What is the aukkad of NCP in Maharasthra? Is it INC-lite or INC-Maharashtra? I ask because I see a news story of them asking for ban on some other organizations.

[/quote]

The NCP is the maratha party - shambaji brigade - new religion Shiv Dharma worshipping Jijabai.

Historically after Shahu, the Peshwas sidelined the marathas and this is the ancient grievance

Marathas + muslims + dalits is the formula

Marathas are the main oppressors of Dalits and Shivaji fought against muslims

NCP has even renovated Afzal khans tomb

Marathas also ethnic cleansed brahmins from rural areas after Godse

WoW, So both posts refere to an anti-brahmin bias on NCP part. How far does the rot extend. Was there a Justice Party equivalent in Bombay Presidency?

Anyone following the Ekta Yatra progress? Its now in Faridaband, harayana per The tribune.

While the press and politicans are claiming to see communal angle, there seems to be an unspoken agreement with TSP and US to not raise the flag this Jan 26th as an expression of defacto joint soverignity. The interlocutor madam didn't want any flags raised. Appears some thing ultra vires is underway.

Omarbaba is running around in Delhi demanding stopping the flag hoisting by BJP. Claims will disturb the peace. He has abunch of weary officials parroting his nonsense.

There are 5 strains of anti-brahminism in Maharashtra

1. 1750, Peshwa took over from Maratha king Shahu

2. 1900, Brahmins prevented Shahu Maratha Maharaja of Kohlapur from being allowed to listen to vedic recital

Unfortunately Tilak supported the brahmins

3. 1948, after Nathuram Godse, Congress incited Marathas to kill brahmins and grab their lands

Over 5000 brahmins burnt alive by Marathas - Justice party never went so far.

4. Ambedkar was very anti-brahmin in his writings and even though he was personally helped by Rajaji, and even married

a brahmin, Net result, Dalits in Maharashtra are anti-brahmin and vote with Marathas even though all

anti-Dalit atrocities are committed by Marathas

5. Shiv sena angle, Kayasthas were in job competition with brahmins

Balasaheb's father was a noted brahmin baiter

Thanks to ramana and G.Sub, I now know that there is a difference between Marathas and Brahmins. Who knew. It never occurred to me to think different or that there were any divisions. Wow. Once again proves the great tamil poetess saying about what we know of this world is only as big as the mustard seed.

There is perception and there is reality. I guess in the past there must have been some evil brahmins to cause such wide spread hatred of brahmins through out the country; and the resulting amber was fanned by interested groups. Earlier, I used to think the tamil brahmins had it tougher than other brahmins. I learned from my andhra friends and family that in some pockets brahmins in AP are hated and mistrusted too. Now I come to know it is the case in Maharastra too.

Sadly Marathas, who consider themselves saviors of Hinduism and brahmins the saviors of Vedas don't get along.

K.T. Achaya the Indian food historian, had a map in his book which showed the extent of vegetarianism. I was shocked out of my wits to find the whole of India South of Vindhyas was majority non-veg contrary to my thinking it was all land of dosa, vada pav, attus, idlis.

Truly mustard seed worth of knowledge.

So in the long view of history that map also is an indicator of the still going on Sanskritization of India that got halted/slowed through the various invasions and 'reform' movements.

So the resentment shows up as anti-Brahmin movements. However as the people mature this will go away as the nation unifies. Dividers won't last long.

Just as one shouldnt have resentment for past dicrimination, one shouldn't have resentment for the current reaction. As Jesus says "Forgive them, Father, for they know not they have sinned!"

My mind is going crazy skimming that Lokamanya book I linked in BRF. The author is honest and clearly states he had an antipathy towards Tilak, but then later during the course of his research/work he has changed his stance and now sympathizes and values Tilak's leadership. The author narrates the Maharastrian cultural scenario. He cites how Brahmins became Kshatriyas, how Shudras (Marathas) became Kshatriyas...... I mean that is the perfect example of jatis moving between the varna streams. The Marathas did not have it easy, the Brahmins opposed them though, but still eventually the Marathas prevailed. They turned into Kshtriyas, and they are proud to have created bhakti-saints and be a PITA of Mughals.

I think our schools should stop teaching History. Period. Because they have sanitized it so much, that we learn does not really help much in real life. Maths, Science and Geography. That's it. Parents should teach History and Civics.....wait a minute that is what Puranas do, right? <img src='http://www.india-forum.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' /> Unlike the school history, the puranas are not politically correct but shares values and wisdom.

Sorry...back to BJP now.

The Andhra anti-brahminism is linked to the Justice Party.

The Justice Party had a lot of Reddiars ( Tamil Reddys )

Vaiko is a Telegu

MK is a Telegu

The Justice Party was pan-Madras Presidency

The brahmin was guilty of arrogance, not oppression.

For oppression, you need to be a landlord caste.

In Maharashtra, there is one more mode of anti-brahminism

That is the Lingayat anti-brahminism.

The Lingayats had a theological dispute with brahmins

In North India, due to longer period of Sanskritisation, it is hard to get the

masses to be anti-brahmin, whereas in South India, due to lack of Sanskritisation, even upper castes are anti-brahmin.

Another mode of Anti-brahminism in Maharashtra is this

Hindu Mahasabha, RSS, BJP were all brahmin run, whereas the congress had a heavy presence of Marathas

The lingayats founder was Brahmin Basavanna or Basavaiah who was a minister for a Chalukya king. He wanted to erase caste differences. His followers were there in Andhra too. Some say it was a factor in Palnadu war.

Now Lingayats are termed a caste!

The Lingayats dont accept brahmins as priests

Their priests are called Jangams and they use local language in their prayers, not sanskrit

In one of Byrappa's novels, he notes the extreme anti-brahmin prejudice of the Lingayat Mutts

http://navbharattimes.indiatimes.com/art...347331.cms

Dilemma for folks like Nitish or the Punjab newspapers like The Tribune is they are unsure of their strength and commitment. So they will sound silly more in future. They think they can get the middle ground and claim leadership.

Never got an email. They still have old BJP leaders on their website.

Raja Ram, from BRF might have more insight. My wish was BJP get at least 25% seats.

I was thinking that probably the media and other parties now have concluded that BJP will not

1) Hoist the flag.

2) Even if hoisted, will not get the mileage in voters.

3) Either way, Big Media will not sing BJP's laurels.

So small media, bowing to their own political pressures, are following the big media and INC.

In TN, BJP will not get even one seat. If it comes second in five seats that will be an achievement. Sorry for being blunt. However, one thing to the credit of TN BJP, they are the most visible folks and hard working as far as in the states where BJP does not exist.

Is BJP ready for the negative press it is going to get if any violence breaks down? INC and Media will pin it on BJP for sure. This accusation will join the long list of Babri Masjid, Godhra Riots, Stines murder ityadi.

BJP better have its ducks in row. Since it can do nothing with the media, I hope it has done its homework well.
