<b>TN mishap: BJP flays Sonia's attitude </b>

New Delhi: The BJP questioned the locus standi of Congress president Sonia Gandhi in announcing <b>a relief package of Rs one crore for families of the Kumbakonam fire tragedy victims and said it reflected her "dictatorial" attitude</b>.
"While the whole country is grief stricken over the death of such a large number of children in the fire tragedy and expression of sympathy is fully justified, the announcement of assistance from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund by the president of any party is unprecedented," BJP Parliamentary Party spokesman V K Malhotra told reporters in New Delhi on Monday.
"The attempts to draw political mileage out of the tragedy is highly improper. She has no locus standi to make such announcements. The blurring of the line between the ruling party and the Government reflects dictatorial attitude," he said.
The BJP Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha also <b>questioned the basis on which Gandhi announced a special package of Rs 25 lakhs from the National Children's Fund for replacement of thatched roofs with concrete in school kitchens</b>.
