The voter is king just as customer is king. I agree with the Muslims didn't vote for 'xx' is a cop out for the real reasons for defeat is the party couldn't get enough people to vote for it.

Looks like same lie was fed to PP guy.

QUOTEThis is NO mandate against BJP for the following reasons:

1. Nationwide BJP lost about 16 seats.
2. At the local level, BJP lost 17 seats in Rajastan alone which is mainly the result of congress's tribal division politics and 7 seats in Orissa due to the division in vote.
Probably, Orissa was never a BJP stronghold. BJP did not loose any other state.

3. Congress pulled coup in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. How that happened
would be interesting study. But in neither of those states, there is any pro-congress
swing.

It is neither a mandate for Congress. It is a readjustment of political preferences of the voters. In UP and Bihar, voters got fedup with the local parties and choose national parties. In Bengal and Kerala, it is anti-incumbancy at work. In AP, it is a further division of the vote on the caste preferences.

Muslim votes shifted to kangress and the hindu votes of BSP and SP went for nought. Without a viable muslim constituency, BSP and SP will decline and their Hindu votes should get taken in part by BJP in next election. Is this right??

In the long run, the shift of muslim votes to congress is a good thing

This will lead to death of SP, RJD, LJP etc

BSP will manage for a while solely on dalit votes

The death of the muslim appeasing SP, RJD, will lead to the yadavs drifting to the BJP
The upper caste congress was never their choice

The shift of bengal muslims to congress is also a good thing
if it causes the death of the CPM

A muslim-congress west bengal will be more like assam and easier for bjp to get a foothold

In most muslim infested ( over 30% ) constituencies, the BJP has won, throughout the country
The enemy is not the muslim, it is the greedy self-centered hindu

Also due to sanskritisation, the yadavs and dalits will tend to vote more for bjp

the cure for hindu vote banking is 'muslim darshan yatra"
and "EJ darshan yatra"

The only way hindus vote for BJP is when they feel threatened by jihadis or EJs

One sentence I often use on psec hindus is

" you will find out the hard way that I am correct, when a M puts his baby in your daughters belly'

Modernity is actually xtianity in disguise

Our urban youth are getting semi-xtianised and that is the reason for the BJP defeats in Mumbai and Delhi

Fourth, the ‘urban factor’ continues to elude logical interpretation. If the voting trend is any indication, we must come to the conclusion, and regretfully so, that India’s middleclass is no longer guided by the moral compass. Nothing else explains why corruption should cease to be an election issue and the brazen exoneration by the Congress of those who have looted India fetch no more than a cynical, couldn’t-care-less response. It is equally surprising that the middleclass should have chosen to overlook the mishandling of the national economy by the UPA Government and the pitiable state of internal security. We would have thought that these are concerns that agitate the middleclass the most since they shout the most about corruption, price rise and terrorism.

A strategy for bjp growth in TN

First get rid of all brahmins from TN-BJP,
they can be redeployed to vhp

In public perception, brahmins rank lower than muslims or xtians

Next the current bjp leadership in TN has brahmins like gurumurthy, who is also a close advisor of JJ
this leads to giving bad advice to BJP

Next, target some group, like Gounders etc, who are not owned by the DMK-ADMK and give them leadership of TN BJP

This will lead to winning 2-3 seats and a foothold can be gotten

After the current PMK defeat, maybe vanniars can be recruited

After MDMK defeat, maybe naidus can be recruited

Is it possible to recruit Mayawati into BJP? She seems to realize that her Muslim votebank is forever gone ( why should muslims vote for 3rd tier parties when kangress offers full benefits ). Of course, SP's should be shunned. they have even dispensed with namastes and now use adaab greeting only.

Delhi had sheep mentality , plus middle class don't vote. Other factors are juggi and Bangfladeshi illegals. They all vote for Congress after getting paid. In my area, after they removed jhuggies, Congress never won election, only this time. May be Congress had poped up another juggi cluster in that area.

THis is what I don't quite get it - The point Kanchan Gupta is speaking to, the Urban Factor and the indifference towards the issues. None of them are "Hindu" issues per se. What ails the middle class? I am not sure what semi-christianized means or if that explains (or the cause) the total indifference of middleclass (to national issues).

The lack of strategy comes through again and again....

The BJP may actually have harmed itself beyond repair. Both in 2004 and in 2009 - the INC has amply demonstrated that it is strategically miles ahead of the BJP. One friend who left a cushy job in the UK to become an advisor to Jaitely, actually was disgusted enough after 18 months to go back to the UK. This strategic gap is putting the BJP on the path to becoming far less relevant by 2014. Introspection will not help - if it does not have the right ability to think issues through.

So, for example - If I were the INC leadership - I would simply do two things - (a) ensure that Nitish leaves the NDA and (b) bring down the Karnataka BJP government. This will further ensure ensure that the BJP remains on the road to becoming a western-INdia only party.

You can see the above strategy coming for miles - lets see if the BJP can do anything to avoid this fate.

Issues like the near-zero zones (states or regions where the BJP hardly has any foothold directly or indirectly) have been known for a while - but, the BJP believes that it can win power without doing anything about these zones. No strategy at all about winning or any building any foothold in these zones at all.

Same goes with media strategy - this issue has been brought up for 10 years now with both the BJP and the RSS - but to no avail. I was amazed to see the reach of media (both national and vernacular) in 2004 - it is even deeper now. But here again, no strategy or attempt to fix this, at all.

Consider the youth demographics - India is moving to a point of about 500M youth - these people do not remember partition or Jinnah - how do you reach them? Maybe Modi can do something here - but, who else? This has been a known issue - but, yet again - no apparent overarching strategy.

The urban 'hindu' middle class is becoming semi-westernised and half-xtian
thanks to MTV etc

Think
Shiela Dixit has a muslim son-in-law
Yet for 10 years Delhi hindus have been voting for her

The urban hindus no longer care for hindu issues despite frequent islamic blasts
They are world citizens, half-xtian

Middle class hindu/sikh delhi voter from Indian express

"The Congress, on the other hand, offers stability and is not regressive in the name of religion,” Neha Singh (21), a resident of New Friends Colony and a first-time voter, said. She admitted that Manmohan Singh was way more appealing than L K Advani, the BJP prime ministerial candidate."

She lives in Delhi and sees daily the regressive muslim women and still thinks congress is progressive
