Absolutely. British played a big part in goading the muslims to think this way. My point is that they already feel that way. Whether or not we give credence to it does not really matter.
A mullah with his rhetoric can whip them up to a frenzy much like in the Marad riots etc. When it comes to investigating cases like this we have to do this strictly by the book, no macho 'kill them in encounters' etc. Look at the case of afzal guru with accusations of human rights violation etc. The police have to build an airtight case backed by strong evidence.

It's the govt job to make them integrate. Coddling them is not the answer, I agree with you. Outside pressure has to be applied otherwise the people will take the law into their own hands and we will have riots. I seriously doubt whether muslims agreed at all to be secular either implicitly or explicitly in 47. Most stayed b/c they couldnt afford to leave. We know that Maulana Azad wanted muslims to stay in India to make it Dar-ul-Islam. He saw the partition as a defeat to Islam in India. The Indian govt with its policies of catering to muslims really gives no incentives for them to integrate. Why should they? To paraphrase the PM, why should they lose out on the first cut of all resources?

Day after B'lore, 16 blasts kill 29 in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad witnessed a bloody Saturday with 16 explosions in 70 minutes killing 29 and injuring 100 just a day similar blasts rocked Bangalore. Â
The weekend was rudely cut short by the first blast at 6.45 pm in Maninagar, Chief Minister Narendra Modi's constituency, and then continued from the fringes to the heart of the city. The targeting of Ahmedabad speaks of precise planning aimed at creating widespread panic.
The toll is expected to climb with many battling for life in hospitals. Reports said <b>two doctors treating patients at Civil Hospital also died in a blast at the facility. </b>
Amid all the gore, concerned citizens queued up at hospitals to donate blood. Chief Minister Narendra Modi, appealed to the people to remain calm and united in the face of provocation. "The time has come to get ready for the protracted and long battle against forces inimical to the country. Unity is essential for it", he said, terming the Saturday mayhem a terrorist attack on India.
The blasts came shortly after an email warning by the Indian Mujahideen outfit sent to a private TV channel daring the administration.
Officials described the blasts as low intensity but the clear targeting of crowded areas with the first and second one within five minutes talked of precision planning.
Beginning from Maninagar, the blasts rocked Hatkeshwar Circle, Bapunagar, Narol, Ishanpur, Sarangpur Bridge, Sarkhej, Raipur, Civil Hospital, LG Hospital and Vastrapur. Each of these areas witnessed two to three blasts.
<b>The explosions came within minutes of a TV channel receiving an e-mail from the ID, alarabi.gujarat@ yahoo.com</b>, which warned of blasts within minutes and dared the administration to avert them if it could. The e-mail was signed 'Indian Mujahideen'. An emergency meeting of the State Cabinet was convened by Modi even as Home Secretary Balwant Singh and DGP PC Pandey went into a late night huddle.
<b>Twenty ambulances have been placed at strategic locations to rush the injured to hospitals without loss of time and barriers have sprung up at entry points to the city. Forensic teams have fanned out to the blast locations to piece together the evidence.</b>
As innocent blood spilled the streets, there was widespread panic with hospitals and even police stations being targeted. Mobile networks were jammed as people sought to contact their near and dear ones.
The explosives were kept in tiffin boxes strapped to bicycles which were placed at crowded locations, designed to cause maximum damage.
An Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service bus was selected in the minorities' dominated Sarkhej. The blast was calculated to turn the vehicle into an inferno but even though it's flank was ripped apart by the explosion,t here was only one casualty
In Narol, the explosive bicycle was placed near the hanuman temple, where devotees throng on Saturday evening. However, the blast here came a bit earlier in the day keeping the casualty low.
Knowing that the injured would be rushed to either the Civil Hospital or the L G Municipal Hospital in Maninagar, the culprits triggered blasts in both facilities sending waves of panic.
While one blast occurred near the trauma centre at Civil Hospital, the other took place in L G Hospital.
The diamond market in Bapunagar was selected as people converge near the bus stand in the evening to exchange notes on the day's business. There were two blasts here: One near the bus stand and another, minutes later, about 200 metres from the spot.

A comparative analysis of Islamist terrorist strikes during the six years (1998-2004) when the BJP-led NDA was in power and LK Advani was Home Minister, and those during the four years and two months the Congress-led UPA has been in power, knocks the bottom out of Congress's claim, most recently repeated by the Prime Minister in Parliament last Tuesday.
<b>At least 598 people have died and many more injured in jihadi attacks outside J&K since the UPA came to power in the summer of 2004.</b> These attacks include serial bombings, like those in Ahmedabad on Saturday, and raids by suicide squads, like the bid to blow up the Ram mandir at Ayodhya. <b>The toll in such attacks during the NDA years was 237.</b>
The loss of lives is much higher if separatist violence in J&K and in the North-East, and Maoist violence in other States are factored in. The overall tally for UPA years would be at least 5,272. Nearly a 1000 lives have been lost in Maoist violence, which has also resulted in the death of over 600 securitymen in the past four years.
There were 12 major jihadi attacks when NDA was in power from early-1998 to mid-2004. Of these, three resulted in heavy casualties: The massacre at Chhamba on August 8, 1998 (35 killed); the fidayeen attack on Akshardham temple on September 24, 2002 (32 killed); and, the bombings in Mumbai near Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar on August 25, 2003 (52 killed).
There have been many more jihadi attacks of greater severity between June 2004 and July 2008. The bombings in Delhi on October 29, 2005, resulted in 62 deaths; the blasts at Sankatmochan Mandir and Varanasi Railway Station on March 7, 2006, left 21 people dead; the commuter train bombings in Mumbai on July 11, 2006, claimed 209 lives; the Malegaon bombings of September 8, 2006, killed 40 people; the bombing of the Delhi-Atari special train killed 68 passengers; the bombings in Hyderabad on August 25, 2007, killed 44 people. The May 13, 2008 bombings in Jaipur killed 82 people.
In the past 24 hours, more than 30 people have been killed in the Bangalore and Ahmedabad bombings. Clearly,<b> NDA's record shines in comparison to that of the UPA Government. But misperception shrouds the truth</b>.
