GFA missionaries arrested at Ardh Kumbh
January 23, 2007
Allahabad: Police arrested six Gospel for Asia missionaries for tresspassing at Ardh Kumbh festival. Scores of Gospel for Asia leaders and missionaries camped at the Ardh Kumbh location to "offer the pilgrims an alternative to the traditional rituals by introducing them to Jesus".

Some piligrims got into an argument with some missionaries who were denigrating Hindu gods. Police sensed trouble and asked missionaries to leave the place as it is against law to deinigrate other religions. The women's team retreated while the men's team was belligerent. Police arrested the leaders and released them a day after. The missionaries claimed that they had talked about Christianity to over 200,000 pilgrims.

Just had a lightbulb moment - probably a dim one, but hey, it's a lightbulb!

(1) During every major Hindu festival or Kumbh, we know the losers will turn up to bother us and missionize.

(2) Gospel for Asia people are the 'native missionaries' that the western missions keep bragging about. These 'native missionaries' infiltrate into non-christian regions and basically go under cover in those places where the western missionaries stick out like a sore thumb or places where proselytisation is banned.

(3) Therefore, this is the perfect time to get the reconverting organisations of Hinduism together (VHP, Arya Samaj representatives). They should be present on all such occasions, and the Hindu pilgrims should be informed about them.
The reconverting organisations should keep an eye out on the confused Gospel for Asia people and approach them to inform them about Hinduism and dispell the lies about it that the missionaries fed to these converts.
Hindu pilgrims who are bothered by any GFA missionaries can help in pointing these troublesome converts out to the reconverting people as well.
One of two possibly good things might result:
(a) Gospel for Asia missionaries get annoyed by being presented with Hinduism and want to go home rather than hear about what they think is demonic. Mild taste of their own medicine, they'll learn what it's like to be on the receiving end (and we don't do 'witnessing', so actually their experience would be far better than what we get to hear from christos). Next time, if they know Hindu organisations are ready for them, they might not turn up to our special Hindu occasions!
(b) Gospel for Asia missionaries might reconvert.

Other option is that the usually intolerant christos will probably become hypocritically indignant and either fake persecution or start a riot (riots and christoviolence must be prevented at sacred occasion, but they already got pilgrims upset with insulting Hindu beliefs at our own Ardh Kumbh and other events, and disturbed the harmony that way).
Evangelism and Conversion Methods

QUOTEMissionaries employ various strategies to destroy other religions/cultures and convert people to their religion/denomination. The exact strategy deployed depends on the target population's situation. There are 7 categories of conversion methods: 1)Pre-evangelism 2)Personal Evangelism 3)Preaching Evangelism 4)Persuasion evangelism 5)Pastoral evangelism 6)Programmed evangelism 7)Prayer Evangelism. All the methods employed come under atleast one of these categories though many come under multiple categories. Here is the listing of the prominent methods employed.
Dont know if this belongs to the thread.

India Census 2001 - State wise Religious demography

Here is the state wise religious demography of India based on Official Government of India, Census Bureau estimates

Here is the Religious demography of India based on 2001 Census.

Note regarding Muslim population: The muslim population count is questionable as illegal Bangladeshi immigrants who are in crores are not counted. According to Justice K.M. Yusuf, a retired judge of the Calcutta High Court and Chairman of the West Bengal Minority Commission in an interview said the true percentage is between 20-25%. Here are the excerpts (published in The Hindu October 01, 1999 ).

(Rasheeda Bhagat: Interviewer)Would you agree with the point of view that the real percentage of the Muslim population in India is about 25 per cent?

(Justice Yusuf )There is no denial. It may be more. Anyway, it cannot be less than 20 per cent. It could be 25 per cent. I do not say like some others that it is 30 per cent. It is quite a substantial chunk.

Note regarding Christian population: The Christian population in India officially stands at 2.34% which everybody including Christians don't trust.. According to the Christian estimate collected by Joshua Project which is based on Church membership, Christians account for 6% of Indian population. Check the following link for religious demography based on Church estimates

Majority of Christians do not report their religion as Christianity for 2 reasons i.e., a) loss of caste based reservation benefits b)Church leaders do no want to raise alarm bells with sudden increase in numbers. Indian Christian leaders conveniently use Census data to portray minority status and pursue persecution strategy while using the church count data to show progress and request more funds from foreign donors.

Impact of Evangelism on Hindus WorldWide

Monday, 18 July 2005
How many Hindus are on the verge of Converting to Christianity? Do you know that Hindus in Christian nations (US, Trinidad, UK ..) are less likely to convert than Hindus in Traditional Hindu nations (India, Nepal, Mauritius..)? Do you know that Hindus in Guyana (count: 320000) are the least evangelised Hindu community in the world
Impact of evangelism on Hindus worldwide (2004 Statistics )

Hair raising Observations !

Do you know that Hindus in Christian nations (US, Trinidad, UK ..) are less likely to convert than Hindus in Traditional Hindu nations (India, Nepal, Mauritius..)

* Hindus in Guyana (count: 320000) are the least evangelised Hindu community in the world

* 78.5% of Malaysian Hindus will be converted in the next 5 years (Total Malaysian Hindus: 2344520)

* 11 countries may cease to have Hindu population by 2010 whereas 20 countries may cease to have any Hindu population by 2015.

* Majority of Hindus in Islamic countries convert to Christianity to protect themselves from Jihadi persecution. For ex. In Pakistan an attack on a Church killing raises international attention whereas an attack on a temple raises no place in the newspapers.

Evangelism of Hindus - worldwide (Total population: )
Evangelism Stages (ES)
1- Nascent (> 10 years)
2 - Formative ( convert in 5-10 years)
3 - Emerging ( convert in 2-5 years)
4 - Growing ( convert in <2 years)

QUOTEPost 236 again:
What was even more regrettable was Robertson's assertion of some connection between idol worship and the poverty in India. Robertson does not deny his son's claim that "Wherever you find this type of idolatry, you'll find a grinding poverty. The land has been cursed."

It's a pity that Pat Robertson never studied European history, or the history of his own ancestors who all came running to the New World ( America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, S. Africa, etc) from the christianized Old World (Europe), to escape the gruelling poverty of the Old World. Anyone who has read European history, or studied historical demography of Europe, or even the classic literature from 18th-19th century Europe, will understand the extent to which European society was plagued by extreme rampant poverty, terrible living conditions, and social divisions, which prompted the migration of millions of Europeans to the New Worlds in serch of better life. Yet, Europe was very much christian when poverty of an excruciating nature prevailed in Europe.

Even today in the US, parts of the country that are most christian are also the most poorest (e.g., Mississippi, Tennesse, Georgia, Louisiana, etc.). Not to mention the poverty in completely christianized Latin America. Or in the catholic Eastern Europe. Or the christianized Phillipines? The list of Christian poor countries is endless. It was the disassociation of church from state and the adoption of socialistic governments in many European countries that finally enabled these societies to escape from the vicious cycle of poverty. So, Pat Roberston can stop bullshitting, or at least stop thinking and hoping that people are going to buy this kind of bullshit from him.

This might be the strategy that foreign christian evangelists use in India and other countries to lure poor, vulnerable, and uneducated people to christianity, by giving them the false impression that Americans are wealthy because of christianity. This bubble of this myth needs to be burst.

This page refers to two books by Avro Manhatan that look at christianity's intimate involvement in the Vietnam war: 'The Vatican Holocaust', and 'Vietnam: Why did we go?' (Links to both these books are at the bottom of url)

Oh look, the section starts with a reminder of the christian charity for fellow man and christian love (love for armageddon, that is):
QUOTEThe Vietnam War was declared as a crusade by the American bishops. Those same bishops also declared, in the second Vaticanum, that one should use the atomic bomb(!) against Vietnam to defend the Catholism there (Deschner 1986).
