Instead of protesting against Dera ,people should get rid of Congresis in Punjab using all possible means . Na rahega baan na baje bansuri.
The Dera is just a pawn . Congressis's are real traitors and culprits . Only God knows when will India be rid of the Curse of Congress.
If Congress insist upon this bloody game, i think Hindus should do favour to sikh brothers not only by showing solidarity but taking initiative in destroying this evil.

Congress don't know how to sit in opposition. .

zeenews.com had removed story with title "Eggs on Punjab Govt....." Language used by journalist shows Congress agenda, he blamed Akalis for Nirankari conflict and refered Badal govt in 1978 as inept etc... he skipped 1984 or before or any Congress involvement. Whole article was to instigate more problem.

added later
they had changed headline and removed 4 paragragh but last 2 line can tell tone of initial article

Who brought a Hindu minor girl of Surat with a boy of another religion in the Mumbai studio of a channel? Why is this foreign handy art to disunite India? Why does first Sikh PM mum on Dera? Do not repeat Operation Blue Star
Giani zail singh was first Sikh to become president of India during the years 1982-87. Before this he was also a main player in dividing the Sikh communit and the unitey of Sikh and Hindu. After him now first Sikh PM Manmohan Singh is playing dirty politics in the Punjab. Last assembly election showed the unity of Hindu and Sikh. Since that time there is a tremendous pain in the stomach of Congress leaders.

Like that now Dera is in the role of Nirankaris of that time to give controversial ad in the newspaper because of that there is a fire in Punjab..
In one hand Congress evokes Dera Sacha Sauda and in other hand Congress evoke hard liner religious Sikh. Congress is making gorund for imposing President Rule.Though there is doubt for his success in this dirty game.

Congress playing with fire in Punjab
It is extremely unfortunate that mischief-makers should be trying to unsettle the peace that prevails in Punjab within months of the Congress being voted out of power. For, let there be no mistake: The provocative advertisements featuring Gurmit Singh Ram Rahim, who heads the Dera Sacha Sauda sect, dressed in a costume and posing in a manner that recalls Guru Govind Singh, the revered 10th and last Guru of the Sikhs, is no act of innocence. The advertisements were issued with the explicit purpose of hurting Khalsa sensitivities and inciting Sikh anger, thus unleashing sectarian violence which would have been difficult to control. Were this to happen, Mr Parkash Singh Badal's Akali Dal-BJP Government would have been more than discomfited and shown in poor light. It does not require a great deal of intelligence to figure out which political party would have been delighted by such developments since we have seen similar dangerous games being played in the past in Punjab with disastrous consequences. It is obvious that the Congress has a hand in egging on the Dera chief, whose credentials are questionable and who has been accused of various criminal misdeeds, to provoke a Sikh backlash. During the recent Assembly election, faced with a rout, the Congress had sought and secured Gurmit Singh Ram Rahim's endorsement; he had subsequently instructed his followers, strangely mesmerised by a pretender, to vote for the Congress. This injunction explains why the Akali Dal faltered in constituencies where it was expected to win and why the Congress, despite a huge anti-incumbency wave, was able to stave off a washout. In the absence of the Election Commission, otherwise so alert about religious sentiments being provoked for electoral gains - witness its absurd obsession with a bogus CD that surfaced during the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election - acting against the Congress, the Akali Dal and its supporters have reason to nurse a grudge against their political opponents and a man fond of appearing in public attired in tacky fancy dress. That grudge is now threatening to take the form of retaliatory violence against the Dera's followers.

Mr Badal, an astute politician and an experienced administrator, has handled the situation remarkably well, but it is anybody's guess as to whether his Government - of, for that matter, any State Government - can douse a bonfire lit by perceived sacrilege. <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>The Union Government knows full well that the Congress is a complicit partner in the entire unsavoury episode involving the Dera chief. If it does not act swiftly to maintain peace by providing the Punjab Government with all assistance and getting Gurmit Singh Ram Rahim to offer an abject apology, then it would be fair to assume that the Congress-led Government at the Centre is not averse to resorting to the same dirty tricks which led to the birth of extremism in Punjab and extracted a terrible toll through the 1980s till the early-1990s. Neither the Congress nor its president, it would seem, has learned a lesson from that misadventure.</span> Meanwhile, Mr Badal would be well advised to deal with the situation with a firm hand and ensure there is no widespread violence. The Sikh high priests and the SGPC have an important role to play in defeating the Congress's gameplan; they cannot abdicate their responsibility. <b>The people of Punjab must treat the agents provocateur with utter contempt and total disregard. The Dera chief and his patrons in the Congress deserve no better. </b>

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->Bounty for Dera chief's head
19 May, 2007 l 0124 hrs ISTlNeel Kamal/TIMES NEWS NETWORK

SANGRUR: Jo ohda sar kalm kar ke liaega ohnu sone, chandi nal tol diange (get Gurmeet Ram Raheem's head and you will be weighed in gold and silver equal): This was Takht Damdama Sahib jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh, one of the five Sikh head priests, calling for the head of Dera Sacha Sauda sect chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on Friday.

Announcing a bounty, just like the former UP minister Yaqoob Qureshi did for the head of the Danish cartoonist who had lampooned the Prophet, Balwant Singh said Sikhs couldn't tolerate the insult of their gurus and anyone equating themself with any guru was their enemy no. 1.

Jathedar Nandgarh was in Sangrur for the cremation of Kamaljit Singh who was killed on Thursday night outside Sacha Sauda branch at Sunam. The man was attacked while returning from the Sikh congregation at Damdama Sahib.

The jathedar repeated that Sikh organisations had given time to governments at the Centre and state until May 20 to arrest Ram Rahim Singh, failing which they would chart their own strategy to deal with him. He repeatedly called on the Sikh sangat to avenge the death of Kamaljit, saying he had sacrificed his life for the community.

Damdami Taksal chief Harnam Singh Dhumma demanded the sealing of all Sacha Sauda Deras in Punjab. He demanded registration of a murder case against Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in connection with the death of Kamaljit Singh.

The funeral procession turned into a show of strength by the radical elements among the Sikh groups. While a total bandh was imposed in the town, young Sikhs, brandishing unsheathed swords, insisted on taking the body of Kamaljit Singh through the bazaars. After some negotiation, they relented and compromised on a shorter route.

This time his head gear was identical to Guru Govind Singh, including color of his long frock. Plus he mocked "Amrit" ritual.
Previously, chief head gear was different. Basically he was trying to equate himself to Guru.

Reports on Zee and Congress media's is making me very suspicious, this was not a innocent mistake. They are saying Akali versus Dera, but in reality it is Sikh versus Dera.

Now if you compare with Hindus and MF Hussain painting.

Check NDTV reporting, yesterday I missed to copy zee reporting
<b>Dera followers flee Sunam</b><!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->The Akal Takht's call to boycott Dera supporters may have come on Thursday night, but experts say that Dera followers have always been the marginalized as Dalit Sikhs

''Theoretically, Sikhism is supposed to be without castes, but casteism is there and it has been perpetuated for political benefit,'' said Professor MS Gill, Punjabi University, Patiala.

In fact, Dalit Sikhs have always had a separate Gurdwara and cremation ground - a separate God or spiritual leader is only a progression that Dera followers made.

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->Bhindranwale Taksal led attack
Chandigarh, May 18: <b>Radical Sikhs once closely associated with the “Khalistan” movement instigated and led the attacks against the five deras of the Sacha Sauda sect on Thursday evening. Pushed to the very fringe of Punjabi society, the Khalistanis resurfaced in considerable strength during the panthic meet convened by the Akal Takht at Talwandi Sabo on Thursday.

Taking Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti and his fellow clerics completely by surprise, the radicals who represent once-outlawed outfits like the Dal Khalsa, Babbar Khalsa, Sikh Students’ Federation and Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale’s own seminary, Damdami Taksal, intelligence sources said, “dubbed the Akal Takht’s edict calling for a social and political boycott of the Dera and its followers as too soft... This was part of a pre-planned strategy.”</b>

Seconds after Jathedar Vedanti delivered his edict,<b> Damdami Taksal chief Harnam Singh Dhumma, alias Harnam Singh Bhindranwale, hijacked the panthic stage and declared that “Sikhs would deal with the heretics (Sacha Sauda followers) in their own way.” Minutes later, supported by  SSF activist Daljeet Singh Bittu and other former Khalistanis, he exhorted a 20,000-strong mob of frenzied devotees to follow him in avenging the insult done to their Guru.

For more than eight hours, Dhumma and the mob laid siege to the Sacha Sauda Dera at Salabatpura intent in razing it to the ground, unmindful of the fact that thousands of Sacha Sauda followers — men, women and children — had taken refuge inside.</b> It was only because of the massive police presence and the fact that the Sikh mob considerably thinned out during the siege that Salabatpura and its inhabitants survived Thursday night.

The radicals, however, met with more of their kind of success at Maur Mandi, Khanna, Sunam and some other Sacha Sauda establishments, which were thoroughly vandalised even though one Sikh paid with his life at Sunam. On Friday, at Kamalhit Singh’s funeral in Sunam, the Khalistanis happily proclaimed him “the first shaheed (martyr) of the new holy war against the heretics of Sacha Sauda.”<b> The announcements were met with lusty “Khalistan Zindabad” slogans.</b>

I think the INC by its incompetence is giving the Khalistanis new legitimacy.

Also what is it that drives the frenzy to utterly destroy those who disagree with them?
granted DSS did was incorrect but what gives the others the right to go on a rampage and destroy the DSS. Aren't the middle ages over?

In which language does it mean encampment? In Madras Tamil, people jovially ask "enna dera pottu titya?" (translation: Did you camp?). I say Madras Tamil because, the colloquial tamil in Madras takes in words from Telugu and Marwari language and has a take on its own. How intertwined we all are!

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin--> <b>Amarinder-Mann nexus operating: alleges Akali dal</b>
<b>Posted on 2006-10-27 under city: Amritsar </b>

<b>Shiromani Akali Dal today alleged that there was a deep rooted 'eve of election' conspiracy by the "unholy nexus between the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and 'the maverick faction leader' Simranjit Singh Mann to disturb the hard earned peace and amity in the state in order to divert people's attention from the abject failures of the present government in the state.

The party held the Chief Minister squarely responsible for sponsoring Congress stooges acting under the separatist cloak to create an ugly and unfortunate situation at Kathunangal yesterday and alleged that the entire plan for that incident had been carried out 'to the finest detail' by the Congress think tank using its well known stooges working in unison with the state police which allowed armed hoodlums to attack the peaceful religious function. </b>

In a statement here, two senior leaders of the party, Secretary General Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and General Secretary Captain Kanwaljit Singh also said that the police was a party to the armed assault on the religious congregation at Kathunangal and demanded an independent probe into reports the that the local police officials actually provided a security umbrella to enable Mann's armed gang to carry out the attack.

In a statement here, mr. Dhindsa and Captain Kanwaljit Singh said that the conspiracy hatched by the Chief Minster and Mr. Mann and his cronies was to vitiate the atmosphere of the state by creating violence at peaceful religious and political functions of the SAD. "What happened at the religious function at Kathunangal yesterday was clearly "conceived, planned and executed" under direct and live supervision by the political cell in the Chief Minister's Office in Chandigarh. The conduct of the police, which allowed armed hoodlums to disrupt and violate the sanctity of a peaceful religious function at Kathunangal, left no one in doubt that the entire operation was being carried out and monitored from official headquarters in the state capital" said Mr. Dhindsa and Captain Kanwaljit Singh.

The SAD leaders also challenged what they called " the Congress puppets and signboard outfits like Mann's" to explain why they never dared to disrupt the stage of the Congress party which they had themselves always described as the number enemy of Punjab and the Panth. "Puppets like Mr. Simranjit Singh Mann displayed shocking moral cowardice and kept silent even when Amarinder Singh's police molested innocent daughters of Punjab in broad daylight or shed the blood of innocent farmers, employees, traders, Dalits and other sections of the Punjabi people. These so called radical elements had only one agenda, and that was to keep the Congress party permanently in power. For this, they can get into violent confrontations with anyone including the highest seat of Sikh religio-political authority, the Akal Takhat, not to speak of the SGPC and the SAD," said Mr. Dhindsa and Captain Singh.

Captain Singh and Mr. Dhindsa said that the Chief Minister had clearly sensed that he was in no position to go to the polls on the governance plank and therefore had conspired to resurrect the old and dangerous Congress strategy of creating a communal divide in the state by sponsoring some so-called radical. The two leaders said that elements like Mr. Simranjit Singh Mann were acting merely to promote the Congress agenda which was to keep the Punjabis divided.<b> "If Mann had even an iota of moral courage and religious conscience, he should tell the community why he always never ever dared to challenge the Congress government although the entire state was in a state of virtual revolt against the Amarinder regime. Does he courage only to confront the well established and elected institutions and organisations of the Sikhs, the like the SGPC and the Akal Takhat?"</b>

Tempted to do this guesswork - Actually, 'dera' might have Farsi origins, coming from 'dayaar', from which urdu 'daayara' is also derived. In Farsi/Urdu, it means circle, area, realm, region. ('dayaar-i-ishq me apna muqaam paidaa kar')

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin--><b>Sikh, Dera hold backdoor talks </b>
Pioneer.com
Satinder Bains | Chandigarh
The protests against Dera Sacha Sauda continued on Saturday all over Punjab while the Punjab Government is reported to have started backdoor efforts to resolve the standoff between Sikh community and Dera Sacha Sauda. The radical organisation, in the meantime, has raised hackles against the Dera head Baba Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh.

Punjab Chief Minister's special emissary and his advisor Daljit Singh Cheema on Saturday reportedly held a closed door meeting with the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar and Sikh high priests including Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti.

<b>The other Sikh priests present in the meeting included Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Tarlochan Singh.</b>

The meeting was held at the guest house of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib, 30 kms from here. It is learnt that Cheema had conveyed to the high priests the point of views of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. The meeting also discussed the strategy to handle the situation during five high priests' meeting on May 21.

The Akal Takht and SGPC are under tremendous pressure from radical organisations to take stern action against Baba Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh at the expiry of three-days ultimatum for the arrest of Baba that ends at noon on Sunday.

<b>The radical organisations have stepped up tirade against the Dera Sacha Sauda chief and refused to accept anything less than his arrest.</b>

Damdami Taksal Chief Harnam Singh Dhunna at a press conference at Chandigarh on Saturday said that all Sikh organisations would hold a meeting at Akal Takht on Sunday since <span style='color:red'>ultimatum to the Government would end at 12 noon. He said that nobody would be allowed to compromise with the Baba. He said that the meeting at Akal Takht has been called with the consent of Sikh high priests</span>.

<b>He said that they would not allow Dera of Baba Gurmit Singh to function in Punjab. He demanded the State Government to close down the Deras.</b>

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti who was not in Amritsar on Saturday said he was in Ludhiana. He said that meeting may be convened either on Sunday or Monday.

Meanwhile in Amritsar, various Nihang organisations under the leadership of Chief of Nihang Sikh Baba Nihal Singh Harianbela Wala here held a meeting under the shadow of firearms and swords amidst charged atmosphere.

<b>Nihang Chief Baba Nihal Singh Harianbela Wala condemned the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for adopting the liberal stand against Dera Sacha Sauda chief.</b>

Nihal Singh said that Punjab Government should immediately come forward to close down all the centers of Dera Sacha Sauda in the State besides the registration of criminal cases against the chief of Dera Sacha Sauda for allegedly hurting the sentiments of Sikh community all over the world.
