Questions Related To India-forum Website
Rhytha, Thanks for all you've done with the forum. Appreciate that it must be a hell of a lot of work.

Just to add that i too could not find the link to the forums on the main web page. Hopefully you might get around to it soon and India Forum will be truly up and running.

Will the signature feature ever be reinstated? (While the option's there, it won't let me add any signature. At present it says that anything I type - no matter how short - exceeds the allowed length.)

^^ That.

This was a double posting error. Again. See more of this sort of bungling in the future.

[size="3"]Went through this entire thread.

Admins/Mods, how's the Forum holding up, now that we are well into 2011?

To me, based on the perusal of this thread, there seems to have been a plateauing in activities since long. I might be wrong, but is IF in the doldrums? Would really hate if it is so!

But if it is, any plans for resurgence, to get the blood boiling again? [/size]

[size="3"]Admin/Mods,

In the current theme, the IF posts are very long horizontally and difficult to read, when compared to BRF.

Is it possible to change the default font setting for posting to Verdana/Arial Size 3? It is much easier to read than verdana size 2, and the number of words in a line reduces.

It has been proven that longer horizontal traversal of eye on written matter leads to lower comprehension and reading difficulty. Note that the usage of columns in newspapers helps in easier reading and faster perusal.

Meanwhile, if posters could change the font size of replies to 3, it will be better for all

Can the topic name be made a part of the header of all posts?

[size="3"]Any solution to the "Print" function not giving a printer-friendly webpage beyond (what was it, twelve?) thread-pages??<img src='http://www.india-forum.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

I tried the print option and it shows up all the posts in a single page. Are you getting pagination in print page??

I tried the print option on the topic "Historicity of Jesus - 2" (39 pages), to later convert to PDF. The print page shows ... ... ... let me see ... ... ... okay, 15 pages of the thread (till post no #300)

How to I get the rest of the pages?

I am sure some settings can be tweaked in IP Board.[/size]

[size="3"]Okay I got it.<img src='http://www.india-forum.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

There is this file "[/size]
[color="#ff0000"][size="3"]printtopic.php[/size][/color][size="3"]" in IP Board software located thus: /admin/applications/forums/modules_public/forums/printtopic.php

In this file is a function "[color="#ff0000"]getPosts()[/color]" defined as "protected function getPosts()" [within the class public_forums_forums_printtopic]. It is around line 204, in the version of the source code file I saw.

Here's the relevant code snippet:[/size]

Code:
protected function getPosts()

{

//-----------------------------------------

// Render the page top

//-----------------------------------------

$posts_html = $this->registry->getClass('output')->getTemplate('printpage')->pp_header( $this->forum['name'], $this->topic['title'],

    $this->topic['starter_name'] , $this->forum['id'], $this->topic['tid'] );

$max_posts = 300;

$attach_pids = array();

......................

......................

[size="3"]Notice the value of variable [color="#ff0000"]$max_posts[/color]. No wonder it prints 300 posts.<img src='http://www.india-forum.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/angry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':angry:' />

So, as an approximation, 300 posts corresponds to 15 pages.

If the value is increased to 1000, we are good for about 50 pages.

-----added later-------

Admins, can the above value be changed, please?

Dear admins/mods,

Can the above be done? I need to print (to PDF) the "Historicity of Jesus - 2" thread for effective offline perusal.

Thanks!

Pranaam-s to all,

I may be getting a bit over enthusiastic or even risky, but just wanted to know if there have been any meet-ups of IF members in India? I recall reading about a certain meeting possibly in New Jersey IIRC, but has there been any such meet in India? I think even online meet is possible now a days with various tools.

Also, wanted to know if it is ok to PM senior members/Gurus for any guidance with respect to reading material/authors. Some of us (maybe its just me) wish to develop a deeper perspective into matters and would be obliged if Gurus here guide us through. I have been going through all the posts/activities over the course of time and have noticed that now there is a drop in activities.

Warm Regards.
