Punjab CM appeals for peace, harmony
<b>At least 12 persons were seriously injured in a clash between followers of Dera Sacha Sauda of Sirsa and certain Sikh organisations at Bathinda</b>, the cotton hub of Punjab, 230 km from here.
The clashing groups openly used sharp-edged weapons, including swords and spears. Heavy police force was deployed after the incident, reports reaching here said.
Additional DGP Chander Shekhar who described the situation as peaceful and under control said no arrests had been made so far. He said that Inspector General Patiala range MK Tiwari would conduct an inquiry into incident.
The Bathinda incident is seen as a repeat of the Sikh-Nirankari clash in Amritsar on April 13, 1978 in which 13 Sikhs were killed in firing by followers of Nirankari chief Baba Gurbachan Singh. Nirankaris were ex-communicated from the Sikh Panth by Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs after the clash. The Amritsar clash was the turning point in the militancy that engulfed the State for over two decades till the late 90s.
<b>Communal tension was building up between the followers of Dera Sacha Sauda and Sikh organisations since the time of the Punjab Assembly elections in February, following Dera head Baba Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh's instructions to back the candidates fielded by the Congress. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had lost at least 24 seats in the Malwa region of State due to this.</b>
In recent weeks there were reports of minor disputes between followers of Dera Sacha Sauda and Sikh organisations who criticised the Dera chief for serving vested interests.
<b>An advertisement issued by the Dera Sacha Sauda on Sunday in certain English newspapers was the flash point of Monday's violence. The Dera chief was shown dressed like Sikh Gurus and he had called a congregation on Monday to baptise his followers, a practice which is prevalent in Sikh religion.
The Sikh organisations opposed the action of the Dera chief and marched towards the function in the morning at around 8.30 am. where they were confronted by the Dera followers, police sources said</b>.
It may be a coincidence that Parkash Singh Badal was the Chief Minister in 1978 and is again in charge in 2007 when communal violence has rocked the State.

Please read the bolded parts that Mudy has posted. The Dera chief claims to be a Sikh guru which as we all know the last one was Guru Gobind Singhji. To add insult to injury this guy was supporting the INC in last elections. So he must have some backing from the INC back room guys, to start asserting his guruness to create trouble. Its a sect, so-called "secular" no restriction of any kind. Followers are mainly, low caste Jat, small labor and others. There are criminal charges pending against this sectâs head, people say head of this sect is womanizer and involved in murder. Cases are pending in court and Congress in Harayana is not taking any action against him.
Congress/Arminder Singh had created this monster to neutralize Akhali, but this sect activity is against Sikh Panth and Akhal Takhat.
Dera in commonly used as rest area something like Sarai, it can be Daramshala or somebody house. I can recall during out of city marriages we used to stay in âderaâ , sometimes it was somebody house or Dharamshala. Everyone refer it as âDeraâ.

Congress drew a sect Dera Sacha Sauda in politics for the creation of Operation Blue Star like situation. Congress got fatwa from Dera chief in its favor in the previous held assembly election of Punjab. Congress developed the leadership of Bhinderwale to divide Shiromani Akali Dal and later supported Nirankaris to crush the Bhinderwale.Â
<b>From where the name Dera Sacha Sauda came </b>
Dera Sacha Sauda sect in fact follows Sikh Panth and Guru Nanak Saheb. The name of Dera sacha sauda is also picked up from an incident of the life of Guru Nanak. One day father of Guru Nanak sent his son for purchasing some goods and gave money fot that. Nanak dev went but he gave all money to the saints and came back home. Nanak dev replied his father that he distributed the money between the needy saints and that was a sacha sauda. Thus Dera picked up this name. But in later as happened generally every new sect, begins to compete their original panth. Perhaps this same is happening now with Dera sacha sauda as happened with Nirankaris. Congress as its character gives fuel to the fire.
<b>Creation of Operation Blue Star by Congress </b>
In the Pre-Operation Blue Star period the former S.G.P.C. Akali, and experienced politician Jail Singh, on the instruction of Congress High Command dreamed the best way to break up the S.G.P.C. Akali Dal/Bhartiya Jan Sangh (Preesent BJP) coalition was to wean the Sikh support away from the S.G.P.C.
As the historian Patwant Singh comments: âThe person chosen for the role was Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala, a seminary preacher with a considerable knowledge of the Sikh scriptures,â
Jail Singh with Congress played his clever card to destroy the Akali Dal/Bhartiya Jang Sang coalition by encouraging the Sant Nirankaris to hold a convention in Amritsar. This in turn gave JailSingh a weapon with which to potentially smash the Akali Dal/Jan Sangh coalition. Jail Singh was fully aware that the Sant Nirankaris were considered a heretical Sikh sect and perceived by most Sikhs as a enemy of Sikhism. Sant Nirankaris asked the Punjab government permission to hold the convention in Amritsar, this put the Akali Dal in a predicament.Â
Jail Singh had played his card well and the Akali Dal decided to let the convention go ahead and weather the storm of Sikh protest. On 13th April 1978, the Nirankari convention took place in Amritsar. A fanatical agricultural inspector named Fauja Singh, affiliated with the Akhand Kirtani Jatha and Bhindrawala marched through the streets of Amritsar to confront the Sant Nirankaris. Thirteen of the, followers of Bhrindranwale, and three or four Nirankaris were shot.
The Congress Party began to whip up anti-Sant Nirankari sentiments amongst the Sikhs via their Congress-controlled Sikh temples in Delhi. Not wishing to alienate their coalition partners, the S.G.P.C. Akalis tried to play down the Sant Nirankari incident in Punjab. The Congress-held Gurdwaras in Delhi promoted Bhindrawala as a hero of the Sant Nirankari incident. Meanwhile the Sant Nirankaris had their court case moved from Punjab to neighboring state of Haryana because they felt that in Punjab they would not get a fair hearing.Â
The Haryana courts acquitted the Sant Nirankaris on grounds of self-defence. Here the stone of Operation Blue Star was kept by Congress. And this stone ultimately became the cause of assassination of Indira Gandhi. Congress never wants to learn lessons from its unforgivable sins against the nation. The Congress Party of the Indian government began to play a role in this clash when they started to support the cause of the Nirankaris. For example, the Congress Party paid for many expenses of the Nirankari Congregation. The Congress Party 's support for the Nirankaris formation deepened the division between the Orthodox Sikhs and the Indian government. This tension between the two parties eventually led Bhrindranwale to seek refuge in the Golden Temple out of fear that he would be executed by the Indian Army.
<b>Congress sowed the seeds of Khalistan</b>
Prior to the Khalistani movement in the 1980s, there is no example of Sikhs persecuting any heretical movement within it ranks. Even the despicable Sikh sect, the Handalias, who caused so much harm to the Khalsa in the 19th century were allowed to die a natural and inevitable death. It is the Congress which sowed the seeds of Khalistan.Â
The media in the Punjab took the part of the Nirankaris on the pica of' secularism. So did the Congress party which, on returning to power at the Centre, dismissed the Akali government in the Punjab, where too fresh elections were held and Congress government installed.
The same roles are being played by the so called media and the Congress to create hurdles before the SAD (B) fight. This is not going only in Punjab. Congress and Left create this situation every where through various divide and ruld policy: Save Afzal move, highlighting of fake encounter of terrorist a man of Don Daud, Freedom of Expression through MS Uniersity of Vadodara and Indore. Kerala Govt. of left has decided to reward the MF Hussain for making nude painting of Bharatmata and Hindu god goddeses.
<b>Operation Blue Star and Present Violence in Punjab </b>
The same situation is being created by Congess in Punjab with the help of Dera Sacha Sauda. Sirsa border of Haryana and Punjab is the capital of this sect and Haryana is ruled by Congress. After its defeat in Punjab by wasting the fatwa of this sect, Congress and sect both want to teach the lesson DAD (B) and BJP coilation government as the Congress of Indira did in the past.

There is a book âBande Tou Rabâ, where it is clearly mentioned that âDera Sacha Sauda has nothing todo neither with any political party nor in future will be related to any political partyâ¦â¦â¦.â But Congress managed them scusscessfully for getting fatwa in its favor from the Dera Sacha sauda.
<b>DM orders taking over of Dera property in Himachal </b>
As reported on April 27, Kangra district magistrate Bharat Khera has asked the revenue department to take over the possession of 175 kanals of prime land in Chachian village of Palampur subdivision of Kangra district as the state property and âvest the property in the name of the state government as the owner in revenue recordsâ.Â
The land was allegedly the âbenamiâ property of Dera Sacha Sauda that was acquired by it in the names of some local people.Â
<b>Murder of journalist </b>
On October 24, a gunman fired several shots at Chaterpatti, a journalist based in Sirsa, a town in the northern state of Haryana. Chaterpatti was taken to an area hospital but was later transferred to the Apollo Hospital in New Delhi.
Police arrested three suspects, including the alleged gunman and a leader of the Sirsa-based religious sect Dera Sacha Sauda, according to the Press Trust of India news agency.

Thanks. As can be seen from the election results the DSS has some large support in some regions eg. Malwa region and has the hidden hand of INC. So this thing wont die down unless there is a iron hand and velvet glove policy. Those seven MLAs should be locked up and charged with TADA or something like that. Same time message has to be delivered to INC not to disturb Punjab again and put back the progress since the 90s. This has to be done by well meaning Sikh leaders who care for Punjab.
We need to understand the class conflict which is at the root of this movement. What are the drivers?

Office bearers of the Dera have said that they would not tolerate attack on their followers and properties in Punjab. More than 20,000 followers of the sect assembled at Sirsa in Haryana and have threatened to march towards Behind, where Sikhs allegedly assaulted two of its members.
The Dera head also refused to apologise to the Sikhs

During Khalistan movement Congress was able to unite Hindus and able to get majority in Parliament without any support. Looks like Congress strategy to regain power without any support. I think this will backfire.
Dera SS was started in Baluchistan by Mastana, as a refuge he came to India and was able to get land in exchange in SIrsa. Those days Nehru was very generous with "Secular" types. D SS is a business enterprise, I don't think they pay tax.
In Punjab there are so many sects, fight over loot is the main reason. Class conflict is not a reason. 80% labor in Punjab is from outside.
Congress, I think, seems to be behind most of the problems India faced or still is facing today.
1962 war was lost because Nehru wanted to disband the army after independence (as he naively thought India did not need the army as it is a peaceful nation) and he also got carried away with 'Hindi-Chini bhai bhai' slogan and despite warnings not to trust Chinese, he neither initially paid any attention to such warnings not made any efforts to improve the army....results in 1962 were clear for all to see.
Again, dividing Indian states on linguistic lines was Congress partyâs idea...

Congress propped up a village granthi called Bhindrawala to counter Akalis and later this man turned into a monster...and that was the start of Khalistani movement, a movement which was also funded by some extremist Sikhs from UK, USA, Canada etc (of course as Khuswant Singh so aptly put it âThe only Khali (empty) sthan (place) was in the heads of the people demanding Khalisthan & it took a man like KPS Gill to put an end to this militancy problem in Punjab)...
Now the moment Akali Dal+BJP combine comes back to power in Punjab, again fingers are being raised at Congress party as people are accusing Congress of fanning the fires in Punjabâ¦
It is India that suffers time and again because of the stupid, short sighted policies of Congress (as once again they are opening a Pandoraâs box in Punjab as they did in the past)...
