Yesterday, in BOOK-TV (C-SPAN), there was a telecast of a Book Expo. Russell Simmons spoke for a little while, and saw him wearing a t-shirt that had a baby Ganesha (with a halo). I have read in Business Week that he practices yoga and has the Hindu goddess Lakhsmi in one of his praying shrines.
Does anybody know if he converted to Hinduism, or is he one of the folks that are onto the new-age religions? What's the connection?

That generation is the flower generation who were the dominant group during the cultural revolution.
They have adopted lot of Hindu practices into their life and have Hindu names.
Julia Roberts the Oscar award winning actress visits Indian temples and her Hindu name is Sarswati - or(Annapurna) something like that.
