.
Former president of Avadh Bar Association, Ashok Nigam, said the serial blasts were aimed at undermining the faith of the people in the judiciary.
Local lawyers said the JeM militants would not be allowed to enter the court here. Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bal Mukund, had to go to the district jail to hear the remand application of the police early this week.
<b>Huji suspected behind serial blasts </b>
Banned Harkat-Ul-Jehadi Islamia (Huji) is believed to be behind the todayâs serial blasts.
Sources in the security agencies said the terror strike could be seen as a revenge by the banned outfit for the assault on its members.
They said Jaish could have sought the help of Huji as both the outfits followed the Deoband sect of Islam.
Huji, which is being mainly run from Bangaldesh, has managed to establish cells in the Uttar Pradesh and that the outfit was responsible for previous major terror attacks.
All three court premises in Lucknow, Faizabad and Varanasi, targeted today by the militants, had seen an incident of manhandling of militants or activists of anti-Ram temple in Ayodhya by lawyers.
Faizabad court premises was witness to an altercation between activists of a Babri Masjid Organisation and lawyers. The local bar association had banned its advocates from taking up their case.
