First of all Hindus don't worship cows, that's Christo fascist propaganda. There is a difference between respecting an animal and worshiping an animal. Hinduism of course believes in the supreme force being found in all living beings.
What's wrong with skinning and using products from a dead animal ?
Meat isn't eaten because it's Tamasic and is in the 3rd state of material nature, not just because of the Karma of killing.
Minimizing something is also a valid option as a pose to zero or full use.
Why is it in the West, Beef/Pork/Chicken are eaten but dog and cat meat are not (as in East Asia). Why is Horse meat banned from export from the U.S. ? Seems to me every society restricts eating of animals for various reasons.
Eat your meat, and let the vegetarians eat their vegetables. Why are so you bothered by other people's diets. All the Hindus I know do their own thing whether it's diet or sub-culture or unique form of worship and don't do the Abrahamic thing of imposing one culture on everyone.

Isn't it ironic that the religion that worships cows condones the exploitation of cows to produce milk? Milk is often produced by hooking cows up to milking machines for hours at a time, and it can be very painful to them. Cows are often fed hormones to boost milk production. And why do Indians wear clothes made with materials derived from cows?

NEW DELHI: A legislation that gives women, married or in live-in relationships, far reaching legal protection against abuse or "threat of abuse" comes into effect from Thursday.
The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005, cleared by the President on September 13 last year, will finally be enforced.
The Act had attracted some criticism for being open to "manipulationâ as it provides for wide-ranging powers to women.
But the law is primarily meant to provide protection to the wife or female live-in partner from violence at the hands of the husband or male partner or his relatives.
The ambit of the legislation has been widened to include persons who have "shared household and are related by consanguinity, marriage or a relationship in the nature of marriage, or adoption in addition to relationship with family members... Even those women who are sisters, widows, mothers, single women or living with the abuser are entitled to get legal protection".
Domestic violence under the Act includes actual abuse or the threat of abuse whether physical, sexual, verbal, emotional or economic, said a statement from the ministry of women and child development (WCD), which issued a notification on Wednesday to bring the act into force.
This also includes harassment by way of unlawful dowry demands to the woman or her relatives. WCD minister Renuka Chowdhury said, "The act will go a long way to provide relief to women from domestic violence and to get their due."
The ministry has simultaneously issued another notification laying down the rules framed for implementation of the act which will provide for, among other things, appointment of protection officers, service providers and counsellors.
Besides physical violence of beating, slapping, hitting, kicking and pushing, the act also covers sexual violence like forced intercourse, forcing a wife or mate to look at pornography or any other obscene pictures or material and child sexual abuse.
It also includes verbal and emotional violence such as name-calling and insults. Preventing one's wife from taking up a job or forcing her to leave a job are also under the purview of the act.
One of the most important features of the act is the woman's right to secure housing, the statement said, adding that it provides a right to reside in the matrimonial and shared household, whether or not she has any title in the household.
The act provides for breach of protection order or interim protection order by the respondent as a cognisable and non-bailable offence punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year or with fine which may extend to Rs 20,000 or both.
The other relief envisaged is that of the power of the court to pass protection orders that prevent the abuser from aiding or committing an act of domestic violence or any other specified act, entering a workplace or any other place frequented by the abused, attempting to communicate with the abused and isolating any assets used by both the parties.

I know one case where daughter-in-law is harassing mother-in-law and son can't do anything because law protects daughter-in-law. Mother-in-law was Govt School Principal in Delhi and married to top cop (died recently) and now bed ridden with Hip fracture and other injuries because of daughter-in-law's conduct. Her son is a executive in IT company and daughter is a Lecturer in Delhi Univ and married to VP of top 5 IT company in India. They can't do anything because law protects daughter-in-law.
Here law failed to differentiate between crime and extra privilege given to woman and exclusively to daughter-in-law.

"We know from other studies that brighter children tend to behave in a healthier fashion as adults -- they're less likely to smoke, less likely to be overweight, less likely to have high blood pressure and more likely to take strenuous exercise," Gale said. "This study provides further evidence that people with a higher IQ tend to have a healthier lifestyle."
In the study, Gale's team collected data on nearly 8,200 men and women aged 30, whose IQ had been tested when they were 10 years of age.
<b>"Children who scored higher on IQ tests at age 10 were more likely than those who got lower scores to report that they were vegetarian at the age of 30,"</b> Gale said.
The researchers found that 4.5 percent of participants were vegetarians. Of these, 2.5 percent were vegan, and 33.6 percent said they were vegetarian but also ate fish or chicken.
There was no difference in IQ score between strict vegetarians and those who said they were vegetarian but who said they ate fish or chicken, the researchers add.
Vegetarians were more likely to be female, of higher social class and better educated, but IQ was still a significant predictor of being vegetarian after adjustment for these factors, Gale said.
"Vegetarian diets are associated with lower cardiovascular disease risk in a number of studies, so these findings suggest that a such a diet may help to explain why children or adolescents with a higher IQ have a lower risk of coronary heart disease as adults," Gale said.
One expert said the findings aren't the whole answer, however.
"This study left many unanswered questions such as: Did the vegetarian children grow up in a household with a vegetarian parent? Were meatless meals regularly served in the household? Were the children eating a primarily vegetarian diet at the age of 10?" said Lona Sandon, an assistant professor of clinical nutrition at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.
"In addition, we don't know the beliefs or attitudes of the parents of the children, nor do we know if there was a particular event that led these children to becoming vegetarian in their teens or adulthood," Sandon said.
As the study showed, more women than men chose a vegetarian diet, Sandon noted. "Other research shows that women in general will focus more on their health than men. So, if they believe that a vegetarian diet will have health benefits, they are more likely to follow it," she said.
Given these factors, "we cannot draw any solid conclusions from this research," Sandon added.
Another expert agreed that a vegetarian diet is healthy.
<b>"The evidence linking vegetarianism to good health outcomes is very strong,"</b> said Dr. David L. Katz, the director of the Prevention Research Center and an associate professor of public health at the Yale University School of Medicine.

And the National Commission for Women (NCW) has shot down proposals for amending Section 497 so that women can be prosecuted for adultery.
The Commission had been asked by the Centre to review Section 497 which does not envisage prosecution of the wife by the husband for adultery.
The section provides expressly that the wife shall not be punishable even as an abettor, based on the reasoning that the wife, who is involved in an illicit relationship with another man, is a victim and not the author of the crime.
According to NCW sources, the Commission does not feel that by merely prescribing punishment for women by amending Section 497, the marriage can be protected or saved.
The NCW has forwarded its recommendations to the government, in which it has stated that considering the relatively socially disempowered position of women, the Commission suggests no amendments to Section 497 of IPC.
<b>The existing provision in the IPC is based on the mindset that the wife is a personal possession of the husband, who is the sole aggrieved person in an incident of adultery.</b>
It has told the government that as the wife already can take action against her husband under various other legal provisions, such as Section 498A of IPC, there is no reason that she should be debarred from initiating prosecution under Section 198 of CRPC.
The wife, in such cases, ought to be the person aggrieved and competent to file a complaint under Section 198.
In another important recommendation, the Commission has said adultery should be treated as a civil wrong and not a criminal offence.
It is of the view that there may be many instances where the woman wants to save the marriage and sees the adulterous relationship as an aberration.
The issue of adultery should be viewed as a breach of trust and be treated as a civil wrong rather than as a criminal offence.
The NCW has, however, said this should be done only after a national consensus is formed on the issue.

The man on the phone said he could identify some of the men who molested a woman on New Year's eve at the Gateway of India. Refusing to identify himself, "I have seen the men at Tardeo Chawl at Narayan Nagar in Ghatkopar (W)."
Armed with this information and the January 2 Mid Day edition which carried the exclusive pictures by our photographer Shadab Khan, I went to the Chawl last night and asked for information on the men. But not a single person was forthcoming with any information.
I went to the Ghatkopar police station and told PSI Pritam Tupe about the phone call and my visit to the Chawl. The police said he would look into the matter and at 12 am, PSI Mohan Singh Rajput and six cops went to the Chawl armed with our paper and conducted house-to-house searches.
At 4.15 am, they detained Rizwan Shaikh (18), ironically dressed in the same red T-shirt. Shaikh provided the leads to the four other men in the picture who were present during the incident.
Their names are <b>Chand Ali Shah, 17, Adil Shiakh, 22, Abid Shaikh, 17 and Tabrez Khan, 15.</b>
They were taken to the Ghatkopar police station and their statements were recorded.
Unfortunately, as a formal complaint has yet not been lodged by the Colaba police station, the men cannot be arrested.
"We cannot keep them in custody for long without a complaint. They can only be detained and not arrested at this point," said Rajput.
Yesterday, the Commissioner of Police, AN Roy said that no action can be initiated in a molestation case without the victim filing an FIR.
When DCP Zone 1, Brijesh Singh was asked about this, he said, "There is a possibility of the victim not coming forward, in that case we will have to find some other way to take them to task."
All the detainees plead innocence. Equally shocking is an attack on a tourist bus by Samajwadi Party workers on Thursday at Agra. The SP activists were protesting the execution of Saddam Hussein.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police has renewed investigations into the death of British tourist Stephen Bennett who was lynched by a mob of villagers when he allegedly tailed a woman at a remote area in Raigarh district, 210 km from Mumbai.
Deputy Inspector General of Maharashtra Police (Konkan Range) Satyapal Singh has said that the police were interrogating the woman, Nirmala Rane, once again to ascertain what exactly transpired between her and the British tourist before the Malasai villagers, including her husband and brother-in-law, beat him up.
"The murder took place on December 11 and not December 10, and those who killed the British national hanged the body on a tree in order to make it look like suicide," Singh said.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Raigarh, Madhukar Talpade told newspersons, apparently on the basis of a train ticket recovered from Bennett's pocket, that he boarded the Mandovi Express from Madgaon, Goa, on December 7, to travel up to Mumbai but got down at Roha on the way possibly to take a look at the villages in the Konkan area. "Seeing the foreigner, the woman, who had come out of her house to respond to nature's call early morning, went back and locked the door from inside," Talpade said.
"What was Stephen doing in the Konkan countryside for three days from December 7, including the intervening night of December 9 and 10 is not known, nor have the police clarified as to why they did not reveal the incident for so long a time. The renewed investigations will bring out all the facts," Singh said.
According to reports from London, Bennett, 40, a resident of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, was on a holiday in India and was due to return to Cheltenham before Christmas.
There are two versions as to the circumstances leading to the incident. One version is that the husband and relatives of a woman beat Bennette to death, using sticks, after he allegedly molested the woman near her house in the early hours of December 10.
The other version is that the woman in question, seeing the British national, raised an alarm, giving rise to suspicion among her husband and others present inside the house that Bennette had misbehaved with her.
Bennette's body has been sent to his relatives in the United Kingdom, through the British embassy. A divorcee, Bennette used to live alone at Cheltenham in UK, while ex-wife is bringing up his two children in some other place, a report from London said.
In the Gateway of India case, the Mumbai police on Thursday detained five youngsters for questioning in connection with the molestation of a woman tourist.
he police went ahead and made detentions from Ghatkopar in north-east Mumbai, even though no formal complaint had been lodged with them in connection with the incident. The police initiated the action, after taking suo moto cognisance of photographs and a brief report about the incident published in a city afternoon newspaper.
One Rizwan Shaiekh (21) was among the youngsters detained by the police. He is seen among a group of people surrounding the women in one of the published pictures taken by the tabloid photographer during the new year-eve revelry witnessed at the Gateway of India. It was Rizwan who led the police to four other youngsters.Â

Despite these very positive signs, it is a fact that more than 20 percent of our population lives below the poverty line, the infant mortality rate is amongst the highest in the world, and there is acute lack of nutrition particularly in the case of women and children, there is absolutely no medical care for the poor both in the urban areas and in the rural areas, the all India level of literacy is still at 65%.
Indiaâs real future lies on how much and within what time frame we can achieve in the sectors indicated above. We have to make judicious use of our outstanding success in the numerous other fields to ensure a speedy remedy to the various core problems indicated above that faces our nation.
I don't think it was ever noble. It's always been a cut-throat operation, literally.

Noble my arse, it was always for filling their minds with hate and letting them loose onto Hindus, even in medieval times the ulema was always cursing any emperor who deviated from killing Hindus, Ahmad Sirhindi the so called sufi hated Akbar for his preceived fair play towards the infidels and later instigated Jahangir to murder Guru Arjun.
It's naive to believe that mullahs use "clash of civilizations" (advocated by Samuel Huntington) to radicalise Muslims, Islam itself lays out this doctrine in the form of "clash between momins and kaffirs" till the kaffirs are killed off or converted, so mullahs don't need any 20th cent theories to preach hate, they already have a hate manual called the Quran for that.
In Lucknow these morons murdered 3 Hindus as soon as these animals got out of the mosques after friday prayers during the Bush protests, they were probably instructed by the mullah to go stab the nearest dirty Hindu kaffir since they have no balls to touch Bush.
