It's surprising that the state unit of the BJP, BMS and ABVP are silent. Do they still exist in the state? When I talked with my parents last nite they were not even aware of this move by the AP Govt. Those who do not subscribe to deccan will not know, as new media will not scream foul about this in all their editorials.

If the Haj subsidy was stopped, or if all Madarassas & Diocese were brougnt under govt control then hell would break loose and hindus will fight against such a move.

I came across this today. This Xtian scumbag CM of Andhra Pradesh needs to be put in his place.

Report in The Hindustan Times dated 26th July 2005 states:

MINEAPOLIS: Opposing the construction of a church at the sacred
Tirumala Hills, 23 Indo- American organizations in Houston have
urged Prine Minister Manmohan Singh to ask the Andhra Pradesh
Government to maintain the sanctity of the religious place which is
a holy shrine for the Hindus world over. Agitated by media reports
from India that the AP government was actively considering the
application of a religious society to build a church atop the
Tirumala Hills, the abode of Lord Venkateshvara, these Indo-
American organizations held an emergency meeting at Houston on 16th
July to discuss the issue. The meeting decided to send a
representation to the Prime Minister. So please get everyone to
sign the pettition via the link given herebelow:

QUOTEHon'ble Governor Shri. S.M. Krishna,

It will be a sad day in the history of the country for you as Governor, with roots in a professedly secular party and with an oath to upkeep the dignity of the constitution, to felicitate Mr. Maqbool Fida Husain with the "Rupdhar Award", who has repeatedly denigrated Hindu deities by drawing them nude & vulgar. He has gone much too far under the excuse of the freedom of artistic _expression ,with little concern for the religious sensitivity of a billion Hindus.

Mr. Husain has continued with his Ghazni like zeal for offensive paintings of deities despite Hindus having brought this to his notice and having protested against it on many occasions. As such, it is highly improper that he be felicitated by you as the Governor of an advanced state.

Sir, you may recall that Salman Rushdi's and Taslima Nasreen's books were banned in India because they allegedly hurt the feelings of Muslims. Can Hindus not expect the same respect for their religious sentiments?

Unless it is the policy of the Maharashtra Govt. to encourage the anti- Hindu forces, particularly those who have taken it up to themselves to belittle Hindu Gods and Goddesses, there is absolutely no conceivable reason why Mr. Husain should be honored with this kind of state recognition.

Hon'ble Governor, may we request you: a) not to be a part of this offensive felicitation on February 2, 2006, which will encourage communal tensions; b) to speak candidly on the necessity of honoring the majority community sentiments; and c) possibly suggest to Maharashtra Govt. to ban all of Husain's religiously offensive paintings.

Sincerely

is that guy really a Xian??

that he has a criminal record which can put mulayam singh yadav to shame, i know.
but this x-ian twist is an unexpected change of pacer.

no wonder sonia likes him so much. she may even use ysr to hasten the kerelafication of andhra pradesh, esp in the tribal belts.

and now ask me why i proposed kidon units !!

we get them or they get us.

god i hate gandhi and then the nehru family and all the aurangzebs they spawned. i hate rajiv gandhi for marrying a foreigner, that too a RC cross ex-mafia. and now rahul to is patao-ing some portuguese chick/barmaid or similar.

so thats what we have in store - a fully christian andhra pradesh giving the pc.alexanders of kerela a run for their money, a gigolo of a prime minister in the making, with his potruguese babe as the rabri devi of the centre as the p.m. in waiting. so that between them they can do the unfullfinned work of the vatican sponsored goan inquisition. we wont be surprised to learn the vatican has opened branches in all indian cities, the way the MNC companies do. meanwhile the lotasthanis continue to see india as "unfinished business".

isse tow lallu prasad yadav bhi achha pm hota.

Yes he is xtian, the "S" in his name stands for Samuel, from what I heard he is associated with the 7th day adventist church but many Hindus get fooled by his Hindu name and even then voting for our religion has never been a very strong point of Hindus so even if they knew that he was xtian they would have probably put him in power with glee.

Chilkur temple goes to State

Hyderabad, Feb. 25: The State government will nominate a board of trustees in three weeks to take over the famed Chilkur Balaji temple. The endowments department said the board would be constituted soon on High Court directions and overruled strong opposition from temple archaka M.V. Soundar Rajan and locals. A notice at the temple said that the department was taking over management of the temple and a trust board would be constituted within 20 days.............

1.It is a calculated plan of Samuel reddy ,first tirumala many rumour the EO of tirumala is a converted christian and is weakening the organization from within.

2.Bhadrachalam temple problem , a church is being constructed near to the main temple , For people from other states , Bhadrachalam is Lord rama's holy shrine and is adored by people from all over the state but strangely the media is doing a fantastic job in covering up the Cm's tracks.

3.YS reddy of course belongs to the 7th day adventist's and he is on a conversion spree in his home district's of rayalaseema.

4.Christian Missionaries who were unheard of in Telangana now are busy in their poaching activities there too.

<img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/furious.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='furious.gif' /> The state unit of the BJP is clueless , BJP was never a force to reckon with in andhra always managing single digit figures in the elections that too in the districts of

3.Twin City of Secundrabad.

ABVP does nothing except fight for petty politics in Osmania University main campus in the famed cyberabad.

Andhra has only two alternatives TDP and congress , TDP slightly better on the conversion front but equally bad on the secular front , naidu's recent statement supporting Iran and previous noise on the ayodhya issue while in the NDA being examples.

Unless the BJP gather's its wit's , goes close to the farmer's ,uses the conversion issue in area's where it is a problem , it will not get more than 10 seats in the next assembly or Parliament elections.

Andhra , Tamilnadu ,Kerala are three of the biggest stumbling blocks toward's a pro hindu government in delhi and sadly these are the states where most of the new economy is unfolding , literacy level's are increasing but zilch occuring on the nationalistic front.

The Concept of God in Hinduism and Islam

This is an Interfaith dialogue between Zakir Naik and Sri Sri Ravishankar in which about 95% of the attendees were muslims. It looks like the entire "dialogue" is a farce, and at one point in time Zakir Naik asks Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to adopt Islam (which he calls the best book on the Art of Living.)

The transcript does not do as much justice as the Audio download. If you cannot download the enture dialogue, try atleast downloading and listening to the "Question and Answer Session" where you can listen to the irreverence and the hyena like laughs of the Momins.. There is one self claimed Brahmin convert to Islam who makes a jackass out of himself.

Need to counter this.

The Pioneer Edit Desk
UPA drops Holi from holiday list
Strange are the ways of the UPA Government. Taking its Muslim appeasement policy to an absurd limit, it has now decreed that Holi, celebrated by Hindus across the country, shall not be a gazetted holiday. The list of gazetted holidays for 2007, released by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, whose work is directly supervised by the Prime Minister, mentions five Muslim festivals - Eid-ul Zuha, Muharram, Milad-un-Nabi, Eid-ul Fitr and Eid-ul Zuha. It also clarifies that since Eid-ul Juha "falls twice in the year", both occasions must be observed as compulsory holidays in all Central Government offices. Enforcing a strange parity in keeping with its perverse notion of 'secularism' and to pander to the clergy-dominated Muslim leadership, such as it is, the UPA Government has declared five Hindu festivals as compulsory holidays - Maha Shivaratri, Ram Navami, Janmashtami, Dussehra and Diwali. Two Christian festivals - Good Friday and Christmas - and one each of Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists, have been listed as compulsory holidays. In effect, the UPA Government has asserted that the country's overwhelming majority must suffer in silence for the sake of the regime's deplorable vote-bank politics. It also means that Hindu sentiments count for nothing with a Prime Minister who is obsessed with solving imagined grievances of Muslims and communalising Government policy to further his party's electoral prospects to the detriment of the nation. That parties across the spectrum have chosen to remain silent over this insult and injury heaped upon Hindus is reflective of their mistaken belief that Hindu sensitivities can be trampled upon without any concern.

It has been pointed out by drum-beaters of the UPA Government that it makes little sense to declare Holi a gazetted holiday since it falls on Sunday. If that be the case, the Government owes an explanation as to why Milad-un-Nabi, Prophet Mohammed's birth anniversary, and Eid-ul Fitr, which also fall on Sunday, have been listed as gazetted holidays. Of course, there can be no sensible explanation because the logic, if at all this word can be used, behind the decision is toxic and the intention diabolical. In the past, mindful of sensitivities and sentiments, Holi has been listed as a gazetted holiday while State Governments have been allowed the freedom to declare the preceding or following day as a restricted holiday. This year's callous move is of a piece with the decision taken by Mr VP Singh's Government to declare Milad-un-Nabi as a gazetted holiday, making India one of the rare countries to observe Prophet Mohammed's birth anniversary. That Saudi Arabia does not follow this tradition was conveniently ignored by a Prime Minister whose cynical political agenda finally became his undoing. The Prime Minister is welcome to believe that he can treat Hindus with contempt and disregard their festivals. Probably he will go up in the esteem of his political masters by doing so. But he would be utterly naive to think he can get away by so brazenly pushing his "Muslims first" agenda; he may be applauded by the neo-converts to Sufiana secularism and those who look down upon Hindu festivals. That does not necessarily mean the rest of India - including, it must be said, many Muslims and Christians - will be cheering him in this detestable act.

QUOTEWakfs, temples and Sachar
Pioneer.com
A Surya Prakash
With State Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh just round the corner, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre appears to be obsessively concerned with issues concerning the Muslim community. Central to this "Muslims first" agenda is the Government's preoccupation with the recommendations of the Sachar Committee that examined the social, economic and educational status of Muslims in India. This Muslim-centric approach to governance makes one wonder whether the Government is oblivious to the fact that only 13.40 per cent of the citizens are Muslims and that the rest of us belong to many other religions? Has the Government completely lost track of this demographic reality?

Take the case of the management of wakfs in the country. The Sachar Committee has devoted an entire chapter to this issue and spoken of it as if Muslim religious institutions are specially targeted by the Indian state. This is absolute hogwash. In fact, if there is one religious community in India which has suffered from gross governmental encroachment in its religious affairs, it is the Hindu community.

Wakfs are bequests made by Muslims in the name of god and include mosques, dargahs, maqbaras, etc. The Sachar Committee says the total area under wakf properties in India is about six lakh acres and its book value is Rs 6,000 crore. However, the market value of these lands is much higher. For example, the current value of wakf properties in Delhi alone is estimated to be in excess of Rs 6000 crore and that of wakf properties in the country could be a staggering Rs 1,20,000 crore. If properly managed, these properties could give an annual return of anywhere between Rs 12,000 and Rs 24,000 crore (approximately $2.5 to five billion). This is more than enough to meet the basic health and educational needs of poor Muslims but wakf properties are mismanaged and, therefore, do not give this kind of return.

But the Sachar Committee does not see this as the failure of the Muslim community to prudently manage its internal affairs. The committee thinks that "blaming others" is part of its terms of reference and so blames the Union Government, the State Governments, local bodies and every body else including the Department of Archaeology. The Sachar Report says that wakf properties, where specific religious rites are observed, should not be included in land acquisition. Shall we then apply this rule uniformly across religious communities?

Pseudo-secular vandals have been undermining Hindu religious institutions for decades and citizens belonging to other religious groups including the tiniest religious minority - the Parsis - are coping with problems of encroachment and governmental apathy vis-à-vis their institutions for decades. Such is the extent of interference in the administration of Hindu temples that this calls for a major inquiry. If wakfs warrant a whole chapter in the Sachar report, then surely the naked invasion of the sanctum sanctorum of Hindu religious affairs by the so-called secular state warrants a probe by a national commission.

Here are a few examples of what the "secular state" is doing to Hindu religious shrines. In 2001-02, for example, the revenue from Hindu temples in Karnataka was Rs 72 crore. Of this the State Government spent just Rs 10 crore on renovation and maintenance of these temples. On the other hand, it diverted Rs 50 crore to madarsas, mosques and the Haj Committee and Rs 10 crore to Christian institutions and churches!

Such interference in Hindu religious institutions and diversion of temple funds has become a regular feature in many States, including Karnataka and Kerala. It has also reached monstrous proportions in Andhra Pradesh ever since Mr YS Rajashekhara Reddy has become the Chief Minister of the State. Cashing in on Hindu passivity and the remarkable success, he has thus far achieved in masking his religious affiliation (he is a Christian) and his communal agenda. Mr Reddy's Government has also had the temerity to interfere with the affairs of Lord Balaji's Temple at Tirupati.

The Reddy Government first struck a blow against this sacred shrine of Lord Balaji, who is also known as the Lord of the Seven Hills, when it claimed that only two of the seven hills are scared. Then, there are mounting allegations that the Government is diverting Tirupati temple funds for a drainage scheme and for developing an idgah maidan and is ready to sell off one lakh acres of lands belonging to Hindu temples in the State. The other issue is appointment of non-Hindus in temple administration. Attempts are also on to grab temple lands to promote the Congress party's political propaganda. Some time ago, the Devalaya Parirakshana Samithi had to move the Andhra Pradesh High Court to restrain the State Government from taking possession of temple lands in the State to provide house sites under the "Indiramma scheme".

In Kerala, when Mr Oomen Chandy was the Chief Minister, an attempt was made to divert Guruvayur Devaswom funds for installation of a sewage treatment plant and a water supply scheme for the area. In Orissa, lands belonging to the famous Jagannath Temple at Puri are being sold by Government to deal with the temple's financial crunch- something brought about by gross mismanagement of the temple's affairs by the Government.

Interestingly, the Sachar Committee also refers to The Ancient Monuments and Archeological Sites and Remains (AMASR) Act, 1958, and talks as if only Muslim religious and cultural places are affected by this law which seeks to preserve ancient monuments and archeological sites in India. It says, "There are innumerable cases where the wakf property, despite being a place of worship and of religious reverence, cannot be touched by the Wakf Board because it is declared as protected monument." Lest every member of the Union Cabinet be carried away by Sachar's myopia, I would like to point out that a large number of Hindu temples are also deemed to be protected monuments. At last count, there were 1,098 temples which were "Centrally protected" and maintained and conserved by the Archaeological Survey of India. So, what is so unusual about Muslim religious places coming under the ambit of the AMASR Act?

This reckless policy of Muslim appeasement will have terrible consequences, one of which will surely be diabolical encroachment into Hindu religious space. If Hindus are not on their guard, the UPA will succeed in making secularism synonymous with anti-Hinduism.

QUOTESpain's Andalucia region to help develop Varanasi

Spain's autonomous Andalucia region is to assist Unesco in preserving the cultural heritage of the Hindu holy town of Varanasi and to ensure the development of its urban areas on scientific lines. "Andalucia is famous for its Islamic heritage cities of Seville and Granada and the collaboration is good way of bringing us together," the region's vice president, Gaspar Zarrias, told reporters here Friday.

"We will be providing technical assistance to Unesco to create an electronic archive where all the information about Varanasi would be collected and proceed ahead from there," he added. "We have entered into this collaboration to not only preserve Varanasi's heritage but also to showcase our own culture and heritage and thus attract more Indian tourists to Andalucia," Zarrias maintained.

The collaboration is being undertaken through Unesco's Network of Indian Cities of Living Heritage. Unesco established the network in 2006 with the support of the Indian urban development ministry and the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission to promote sustainable development of India's historic cities.

Zarrias, during his two-day visit here, held discussions with officials from Unesco and the Varanasi chapter of INTACH, the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, to extent of Andalucian funding.

The Andalucian government and Unesco will now sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Paris to take the collaboration forward.

Spanish ambassador to India Ion de la Riva said the project "will enhance the long history of cooperation and partnership between our two countries." According to Minja Yang, who heads Unesco's office here, said it was undertaking the project because Varanasi was "one of India's most important cities" from the cultural point of view.

"It expresses much about the spirituality of the country through its geography and architecture," she added.

Accuse me of having suspicious and untrusting nature, if you will - but what exactly is a catholic nation with a region that has heavy islamic influence doing being involved in 'developing' one of the most sacred hindu cities in India. The spanish ambassodor says that this agreement with UNESCO will "enhance the long history of cooperation and partnership between our two countries."

"Enhance" what history between the two countries? I wasn't even aware that the two countries - Spain, particularly the Andalucian region, and India had any deep historical ties. Spain was over run by the muslims, and the Andalucian region, the last time I visited, historically is a complete cesspool of islamic influence (art and archeitecture wise), with catholic churches from the latter periods competing with the islamic structures - a testimony of the extent to which these two 'great' religions competed for the souls of the common Spaniards. And now they are going to be involved in 'developing' the great holy Hindu city of Varnasi?

With the wind blowing slowly towards a mid term election, as usual most of the political parties are competing with each other to please the minority community. Muslims being the largest of the minorities will obviously be much sought after, followed by the Christians.
Most of the contributors to this forum have voiced their serious concern on the issue of sidelining of the Hindus and the Hindu faith by the Government of the day. There is no point is just voicing concern on the issue without any definite course of action. Perhaps the only way to counter this situation is by ensuring that the majority community also has a say in all matters of national importance.

QUOTEGRAND VICTORY for HDPS - News Flash November 19, 2007

The Andhra Pradesh State Assembly has unanimously passed the Temple Amendment Bill "Hindu Endowments Act" (Devadaya Savarana Bill). Over 30,000 temples that are seeking Deepam (lamp) and Naivedyam (offering to God) are now out of the control of the Endowment Department (Devalaya Shaka), Andhra Pradesh government. Even the temples with income less than Rupees 2 Lakhs per annum are released from their control.

It is for the first time in India that a Dharmic Parishat, an autonomous body consisting of heads of Mathas and Pithas along with Dharmic thought leaders will take charge of the temple affairs.

This is a grand victory for the Hindu Devalaya Parirakshana Samithi (HDPS) and its supporters. Incidentally this has occured on the day that Sri Kamal Kumar and his entourage has reached Hyderabad on this padayatra. This is proof that the Lord himself has participated in this padayatra.

This padayatra originated in Basar, Adilabad District (a border town of Mahrashtra and Andhra Pradesh) and will complete at Tirumala-Tirupathi Devasthanam, Chitoor District. The padayatra has covered 760 temples, 6 districts and 1400 kilometers over the past 66 days. He has met over 300,000 people on this padayatra so far.

This mail is being sent on behalf of Sri Kamal Kumar Machavolu, General Secretary, Hindu Devalaya Parirakshana Samithi.

VEDAS AND THE NCERT
Dr. Indulata Das

The light of knowledge dawned in the world with the magnificent literature called Vedas. Vedas are the expression of the most sublime ideas of human mind and are replete with well wishes not for a particular community or class, not even for the human only. They solicit peace for the earth, the water, the air, the space, the animals, and the even the plants along with the inner peace for the human being:

QUOTE Dauh santihrantariksam santih prithivi santirapah santirosadhayah santirvanaspatayah santirviswe devah santirbrahma santih sarvam santih santireva santih. Sa ma santiredhi.
                                              Yajurveda 36.17
(Let there be peace in the sky, in the space, in the earth, in the water, in the herbs, in the woods, in the gods, in the Brahman and everywhere. Let there be peace and peace. Let the same peace be in me too.)

An inundation of love and universal fraternity flows from the Vedas. Eradication of hatred from human heart has been the essence of the Vedic precept. A single stanza from the Isavsyopanisad is adequate to reveal this Vedic tenet:

QUOTEYastu sarvani bhutanyatmnyevanupasyati
Sarvabhutesu catmanam tato no vijugupsate. (Isavasyopanisad 6)
(He, who discovers the presence of all the beings in his own self and finds himself in all the beings, has no scope to hate.)

Vedas thus are the treasures of the whole world, placed high above the trifling human divisions into sects or communities. Rightly the UNESCO has honoured the Vedas with the glorious status of world heritage. The senate of America paid apt respect to the grand literature by commencing its session with the spiritual recital of Veda Mantras and Gita.

It is India's supreme pride to be known as the emanating place of the Vedas. Indian culture sans the Vedas is unthinkable. It is the foremost consecrated duty of every Indian, therefore to be of service to the motherland by preserving Vedas, the most precious treasure of the land and spreading the precept of the same to every corner of the world.

But this light of the land is an object of abomination for National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), the leading, responsible organization of India which is entrusted with the sacred duty of protecting Indian culture and transmitting it to the next generation through education. For the organization Vedas are untouchable and the recitation of it is an abominable act of communalism.

Yes, the incident happened in NCERT and in the Project which is launched to spread Sanskrit to the nook and corner of India. The National Sanskrit Project (NSP), under the Dept. of Language of NCERT, which is aimed at promoting Sanskrit throughout India, had organized a three-day All India Sanskrit Conference on "Sanskrit Education through E-learning" from 29th August to 31st August 07. The date was chosen to coincide with the 'Sanskrit Week' which started from 28th August 07. The Sanskrit day falls on the Sravana Purnima and is observed for one week and in many places for one full month.

Since the Vedas are the most valuable treasures of Sanskrit language, the seminar was appropriately planned to start with Vedic chanting and to end with Vedic prayer for peace.

But when the agenda of the seminar was known to Prof. Ramajanm Sharma, HOD, Dept. of Language, his action was most unexpected. He did not agree to the recitation of Vedas in the beginning and at the end of the Conference. Even after repeated efforts from the NSP to convince Prof. Sharma that Vedas are the valuable treasures of the country and are the great heritage of the world and the chanting of Vedas at the beginning is a mark of respect to the great heritage of India, Prof. Sharma refused to approve the same. As a result no Vedic chanting could take place in the Conference. The matter was reported to the Joint Director and Director, NCERT but in vain.

The attitude of the NCERT towards the grand culture and heritage of India is highly deplorable and objectionable. It is an official insult to the great culture.

When insulting the national flag is a punishable offence by law why the insult of the Vedas should not be regarded as an offence equally or more serious? It is therefore necessary that appropriate action be taken by the MHRD against those who are responsible for this dishonour of Indian culture and take measures to prevent future repetition of such undesirable act. The persons who openly disrespect the culture of the land must not be rewarded with high posts in the country.
