National Level Benchmark Examinations
Manthan is preparing Students for National Level Benchmark Examinations such as
ASSET for Mathematics, English, Science, Hindi and Social Studies
Olympiads for Science, Mathematics and Computer Science.
The syllabus for these examinations is based on CBSE, ICSE and many of the State Boards. These examinations are for students from Standard III to Standard XII.
The results of these examinations provide a profile of each student in each conceptual area, and assess their performance vis-ÃÂ -vis students from across the country on a percentile basis. These exams are similar to those conducted by IIT, IIM, Medical Colleges, GMAT, GRE in benchmarking students on a National or International Level.

There are 18 Vivekananda vidyalaya in Chennai,
These are run by RSS sympathisers and funded by endowments from businessmen
Upto 10th they are CBSE and 12th is state board
They are for lower-middle to middle-middle class
They have a 99% board exam pass rate, with a mostly non-brahmin student profile
and several rank holders.
Just as in Orissa, RSS schools even though much poorer, due to dedicated RSS teachers and volunteers
score almost as highly as private convent type schools

Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir schools run by Shikhya Vikash Samiti affiliated to Vidya Bharati, continued to perform exceptionally well in higher secondary examination of Odisha. The Shishu Mandir students excelled in the State High School Certificate Examination this year by notching up the 54 ranks in the top 100 list. There are 20 students in top 10 list, out of which 12 students belonged to Shishu Mandir schools.
According to Sikshya Bikash Samiti, a total of 10, 528 students of Saraswati Sishu Mandir schools appeared in the Board Examination. The Shishu Mandir schools recorded pass percentage of 98.05, which is much higher than the overall pass percentage of the State. This year the overall pass percentage of the State is 70.80. According to reports, 97 Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir schools have recorded 100 per cent result. The percentage of students achieving first class is 70.12 per cent.
Sikshya Vikash Samiti organised a function, Medhabi Abhinandan 2012, at Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology Auditorium in Bhubaneswar to felicitate 54 students, who secured place in the top hundred list. Addressing the gathering, School Education Minister of the State Shri Pratap Jena, praised the role of the Sikhya Bikash Samiti for providing quality education to the students. ââ¬ÅIt is due to the commitment of the teachers that the Shishu Mandir schools are doing so well. The Shishu Mandirs have set an example for both government and private schools in the State,ââ¬Â he said.
Sikshya Bikas Samiti State secretary Dr Saroj Kumar Hati said the value-based curriculum, an edifying atmosphere, strong teacher-student relationship and strict monitoring system are the main reasons for the success of the Vidya Mandir schools. Dr Ramkrishna Rao, national vice president of Vidya Bharati, Prof Devi Prasad Ray, Vice Chancellor of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology and Dr Prafulla Mahapatra, eminent educationist, also spoke on the occasion. I would like to congratulate students and Teachers of the high performing schools, however, have my own observation as well. The merit list percentage has been steadily going up each year so much so that a student with a percentage of 93% sometimes is left struggling for place in top colleges. What does one make out of it? Have our examination systems gone too soft or there is indeed an over supply of meritorious students for whom the present examination is not difficult enough? Each one to his own opinion but I stand by the argument that exams should be more challenging for even the meritorious of the students. So many students obtaining scores above distinction seems to indicate that exam papers are not challenging enough.

The exam scoring has gotten much easier
The reason is that 70% , 30 years ago is 95% today
So basically the exam system cant distinguish between a 70th percentile and a 95th percentile
This makes it easier for quota candidates to get in without too much questions asked
