It would be good to do a inconography of the concept of buraq the winged horse and how it differs from the Greek pegasus type. That would show the borrowings of Muhammed and again provide an insight into his mindset

AFP
AFP - Saturday, September 27 09:47 pm

<b>LONDON (AFP) - Police arrested three men on Saturday in connection with a fire at the offices of the publisher of a book about the Prophet Mohammed and his child bride.</b>

The men, aged 22, 30 and 40, were arrested in north London under anti-terrorism legislation after the fire on Saturday morning at Gibson Square's offices. Police were also searching four addresses in east London.

Britain's domestic Press Association news agency said some residents, whom it did not identify, reported that the incident may have involved a petrol bomb being pushed through the firm's letterbox.

Gibson Square is responsible for the publication of <b>"The Jewel of Medina" -- a fictional account of the Prophet's relationship with his youngest bride Aisha</b> -- by American author Sherry Jones.

Random House announced last month it had cancelled publication of the book in the United States because of fears of violence.

<b>"The Jewel of Medina" was re-released in Serbia earlier this month after being withdrawn in August under pressure from Islamic leaders.</b>

Martin Rynja, publishing director at Gibson Square, earlier this month defended the decision to publish the book, saying that in "an open society there has to be open access to literary works, regardless of fear."

"As an independent publishing company, we feel strongly that we should not be afraid of the consequences of debate," he added.

Gibson Square could not be immediately contacted for comment on Saturday's fire and subsequent arrests.

The firm is known for having published other controversial books such as "Blowing Up Russia" by former KGB agent turned Kremlin critic Alexander Litvinenko.

Litvinenko died in a London hospital in 2006 from radiation poisoning which it is thought he ingested through a cup of tea. Russia has refused to extradite lawmaker and ex-KGB agent Andrei Lugovoi to face charges in Britain.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin--><b>Publisher targeted in terror attack over book on prophet</b>
September 28, 2008, 4:13 pm

<b>Terrorism arrests in North London have been linked to plans to publish in New Zealand and Britain a controversial book on the prophet Muhammad, and his child bride.</b>

The arrests are connected to a fire at a property in Islington, north London, which is used as the home and office of Martin Rynja, a publisher whose company, Gibson Square, plans to publish in New Zealand the book The Jewel of Medina, The Telegraph reported.

The blaze may have been started by a petrol bomb pushed through the letterbox.

Initially, three men, aged 22, 30 and 40, were detained at around 2.25am. Two were stopped by armed officers in Lonsdale Square, and the third was seized when a car was stopped by armed police near Angel underground station. The men were arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism .

<b>A major publishing group, Random House US, announced in May this year that it was dropping its plans to publish the debut novel by American journalist Sherry Jones, of Spokane, Washington, following warnings that it could incite acts of violence from radical Muslims.

The Jewel of the Medina was also pulled from bookshops in Serbia last month after pressure from an Islamic group.</b>

Gibson Square, which has previously published other controversial books, bought the rights to Jones's book after Random House pulled out and plans to publish it in Britain and Australia as well as New Zealand . In the US, the book will be published by Beaufort Books.

Speaking before yesterday's attack, Mr Rynja said: "In an open society there has to be open access to literary works, regardless of fear. As an independent publishing company, we feel strongly that we should not be afraid of the consequences of debate.

"If a novel of quality and skill that casts light on a beautiful subject we know too little of in the West, but have a genuine interest in, cannot be published here, it would truly mean that the clock has been turned back to the dark ages. The Jewel of Medina has become an important barometer of our time."

Mr Rynja said that he hoped that once people read the novel in its entirety there would be a "healthy discussion" about its content.

<b>"(Jones has) done very careful and detailed research for the novel - she's writing about this love story which even after 1400 years we don't know much about."</b>
(So islamaniac's paedophilia is now a love story? Time to get a bucket.)

Mr Rynja was unavailable for comment yesterday.

Ms Jones, also speaking before yesterday's attack, said that her novel had was not intended to be disrespectful to Islam.

"I have deliberately and consciously written respectfully about Islam and Muhammad and I envisaged that my book would be a bridge-builder."

<b>Random House was told by security experts and academics that the novel, for which it paid a $US100,000 ($NZ146,000) advance, was potentially more incendiary than both The Satanic Verses and the Danish newspaper cartoons of Muhammad.</b>

The company decided not to publish the title "for the safety of the author, employees of Random House Inc, booksellers and anyone else who would be involved in distribution and sale of the book".

The publication of The Satanic Verses in 1988 saw attempts made on the lives of author Salman Rushdie's Italian and Norwegian publishers, while the Japanese translator of the book was killed.

The Jewel of Medina, about Aisha, child bride of the Prophet Muhammad, in seventh-century Arabia was destined to be a Book of the Month selection, and to also feature in the Quality Paperback Book Club.

But an associate professor at the University of Texas at Austin, Denise Spellberg, an expert in history and Middle Eastern studies, questioned the publishing plans.

<b>"Denise says it is `declaration of war ... explosive stuff ... a national security issue.' She thinks there is a very real possibility of major danger for the buildings and staff and widespread violence. Thinks it will be far more controversial than The Satanic Verses and the Danish cartoons ... thinks the book should be withdrawn ASAP," an editor at Knopf wrote in an e-mail that made the rounds at Random House.</b>

Questions were raised about the potential impact on Fonterra's dairy trade to Islamic nations in 2005 when New Zealand newspapers published the Danish cartoons which some critics of the cartoons described as Islamophobic or racist, and argued that they are blasphemous to people of the Muslim faith.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->So much for west's hawking freedom of speech. Was he influenced by South Indian temple imagery? The temple in Singapore also has such a figure if I recall.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->Oft-used motif in S Indian Hindu temples, almost as common as the must-be-present Yazhis (don't know Romanized spelling, but pronounced ~Yalees). (Yazhi style designs also used later in SE Asian and E Asian Bauddha temples.)

Other kinds of winged creatures I've also seen in latter-day Hindu designs of "Tanjore paintings". Barring "christians did it" stories peddled by the thomas-figment-worshippers, these Tanjore paintings are not any cherubic-influenced designs either, but appear to take their cue from older S Indian Hindu paintings and sculptures.

On the topic of angels, even if not on the topic of Hindu winged motifs, I don't know why christian kiddies in India aren't taught that angels are without exception male - this is what I distinctly recall learning in school in my bygone primary and high school days. Do christians in America and India not learn christian mythology, else why do they imagine there can be female angels? (I remember once seeing an Indian PETA advert featuring Mahima Choudhary dressed up as an angel. I can understand her not being aware of these facts as she's a Hindu. But the rest...)

From what I had to learn: angels in Judaism (and these ideas were stolen/carbon-copied by christianism) are all male, will-less servants of their God: this apparently applies to the entire hierarchy of angels from seraphim to cherubim and certainly all archangels - such as the likes of Gabriel, Raphael and of course "Who Is Greater Than God?" Michael. (IIRC that's the literal meaning of the name Michael - most archangels' names tend to be questions about the Judaic God). I never understood why christians - including the funny Indian variety - called their daughters Gabriela, Michaela,.... Rather an impossibilty.
Also all-male: the Nephilim, the weirdo offspring that would result from human women being assaulted - I kid you not, assault is the right word - by male angels. It's been a while; I think it's in the blabla's Revelations chapter, though I heard this scary nephilim stuff explained to me in NL high school by some classmates angry at christianism. Even christian mythology is not kind to their women.

Very funny these terrorists. Funnier still are the people who thereafter commented on the piece saying that "they don't speak for muslims"/"this is not real islam". Sure it isn't. Just do nothing for some decades and wait and see.

Published: 13 Sep 2008

A HATE fanatic has boasted that Muslims will one day conquer Britain — by having more BABIES.

Speaking at a rally marking 9/11, Anjem Choudary bragged that a birth explosion would let followers of Islam take control of the country.

Undercover Sun investigators secretly recorded Choudary telling a young and impressionable audience that they would eventually rule under strict Sharia law.

And our team listened in chilled silence as he predicted: “Islam is superior and will never be surpassed. The flag of Islam will rise over Downing Street.”

Video captions:

Hate fanatic wants to 'conquer' Britain

Lawyer Choudary also said it would be easy for vast numbers of Muslims to declare Jihad, or holy war, against Britain — and that every one of them could become “a time bomb waiting to go off”.

The Sun team watched vile Choudary, the right-hand man of exiled preacher of hate Omar Bakri, ranting to 100 young Muslims at a meeting in East London.

The mob bayed and cheered as he said: “About 500 people in Britain become Muslim every day.

“The Home Office say there are 1.5million Muslims but there were 1.5million ten years ago. Since then our brothers in Bethnal Green, Whitechapel and other places have had eight or nine children each. Eight children here, ten children, 15 children. There must be at least six million people.

“It may be by pure conversion that Britain will become an Islamic state. We may never need to conquer it from the outside.”

<b>Security</b>

The rally — advertised as a debate on whether the West had “learned the lessons” of 9/11 — was held amid strict security in a hall above a mosque in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton. Stewards on the door demanded ID from non-Muslims.

Inside the atmosphere was tense as dozens of young men in their teens or 20s packed chairs at the front while the few women present were ushered to the back. Choudary — whose family live on £25,000 a year in benefits — whipped them into a frenzy with a speech calling for Sharia law, under which criminals and adulterers are stoned or have limbs amputated.

He roared:<b> “We do not integrate into Christianity. We will ensure that one day you will integrate into the Sharia Islamic law.</b> Our eyes are on Downing Street.”

He went on: “That is why the British are so afraid. It would be easy for us to declare Jihad in Britain and each one of us could become a time-bomb waiting to go off. But we are not people who betray.”

Choudary, who once called for the Pope to be executed and said the 9/11 hijackers were “magnificent martyrs”, also claimed without a shred of evidence that 200 Muslim women were locked up in British jails.

Midway through the three-hour rally there was a break for prayers and food. The audience knelt on the floor and free chicken curry and bottles of water were handed out — but nobody ate or drank until a signal from chairman Abu Omar.

Another hate-filled speaker, Saiful Islam, praised terror chief Osama Bin Laden and al-Qaeda for their courage in retaliating against the West’s “oppression”.

He warned of a repeat of the 9/11 attacks in which more than 3,000 died in America, or another 7/7 suicide attack in London. He said: “The blame of 9/11 belongs to no one but the American government. They are the terrorists.

<b>Learned</b>

“Sheikh Osama warned America numerous times, it was because of their own arrogance, because they thought they are a superpower and nobody could match them, that Sheikh Osama taught them a lesson - a lesson they still haven’t learned.”

[image caption: Praying ... audience kneels after hearing Choudary speak]

Referring to Iraq and Afghanistan, he warned the US and Britain: “Wake up. Withdraw. Listen. All of us have a part to play in stopping the violence or the next 9/11 will take place in Britain, the next 7/7 could take place locally.”

The meeting was also addressed by law lecturer Abu Saalihah and there was a live webcam link to Omar Bakri at his Lebanon hideout.

Yesterday unrepentant Bakri said he could not understand what moderate Muslims have against Bin Laden.

He also dismissed 9/11 as “just an event” which was neither good nor bad but comparable to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Speaking from Beirut he said: “Osama Bin Laden is a legendary person for Muslims round the world.”

Last night the meeting was condemned by moderate Muslims.

Iqbal Sacranie, ex-Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Great Britain, said: “Such outrageous and irresponsible comments are nothing new from the likes of Omar Bakri and his lot. These people know they do not represent the views of the vast majority, if not the entire community, of Muslims in the UK.”

Last night Scotland Yard asked The Sun for a copy of our video showing Choudary and Islam’s rants.

The Counter-Terrorism Command will study the footage. Sources stressed they had not launched a formal inquiry but one said: “We want to see if any laws were breached.”<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->Via http://www.haindavakeralam.com/HKPage.aspx...eID=7114&SKIN=W

<b>Hindu-Muslim Family’s Choice of Cremation Arouses Anger </b><!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->But within hours of his death on Sept. 10 after a car accident, his memory — in fact, his very body — had become the object of a tug-of-war over religious freedom and obligation. It began when his mother, who was raised Hindu, and his father, who is Muslim, decided to have his body cremated in the Hindu tradition, rather than burying him in a shroud, as Islam prescribes.

His parents, Mina and Farhad Reja, say a small group of Muslims who do not understand their approach to religion are trying to intimidate them over the most private of family choices. “This is America,” Mrs. Reja said. <b>“This is a family decision.” </b>

.....................

<b>Mrs. Reja said she brought up her children by attending both Hindu temples and Muslim mosques. “Humanism is what I taught my children,” she said. “I want to see my son as a perfect human being, and not as a perfect religious person.”</b>
........................

<b>When word spread that the family would hold both Muslim and Hindu rites for their son and then have him cremated, the Rahmans and others were upset. Father and daughter both asked the family to give him a Muslim burial. They said the conversations were polite; the Rejas said they were hostile.

Several dozen people, including the imams of the Jamaica Muslim Center and other mosques, came to the funeral home in Richmond Hill on Sept. 12, to attend the Muslim rite and express objections to the cremation. The Rejas say people crowded around them to press their case as they wept beside their son’s body. “I was having my last moment with my son,” Mrs. Reja said. “What gave them the guts to do that?”

The funeral staff called the police in part because the Rejas feared the crowd would try to block the hearse going to the crematorium. Mishal Reja stood in the door of the funeral home, asked the group to leave the family in peace, and promised he would try to get the cremation canceled — just to get them to leave, he said. The crowd dispersed peacefully.</b>

Finally a real Muslim!! Finally!

I always thought: How could the Religion of Peace allow women to wear a veil that revealed *both* eyes? I mean, is there no honour and dignity left among the pious? I mean, this is the Religion of Peace we are talking about. Its women cannot be allowed to go around showing both eyes those indecent ones that belong to the Religion of Love do.

I salute Sheikh Muhammad al-Habadan for bringing clarity to an increasingly confused world! AllahuAkbar!

Saudi cleric favours one-eye veil

The two-eyed look remains too seductive for Sheikh Habadan

A Muslim cleric in Saudi Arabia has called on women to wear a full veil, or niqab, that reveals only one eye.

Sheikh Muhammad al-Habadan said showing both eyes encouraged women to use eye make-up to look seductive.

The question of how much of her face a woman should cover is a controversial topic in many Muslim societies.

The niqab is more common in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, but women in much of the Muslim Middle East wear a headscarf which covers only their hair.

Sheikh Habadan, an ultra-conservative cleric who is said to have wide influence among religious Saudis, was answering questions on the Muslim satellite channel al-Majd.

<b>Zealot takes a wife younger than daughter </b>
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/World/Z...how/3575332.cms

LONDON: Hate preacher Omar Bakri Mohammed has divorced his wife and taken a new bride who is a year younger than his pole dancer daughter. (Bismillah!!)

The tubby Muslim extremist dumped 48-year-old Hanah for a Lebanese beauty called Ruba, 26. Frustrated Bakri, 50, declared: "I must have a woman!" after Hanah — the mother of his six children — refused to stay with him in exile in Lebanon. (I weep tears of sympathy at you indignation, constrenation, and frustration, Brother Bakri!)

According to the Sun, Ruba has shacked up with Bakri and his ten-year-old son Bilal at his luxury home in a suburb of Beirut. A source in Lebanon said: "Omar's wife (Hanah) came out to stay with him after he was first kicked out of Britain but she couldn't cope. She complained that she had no freedom and couldn't go anywhere without her husband. (What a she-dog, by Allah!) In Britain she was able to go shopping with friends and family and wear make-up and nice clothes in private. But it was different in Beirut because Omar observed a much more conservative lifestyle. She did as he wished and never came back — and now he's got a younger model."

One of Bakri's main concerns at not having a wife was having no one to cook and clean for him and attend to his every need. Ruba was introduced to him a year ago as a potential bride and they married soon after. She obeys the self-styled sheik's every command and has become a stand-in mum to Bilal.

<b>France bans the burqa</b>
<b>Class rooms no place for orthodoxy</b><!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->A recent decision by Halde, the anti-discriminatory agency of France, demonstrates what the French think are limits to religious freedom in a secular society that is increasingly becoming multi-cultural. Halde has held it acceptable to ban burqas and niqabs worn by orthodox Muslim women in state-sponsored French language classes for immigrants. Under French law, such classes are sometimes required of those who apply for French residency or citizenship. <b>Complaints had been received by the agency that the presence of women dressed in such apparel interfered with the proper functioning of these classes. The agency then concluded that it was reasonable for public security and for the protection of civil liberties to ban the same from the publicly-funded language classrooms.</b> The decision was also based on practical considerations as it was found that language teachers were not able to impart phonetic instructions to their students without seeing their faces. However, Halde has also called the burqa a symbol of "female submission that goes beyond its religious meaning". This is, however, not to suggest that there is a blanket ban on the burqa in all of France. But clearly there are strong sentiments here against women who cover themselves from head to toe in public. This is, in part, a reflection of the tensions that French society faces as it tries to adapt to a changing population profile. France has been experiencing an influx of Muslim immigrants, both legal and illegal. Many of these people cling to orthodox practices and customs that are at odds with the French way of life. This has also been apparent in the occasional riots and ethnic clashes that the country has been witnessing of late.

<b>Secularism is what all societies should strive for, but there is a fine line between respecting others' beliefs and impinging on the same in the name of equality</b>. French President Nicholas Sarkozy had come to power on the promise of curbing illegal immigration. While trying to achieve that, he has been accused of implementing policies that impinge on a person's religious freedom. Previously, the decision to bar young Sikh children from wearing the turban in French public schools was met with considerable amount of condemnation from the Sikh community. Now this decision to ban the burqa in public language schools has the potential to trigger protests. Yet, it must be said that in a truly secular country, there must be a clear separation between faith and the state. <b>Since the ban applies to publicly funded classes, there is no reason why it should be found offensive. Sadly, our Government would baulk at the thought of doing something similar.</b>

<b>Geert Wilders: The problem is Islam itself</b>
Posted by jagoindia on October 20, 2008

Read the full rivetting speech by Wilders here Who lost Europe?

Our many problems with Islam cannot be explained by poverty, repression or the European colonial past, as the Left claims. Nor does it have anything to do with Palestinians or American troops in Iraq. The problem is Islam itself.

“Allow me to give you a brief Islam 101. The first thing you need to know about Islam is the importance of the book of the Quran. The Quran is Allah’s personal word, revealed by an angel to Mohammed, the prophet. This is where the trouble starts. Every word in the Quran is Allah’s word and therefore not open to discussion or interpretation. It is valid for every Muslim and for all times. Therefore, there is no such a thing as moderate Islam. Sure, there are a lot of moderate Muslims. But a moderate Islam is non-existent.

“The Quran calls for hatred, violence, submission, murder, and terrorism. The Quran calls for Muslims to kill non-Muslims, to terrorize non-Muslims and to fulfil their duty to wage war: violent jihad. Jihad is a duty for every Muslim, Islam is to rule the world — by the sword. The Quran is clearly anti-Semitic, describing Jews as monkeys and pigs.

“The second thing you need to know is the importance of Mohammed the prophet. His behaviour is an example to all Muslims and cannot be criticized. Now, if Mohammed had been a man of peace, let us say like Ghandi and Mother Theresa wrapped in one, there would be no problem. But Mohammed was a warlord, a mass murderer, a pedophile, and had several marriages — at the same time. Islamic tradition tells us how he fought in battles, how he had his enemies murdered and even had prisoners of war executed. Mohammed himself slaughtered the Jewish tribe of Banu Qurayza. He advised on matters of slavery, but never advised to liberate slaves. Islam has no other morality than the advancement of Islam. If it is good for Islam, it is good. If it is bad for Islam, it is bad. There is no gray area or other side.

“Quran as Allah’s own word and Mohammed as the perfect man are the two most important facets of Islam. Let no one fool you about Islam being a religion. Sure, it has a god, and a here-after, and 72 virgins. But in its essence Islam is a political ideology. It is a system that lays down detailed rules for society and the life of every person. Islam wants to dictate every aspect of life. Islam means ’submission’. Islam is not compatible with freedom and democracy, because what it strives for is sharia. If you want to compare Islam to anything, compare it to communism or national-socialism, these are all totalitarian ideologies.

“This is what you need to know about Islam, in order to understand what is going on in Europe. For millions of Muslims the Quran and the live of Mohammed are not 14 centuries old, but are an everyday reality, an ideal, that guide every aspect of their lives. Now you know why Winston Churchill called Islam “the most retrograde force in the world”, and why he compared Mein Kampf to the Quran.”

Clerics meet in Azamgarh, put MPs on notice
http://www.hindustantimes.com/StoryPage/Pr...01-a0aac611e8b4

Muslim clerics on Monday held a conclave in Azamgarh district on the arrests and killing of community youth by police in connection with the recent serial blasts, sending the political parties into a frenzy.

The Ulema Council organised ‘Ajimoshaan Ehtazazi Ijlaas-e-Aam’, a gathering of clerics from across the country, who resolved to teach a lesson to those who are now calling Azamgarh ‘Atankgarh’ in the wake of the arrests and killing of several young men from the dictrict by the police, in connection with the recent blasts.

In a blow to parties who went to the homes of Muslim families in Sanjarpur village whose sons had either been killed or arrested, the clerics cautioned the three MPs connected to Azamgarh — Akbar Ahmad ‘Dumpy’ (BSP MP from Azamgarh), Iliyas Azmi (BSP MP from Shahbad) and Abu Azmi (Rajya Sabha member from the SP) — and said they would not be allowed entry if they failed to get their message of outrage across to Parliament.

The clerics also decided to lodge 250 cases against BJP MP from Azamgarh Yogi Adityanath, accusing him of turning the district into a cauldron of communal violence.

The main speaker at the conclave, Abdul Wahab, maintained Muslims have nothing to do with terrorism. “They are equal partners in the country and those who treat them as tennants should check themselves as early as possible.”

Muslim Political Council, Delhi, chief Dr Taslim Rehmani went to the extent of equating Nathuram Godse and Sardar Patel to terrorists. “The first terrorist of independent India was Nathuram Godse, while Sardar Patel was the second,” he reportedly said.

Mufti Abdul Kalam claimed that it was at the behest of Israel that atrocities were being perpetrated against Muslims in the country.

The gathering — where a crowd of more than 15,000 had assembled — was attended by over 100 Muslim clerics.

Blaming ruling parties at the Centre and in UP for the arrests and killings, the speakers criticised Chief Minister Mayawati and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for indifference towards Muslims.

The clerics also decided to actively guide the community in getting its own public representatives, who don’t have affiliations to any party.

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->LETTERS TO THE EDITOR, The Statesman

Why hasn't Lakshmanpur incident stirred us?

Sir, ~ The report "Jail custody for top cops" (1 October) for abetment of suicide of Rizwanur Rahman brings to mind the remarkable quote of Lord Denning: "Be you ever so high, the law is above you."

The 14th metropolitan magistrate, Bankshall Court, has underpinned this very concept once again in no uncertain terms in her judgment and upheld the ideal of equity and justice true to the spirit of the Constitution.

The verdict also marks the victory of vox populi expressed in many roadblocks, silent processions with candlelights, in prayers at places of worship and in spontaneous condemnation by intellectuals. The outcry was so intense that even the chief minister had to bow to the popular pressure and visit the house of the victim and come out with the promise that "justice will be done".

The media too played a very vital and admirable role in keeping the issue alive and providing feedback with all developments in the case. It is a wonderful case study of the public standing up to interference by government officials in the private life of a common citizen.

While the media and the public were thus in the thick of the fight against injustice done to Rizwanur Rahman, another unsuspecting young man away from the glare of media hype fell a victim to the crude "justice" meted out by a "kangaroo court" in Lakshmanpur village in Murshidabad district in July this year.

The offense of the youth was that he, like Rizwanur, belonging to a different religion, had married a Muslim girl for love while both of them were in Mumbai. The Muslim girl knew the religious background of her groom, but the fact was concealed from her relations for fear of disapproval or worse. But the truth popped up at an inconvenient and unguarded moment during their sojourn in Lakshmanpur. The man was arraigned before a shalishi sabha which found him guilty of marrying a Muslim girl concealing his religion and passed the verdict of beheading which was allegedly carried out by some local youths. Their marriage, it may be noted, was duly registered and the couple had a 10-month-old baby.
Alas! Excepting a few reports in the press immediately after the revelation of the crime, things remained under the wraps. No angry procession came out on the road condemning the episode. No candlelight procession was for him, no chief minister went to console the family, no political party made the case a focal point of publicity and people did not throng the prayer halls for the peace of the departed soul.

The FIR filed by the widow in the local police station probably is now yellowing in the file outside the ken of the IB or the CBI.

A doubt gnaws at the heart ~ whether all the displays of sympathy in the media and on the streets of Kolkata for Rizwanur we have seen for months together, were at all genuine or politicised stunts or just ersatz show-biz. If the people would be so compassionate and concerned about Rizwanur, why are they silent in the matter of the Lakshmanpur incident?

In this case, the media raised no ripple anywhere, no picture of the hapless man was splashed on the pages of newspapers, no political leader has come out with any statement, not to speak of condolence message sent to the bereaved family. One wonders if our sympathy is ethnicity or religion-specific. If in Rizwanur's case police were instrumental for the death, in the Lakshmanpur incident a group of village elders arrogated to themselves the authority to hold the man guilty flouting all the tenets of law and went, not to abet any suicide, but allegedly to get him decapitated in the most inhuman manner.

The media, human rights groups and the people of West Bengal found always to be vociferous against even dimly perceived injustices, cannot disown their obligation in this case. The guilty must be brought to book or else the rule of law will lose its meaning and relevance.

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->I keep telling everyone including and especially my superiors in my party and the RSS, so far without any success, that the media in India are the worst and the most dangerous promoters of pseudo-secularism, and concealers of Islamic misdeeds. And this is not by accident. Petrodollars from Saudi and Kuwait and Narcodollars from Pakistan flow in to motivate scribes and media owners alike. In support of this I quote what Mitrokhin had said in his archives : in the early 1970s the KGB had planted some 15,000 articles all over Indian media (at that time it was only print media) to prop up Indira Gandhi's electoral prospects. What the KGB had done the Islamic Development Bank of Jeddah can do just as well, possibly better. The Commies in West Bengal have no less than three news Bengali channels and three newspapers supporting them to different extents. They are not fools! they would not be spending all this money without getting returns! We need to combat these, we need to combat vicious women like Teesta Setalvad, Mamata Banerjee and Arundhati Roy. I keep shouting this all over the place, and nobody pays any attention. Very soon I will be dubbed an eccentric. We need to have a media management policy, and our own media. Will someone wake up before we turn into Dar-ul-Islam?

TSP radio reaches India - tells islamaniacs to publicly behead Indians. You know - the same thing that islamaniacs are doing to the Bauddhas of Thailand; what islam always did to kaffirs.

NOWSHERA (Rajouri): “As salam aleikum,’’ an elderly Qasi Afzal Masood greets this correspondent and leads him into his hut in Nowshera village close to the Line of Control (LoC).

A small-time farmer, Qasi has no means of entertainment in his dingy hut except a radio which he says has been his prized possession for years now.

So what does he listen to on the radio? ‘‘Sometimes news and otherwise Hindustani songs,’’ he says with a smile.

But what he says next, rather casually, comes as a surprise: ‘‘One can also tune in to Pakistani radio programmes as their signals reach our village. Many other villages also listen in.’’

While the Army and police machinery are already worried about signals of Pakistani mobile service providers reaching the Indian side, Pakistani radio programmes have become yet another cause of concern. Had these only to do with songs and other entertainment it would have been a different matter. But some programmes talk of Kashmir’s ‘‘aazadi’’ and how blood should be spilt in all cities in India.

Qazi, 55, who has seen militancy grow all these years in Nowshera, considered to be a stronghold of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), tunes in his radio to the frequency 102 MHz. After a few minutes of static, on comes ‘‘Voice of Kashmir’’, a programme on Pakistani radio. A few advertisements follow (about soaps and washing powder) and then begins a 30-minute programme aimed at the Kashmiris in India.

‘‘Hamare Kashmiri bhaiyon ko <b>Allah</b>-tallah ka hukum hae ki Hindustaniyon ka qatal karo, sare aam unki gardane kato. Hindustani hukumat ko bata do ki unki koshishen humko juda karne ki kabhi kamayab nahi hogi. Kashmir hamara hai or rahega....’’ (Our Kashmiri brothers, <b>the Almighty desires the public beheading of Indians.</b> Show the Indian Government that its ‘‘efforts’’ to keep us separate will never succeed.)

After 30 minutes of such incendiary exhortation, the speaker winds up with: ‘‘Kashmir zindabad, Allah hafiz.’’

‘‘These people provoke us to pick up arms but I can tell you that most of us want to remain with India. We too are keeping track of what is going on in Pakistan,’’ says Qazi, who has witnessed fierce gun battles in his village, the most recent being the killing of two top HM members who were trying to infiltrate into India. But it is not only 102 MHz that is spreading the anti-India propaganda, another such frequency — 106 MHz — too has the same agenda. Star Radio has also taken up a ‘‘Hate India’’ campaign.

Asked how the radio signals are being picked up in India and what they plan to do about it, police officials say they are helpless. ‘‘Earlier, the Pakistani mobile phone towers and radio towers used to be far from the LoC. Of late, they have brought them much closer to the LoC and now all signals reach Indian villages,’’ a police official said, adding that most of the content on the 15-hour radio broadcasts was anti-India.

According to him, 60 per cent of the residents of Rajouri, Poonch, Nowshera, Deragali listen to the highly provocative speeches. ‘‘This issue has to be addressed by the higher-ups in New Delhi. We cannot do much except for monitoring the programmes,’’ he remarked.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->Anyone else relieved they said behead *Indians* and not just behead Hindus? Phew, they're secular - because that's the most important thing, as our psecular christomedia and govt will agree. Now Indian media can relay the broadcast with a peaceful mind.

<b>geert wilders: Who lost Europe to Islam?</b>
oct 19th, 2008

what nehruism has already wrought in india is the future of europe, as wilders describes it graphically and vividly.

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: N.

Please read this Brilliant speecch of Dutch M.P.

In this Speech if you replace the word Europe with India, it would read like one meant for us.

"In a generation or two, the US will ask itself: who lost Europe?"

Here is the speech of Geert Wilders, a Dutch Parliamentarian and chairman of the Party for Freedom, the Netherlands, at the Four Seasons, New York,
introducing an Alliance of Patriots and announcing the Facing Jihad
Conference in Jerusalem

The speech was sponsored by the Hudson Institute on September 25.

Dear friends,

Thank you very much for inviting me. Great to be at the Four Seasons. I come from a country that has one season only: a rainy season that starts January  1st and ends December 31st. When we have three sunny days in a row, the government declares a national emergency. So Four Seasons, that's new to me.

It's great to be in New York. When I see the skyscrapers and office
buildings, I think of what Ayn Rand said: "The sky over New York and the will of man made visible." Of course. Without the Dutch you would have been nowhere, still figuring out how to buy this island from the Indians. But we are glad we did it for you. And, frankly, you did a far better job than we possibly could have done.

I come to America with a mission. All is not well in the old world. There is a tremendous danger looming, and it is very difficult to be optimistic. We might be in the final stages of the Islamization of Europe. This not only is
a clear and present danger to the future of Europe itself, it is a threat to America and the sheer survival of the West. The danger I see looming is the scenario of America as  the last man standing. The United States as the last bastion of Western civilization, facing an Islamic Europe. In a generation or two, the US will ask itself: who lost Europe? Patriots from around Europe
risk their lives every day to prevent precisely this scenario form becoming a reality.

My short lecture consists of 4 parts.

First I will describe the situation on the ground in Europe. Then, I will say a few things about Islam. Thirdly, if you are still here, I will talk a little bit about the movie you just saw. To close I will tell you about a meeting in Jerusalem.

The Europe you know is changing. You have probably seen the landmarks. The Eiffel Tower and Trafalgar Square and Rome's ancient buildings and maybe the canals of Amsterdam. They are still there. And they still look very much the same as they did a hundred years ago.

But in all of these cities, sometimes a few blocks away from your tourist destination, there is another world, a world very few visitors see - and one that does not appear in your tourist guidebook. It is the world of the
parallel society created by Muslim mass-migration. All throughout Europe a new reality is rising: entire Muslim neighbourhoods where very few indigenous people reside or are even seen. And if they are, they might
regret it. This goes for the police as well. It's the world of head scarves, where women walk around in figureless tents, with baby strollers and a group of children. Their husbands, or slaveholders if you prefer, walk three steps ahead. With mosques on many street corner. The shops have signs you and I cannot read. You will be hard-pressed to find any economic activity. These
are Muslim ghettos controlled by religious fanatics. These are Muslim
neighbourhoods, and they are mushrooming in every city across Europe.
These are the building-blocks for territorial control of increasingly larger
portions of Europe, street by street, neighbourhood by neighbourhood, city
by city.

There are now thousands of mosques throughout Europe. With larger congregations than there are in churches. And in every European city there are plans to build super-mosques that will dwarf every church in the region.

Clearly, the signal is: we rule.

Many European cities are already one-quarter Muslim: just take Amsterdam, Marseille and Malmo in Sweden. In many cities the majority of the under-18 population is Muslim. Paris is now surrounded by a ring of Muslim
neighbourhoods. Mohammed is the most popular name among boys in many cities.

In some elementary schools in Amsterdam the farm can no longer be mentioned, because that would also mean mentioning the pig, and that would be an insult
to Muslims. Many state schools in Belgium and Denmark only serve halal food to all pupils. In once-tolerant Amsterdam gays are beaten up almost exclusively by Muslims. Non-Muslim women routinely hear "whore, whore".
Satellite dishes are not pointed to local TV stations, but to stations in
the country of origin. In France school teachers are advised to avoid
authors deemed offensive to Muslims, including Voltaire and Diderot; the
same is increasingly true of Darwin. The history of the Holocaust can in many cases no longer be taught because of Muslim sensitivity. In England sharia courts are now officially part of the British legal system. Many
neighbourhoods in France are no-go areas for women without head scarves.  Last week a man almost died after being beaten up by Muslims in Brussels, because he was drinking during the Ramadan. Jews are fleeing France in
record numbers, on the run for the worst wave of anti-Semitism since World War II. French is now commonly spoken on the streets of Tel Aviv and Netanya, Israel. I could go on forever with stories like this. Stories about
Islamization.

A total of fifty-four million Muslims now live in Europe. San Diego
University recently calculated that a staggering 25 percent of the
population in Europe will be Muslim just 12 years from now. [Sic: This is higher than the Muslim population of India!]

Bernhard Lewis has predicted a Muslim majority by the end of this century.

Now these are just numbers. And the numbers would not be threatening if the
Muslim-immigrants had a strong desire to assimilate. But there are few signs
of that. The Pew Research Center reported that half of French Muslims see their loyalty to Islam as greater than their loyalty to France. One-third of
French Muslims do not object to suicide attacks. The British Centre for Social Cohesion reported that one-third of British Muslim students are in favour of a worldwide caliphate. A Dutch study reported that half of Dutch Muslims admit they "understand" the 9/11 attacks.

Muslims demand what they call 'respect'. And this is how we give them
respect. Our elites are willing to give in. To give up. In my own country we have gone from calls by one cabinet member to turn Muslim holidays into official state holidays, to statements by another cabinet member, that Islam is part of Dutch culture, to an affirmation by the Christian-Democratic attorney general that he is willing to accept sharia in the Netherlands if there is a Muslim majority. We have cabinet members with passports from
Morocco and Turkey.

Muslim demands are supported by unlawful behaviour, ranging from petty
crimes and random violence, for example against ambulance workers and bus drivers, to small-scale riots. Paris has seen its uprising in the low-income suburbs, the banlieus. Some prefer to see these as isolated incidents, but I call it a Muslim intifada. I call the perpetrators "settlers". Because that is what they are. They do not come to integrate into our societies, they come to integrate our society into their Dar-al-Islam. Therefore, they are settlers. [Sic: Or invaders. NSR]

Much of this street violence I mentioned is directed exclusively against non-Muslims, forcing many native people to leave their neighbourhoods, their cities, their countries.

Politicians shy away from taking a stand against this creeping sharia.
They believe in the equality of all cultures. Moreover, on a mundane level, Muslims are now a swing vote not to be ignored.

Our many problems with Islam cannot be explained by poverty, repression or the European colonial past, as the Left claims. Nor does it have anything to go with Palestinians or American troops in Iraq. The problem is Islam itself.

Allow me to give you a brief Islam 101. The first thing you need to know
about Islam is the importance of the book of the Quran. The Quran is Allah's
personal word, revealed by an angel to Mohammed, the prophet. This is where the trouble starts. Every word in the Quran is Allah's word and therefore not open to discussion or interpretation. It is valid for every Muslim and for all times. Therefore, there is no such a thing as moderate Islam.  Sure, there are a lot of moderate Muslims. But a moderate Islam is non-existent.

The Quran calls for hatred, violence, submission, murder, and terrorism.  The Quran calls for Muslims to kill non-Muslims, to terrorize non-Muslims and to fulfil their duty to wage war: violent jihad. Jihad is a duty for every Muslim, Islam is to rule the world - by the sword. The Quran is clearly anti-Semitic, describing Jews as monkeys and pigs.

The second thing you need to know is the importance of Mohammed the prophet.

His behaviour is an example to all Muslims and cannot be criticized. Now, if Mohammed had been a man of peace, let us say like Ghandi and Mother Theresa wrapped in one, there would be no problem. But Mohammed was a warlord, a mass murderer, a pedophile, and had several marriages - at the same time.  Islamic tradition tells us how he fought in battles, how he had his enemies murdered and even had prisoners of war executed. Mohammed himself slaughtered the Jewish tribe of Banu Qurayza. He advised on matters of
slavery, but never advised to liberate slaves. Islam has no other morality than the advancement of Islam. If it is good for Islam, it is good. If it is bad for Islam, it is bad. There is no gray area or other side.

Quran as Allah's own word and Mohammed as the perfect man are the two most important facets of Islam. Let no one fool you about Islam being a religion.

Sure, it has a god, and a here-after, and 72 virgins. But in its essence Islam is a political ideology. It is a system that lays down detailed rules for society and the life of every person. Islam wants to dictate every aspect of life. Islam means 'submission'. Islam is not compatible with freedom and democracy, because what it strives for is sharia. If you want to compare Islam to anything, compare it to communism or national-socialism, these are all totalitarian ideologies.

This is what you need to  know about Islam, in order to understand what is going on in Europe. For millions of Muslims the Quran and the life of Mohammed are not 14 centuries old, but are an everyday reality, an ideal, that guide every aspect of their lives. Now you know why Winston Churchill
called Islam "the most retrograde force in the world", and why he compared Mein Kampf to the Quran.

Which brings me to my movie, Fitna.

I am a lawmaker, and not a movie maker. But I felt I had the moral duty to educate about Islam. The duty to make clear that the Quran stands at the heart of what some people call terrorism but is in reality jihad. I wanted
to show that the problems of Islam are at the core of Islam, and do not belong to its fringes.

Now, from the day the plan for my movie was made public, it caused quite a stir, in the Netherlands and throughout Europe. First, there was a political storm, with government leaders, across the continent in sheer panic. The Netherlands was put under a heightened terror alert, because of possible attacks or a revolt by our Muslim population. The Dutch branch of the Islamic organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir declared that the Netherlands was due for an attack. Internationally, there was a series of incidents. The Taliban threatened to organize additional attacks against Dutch troops in Afghanistan, and a website linked to Al Qaeda published the message that I ought to be killed, while various muftis in the Middle East stated that I would be responsible for all the bloodshed after the screening of the movie.

In Afghanistan and Pakistan the Dutch flag was burned on several occasions.  Dolls representing me were also burned. The Indonesian President announced that I will never be admitted into Indonesia again, while the UN Secretary General and the European Union issued cowardly statements in the same vein
as those made by the Dutch Government. I could go on and on. It was an absolute disgrace, a sell-out.

A plethora of legal troubles also followed, and have not ended yet. Currently the state of Jordan is litigating against me. Only last week there were renewed security agency reports about a heightened terror alert for the
Netherlands because of Fitna.

Now, I would like to say a few things about Israel. Because, very soon, we will get together in its capitol. The best way for a politician in Europe to loose votes is to say something positive about Israel. The public has
wholeheartedly accepted the Palestinian narrative, and sees Israel as the
aggressor. I, however, will continue to speak up for Israel. I see defending Israel as a matter of principle. I have lived in this country and visited it dozens of times. I support Israel. First, because it is the Jewish homeland
after two thousand years of exile up to and including Auschwitz, second because it is a democracy, and third because Israel is our first line of defense.

Samuel Huntington writes it so aptly: "Islam has bloody borders". Israel is located precisely on that border. This tiny country is situated on the fault line of jihad, frustrating Islam's territorial advance. Israel is facing the front lines of jihad, like Kashmir, Kosovo, the Philippines, Southern Thailand, Darfur in Sudan, Lebanon, and Aceh in Indonesia. Israel is simply in the way. The same way West-Berlin was during the Cold War.

The war against Israel is not a war against Israel. It is a war against the West. It is jihad. Israel is simply receiving the blows that are meant for all of us. If there would have been no Israel, Islamic imperialism would
have found other venues to release its energy and its desire for conquest.  Thanks to Israeli parents who send their children to the army and lay awake at night, parents in Europe and America can sleep well and dream, unaware of the dangers looming.

Many in Europe argue in favor of abandoning Israel in order to address the grievances of our Muslim minorities. But if Israel were, God forbid, to go
down, it would not bring any solace to the West. It would not mean our
Muslim minorities would all of a sudden change their behavior, and accept
our values. On the contrary, the end of Israel would give enormous encouragement to the forces of Islam. They would, and rightly so, see the demise of Israel as proof that the West is weak, and doomed. The end of
Israel would not mean the end of our problems with Islam, but only the beginning. It would mean the start of the final battle for world domination.

If they can get Israel, they can get everything. Therefore, it is not that
the West has a stake in Israel. It is Israel.

It is very difficult to be an optimist in the face of the growing
Islamization of Europe. All the tides are against us. On all fronts we are
losing. Demographically the momentum is with Islam. Muslim immigration is even a source of pride within ruling liberal parties. Academia, the arts, the media, trade unions, the churches, the business world, the entire
political establishment have all converted to the suicidal theory of multiculturalism. So-called journalists volunteer to label any and all critics of Islamization as a 'right-wing extremists' or 'racists'. The entire establishment has sided with our enemy. Leftists, liberals and Christian-Democrats are now all in bed with Islam.

This is the most painful thing to see: the betrayal by our elites. At this moment in Europe's history, our elites are supposed to lead us. To stand up for centuries of civilization. To defend our heritage. To honour our eternal Judeo-Christian values that made Europe what it is today. But there are very few signs of hope to be seen at the governmental level. Sarkozy, Merkel, Brown, Berlusconi; in private, they probably know how grave the situation is. But when the little red light goes on, they stare into the camera and tell us that Islam is a religion of peace, and we should all try to get along nicely and sing Kumbaya. They willingly participate in, what President Reagan so aptly called: "the betrayal of our past, the squandering of our freedom."

If there is hope in Europe, it comes from the people, not from the elites.  Change can only come from a grass-roots level. It has to come from the citizens themselves. Yet these patriots will have to take on the entire
political, legal and media establishment. [Sic: Exactly as in India. They are the fifth column of Islam. NSR]

Over the past years there have been some small, but encouraging, signs of a rebirth of the original European spirit. Maybe the elites turn their backs on freedom, the public does not. In my country, the Netherlands, 60 percent of the population now sees the mass immigration of Muslims as the number one policy mistake since World War II. And another 60 percent sees Islam as the
biggest threat to our national identity. I don't think the public opinion in Holland is very different from other European countries.

Patriotic parties that oppose jihad are growing, against all odds. My own party debuted two years ago, with five percent of the vote. Now it stands at ten percent in the polls. The same is true of all similarly-minded parties
in Europe. They are fighting the liberal establishment, and are gaining footholds on the political arena, one voter at the time.

Now, for the first time, these patriotic parties will come together and exchange experiences. It may be the start of something big. Something that might change the map of Europe for decades to come. It might also be Europe's last chance.

This December a conference will take place in Jerusalem. Thanks to Professor Aryeh Eldad, a member of Knesset, we will be able to watch Fitna in the Knesset building and discuss the jihad. We are organizing this event in Israel to emphasize the fact that we are all in the same boat together, and that Israel is part of our common heritage. Those attending will be a select audience. No racist organizations will be allowed. And we will only admit parties that are solidly democratic.

This conference will be the start of an Alliance of European patriots. This Alliance will serve as the backbone for all organizations and political
parties that oppose jihad and Islamization. For this Alliance I seek your
support.

This endeavor may be crucial to America and to the West. America may hold fast to the dream that, thanks to its location, it is safe from jihad and shaira. But seven years ago to the day, there was still smoke rising from ground zero, following the attacks that forever shattered that dream. Yet
there is a danger even greater danger than terrorist attacks, the scenario of America as the last man standing. The lights may go out in Europe faster than you can imagine. An Islamic Europe means a Europe without freedom and democracy, an economic wasteland, an intellectual nightmare, and a loss of military might for America - as its allies will turn into enemies, enemies with atomic bombs. With an Islamic Europe, it would be up to America alone to preserve the heritage of Rome, Athens and Jerusalem.

Dear friends, liberty is the most precious of gifts. My generation never had to fight for this freedom, it was offered to us on a silver platter, by people who fought for it with their lives. All throughout Europe American
cemeteries remind us of the young boys who never made it home, and whose memory we cherish. My generation does not own this freedom; we are merely
its custodians. We can only hand over this hard won liberty to Europe's children in the same state in which it was offered to us. We cannot strike a deal with mullahs and imams. Future generations would never forgive us. We cannot squander our liberties. We simply do not have the right to do so.

This is not the first time our civilization is under threat. We have seen dangers before. We have been betrayed by our elites before. They have sided with our enemies before. And yet, then, freedom prevailed.

These are not times in which to take lessons from appeasement, capitulation, giving away, giving up or giving in. These are not times in which to draw lessons from Mr. Chamberlain. These are times calling us to draw lessons
from Mr. Churchill and the words he spoke in 1942:

"Never give in, never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense.  Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy".<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
