Mudy, That report is by a DDM rep. Take it with appropriate amount of salt. Mata Amritanandamayi had in the past clearly expressed her views regarding the Shankaracharya's arrest. She had expressed her support for Kanchi and hoped that this ordeal for Shankaracharya would pass off as a bad dream. She is not a person who changes her statements. Since the case is highly political, she perhaps doesn't want to comment any further on it. The reporter seems to be interpreting beyond what she said.

This quote shows how ill informed the know-all smug DDM could be.
Amma was not a 'school dropout'. She wanted to go to school, but her parents wouldn't let her. She was kept at home pretty much as a servant to do the household chores.
Amma was not a 'problem child' either. Her family could be called a 'problem family' on the other hand.
Seeing how this reporter has twisted around the facts, I wouldn't put too much faith in his interpretation of what Amma said about the Shankaracharya.
Off the bat, it struck me more likely from being kicked in the kidneys and developing an infected hematoma.
Infectious diseases are also possible, but in that case, why didn't they keep him, at least for quarantine purposes?

Rajapalayam: Detention of Kanchi Mutt manager Sundaresa Iyer and Raghu, brother of junior Sankaracharya Vijayendra Saraswathi, both accused in the Sankararaman murder case, under the Goondas Act appears to be a clear violation of a Tamil Nadu governmentâs recent directive on detentions under the stringent law.
The circular, issued in January to the district collectors and superintendents of police, asked them to ensure that while ordering detention of a person under the Act, there should be at least one "adverse" case or more cases against him/her other than the ground case.
The circular had been issued in the light of observations made by the Supreme Court which held in a case that a solitary instance of robbery, as mentioned in the grounds for detention under the Goondas Act in a criminal case, was not relevant for sustaining the order of detention for the purpose of preventing the persons from acting in a manner prejudicial to the maintenance of public order, an official told PTI on condition of anonymity.
Besides, the advisory board, empowered to review the detentions under the Act, had taken a stand that for the solitary offence under Section 302 of the IPC (murder), the normal law would take care and, therefore, there may not be any detention under the said Tamil Nadu Act 14 of 1982 against such individuals as "Goondas."
The government had revoked some detention orders also following the above advice of the board, the official said.

After preliminary tests, he was admitted as in-patient in the hospital, they said.

Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati, who was staying at the 'Brindavan' here ever since his release on bail on January 11, today stepped outside to visit to a hospital which provides free treatment in the village.
The Seer had travelled to Kancheepuram twice from here to attend the proceedings of the Sankararaman murder case at a court there, but had never gone to any area in the village.
He was in the hospital, inaugurated yesterday, for over 10 minutes before returning to Brindavan, the samadhi of previous Sankaracharyas. The seer continued to observe 'Moun Vrath' (silence).

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi who apprehended arrest following a complaint filed by Chitra, wife of Ravi Subramaniam, accused-turned-approver in the Sankararaman murder case.
